Here's the link to Amazon http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/AS ... eimprovemz
The giftset has been available to purchase at Amazon since this thread started.

It is the "Mulan" gift set that is not available.

It seems this is the final art: http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?r=0 ... &n=1&burl=

We can all hope that the ridiculous "first time on DVD" banner will be replaced for "Platinum Edition". Anyway, I'm glad they fixed Aladdin and Jasmine and the disc art looks gorgeous.

So the Platinum line is dead.

Oh, there's a big suprise. I think I'm gonna have a heart attack and die from that suprise. Oh, look at this, look at this, I'm so ticked off I'm molting!

It's a disappointment. They were heading that way pushing Beauty nd the Beast and Lion King as SE and not Platinum, and with Sleeping Beauty getting a Platinum quality release but not being relabeled.

I almost don't care about the names anymore, but this is still a major bummer. We didn't even get through four titles till the label was dropped.

Hopefully they'll change it back. The replacement is horrible.

Wishful thinking says the "First Time on DVD!" is a removable sticker which covers Platinum Edition, but I highly doubt it/

As I said before, I don't think the "First Time Ever On DVD" banner will be on the final product.
Disney even announces "Aladdin" as a Platinum release in the press-release.

It better not be.

Interesting to compare the new artwork, and the old one posted by Joe on May 11. Abu's moved, Aladdin and Jasmine look different, carpet has hands, and most interesting, the actual title has been reduced in glitz. The new one looks like something I'd do, a plain purple background, plain yellow lettering. The old one had patterns, and the lettering had depth, shadows, and highlights.

That butt-ugly banner at the top better be gone by the time the DVD rolls around. I like the new Aladdin, though, but Jasmine looks odd (the eyeliner, maybe?). I also don't like how they removed the dimensional quality of the logo, though for some reason the glossy version still appears on the disc art (which I love, btw).

I'm just a little worried b/c the last 3 Platinums were their first times on DVD as well, and yet the ads or pre-released artwork didn't feature this banner. I might scream in the store if it hasn't been changed when I buy it.

Wow forget about that stupid first time on dvd banner and look at the characters!!! Why did they change them, they look so ugly. It's like they couldn't use normal artwork or artists so they grabed some newbie artist that works on the sequels to redo it.

I agree, the characters aren't looking too good either, but I've never been crazy about the style of this, anyways. But this banner, if it does end up being on the cover, would by far be the worst part of it, imo.

I think from Aladdin and Jasmine down it is definately an improvement over what we had before, but the logo, as mentioned before looks horribly plain now, the Genie is back front and center  and they have that stupid "For the First Time Ever on DVD" banner that has everyone's -censored to protect young children who may or may not be frequenting this board- in a twist.

Although, as Joe has already stated, I have the feeling this will probably be changed to Platinum and I also think/hope the title will get re-glitzed up.

For those of you that don't like the character models, I don't think Aladdin and Jasmine have ever been drawn to perfect model on any of their covers, and even Belle looked a little not like Belle on Platinum cover, but I still think they are drawn nice, and I especialy love the disc art, from what I can see!

Yeah I just skipped that one, cause it was an obvious target. Also the Platinum covers seem to have a look all their won, and Sleeping Beauty doesn't fall into it, but then again it's not technically platinum  :P

Does it urk anyone else that the Genie is shown on the spine of the case where the title character usually appears?

Anyone notice that if you click on the link again the site added partial disc art? I hope that is not the disc art for the first disc. It looks like Aladdin and Jasmine are surfing on the carpet or something  . I am sure it will be altered as with the cover.

I too am wondering about why this cover has not the same glitz as the previous. It looks almost as if it were fake. I mean, only DVDAnswers has the cover, no other site has posted the news. And how come the disc art still has glitz to it??? I hate the "First Time" banner. Please, for everything the name of Disneystands for, get Eisner of the Mouse House!!!!

Yes, but it irked me more, when:

Hugo was on the spine of the original Hunchback VHS
Genie was on the spine of the Aladdin and the King of Thieves VHS
Mushu was on the spine of the Mulan VHS
Lumiere was on the spine of the B&tB SE VHS and DVD
Mrs. Potts was on the spine of the B&tB X'MAS SE VHS and DVD
Cogsworth was on the spine of the B&tB Magical World SE VHS and DVD

or how about when there were five different covers for the Bug's Life VHS, only to have it re-released as a SE, then Gold Collection, then SE DVD, then SE DVD re-release? and all have had kinda crappy covers.
