Here is the rough pencil work for that Kim Possible commission I've been working on.

I need to redo it in color now. It's been slow going because my dad had to enter the San Antonia veteran's hospital, and I was driving back and forth to there for about a week, then I had to take them back home (5 hours away), and now I'm here at my parents house till Saturday, when we drive back to Austin for his first post-surgery check up. Then, I have to bring them back here and then take myself back to Austin, where I'm living now in my sister's place. Anyways...
Also, this is my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/slave2moonl ... ature=mhum , where I post video versions of my Moonlight Motel original comic strip and also videos of my sister's band, and sometimes other stuff, but I've also just started doing "The Moonlight Movie Show" there. The first two episodes are up, and naturally there's been a hold up for episode 3, but I'm working through the bugs and I think each episode will get better and better. When I get home, I'm going to work on an opening credits sequence for the show. I have limited video editing capabilities though.

Yes, he was a marine, though it wasn't wartime when he was enlisted, so not a war veteran.Disney Duster wrote:Aw, about your dad...but wait, is he a veteran then?

I like the brief review theme of it. Considering that many people do the "full movie analysis/riffing" style (Nostalgia Critic, the Cinema Snob, Phelous etc.) it's best to try and do your own thing so it gets noticed. What I would recommend, however, is to inject a bit more clips and images.slave2moonlight wrote:Thanks Pap. Yeah, the review show needs work, but I think each one is getting/will get better.
Also, the mask is cool, but can you get a smaller one? At times it seems it got in the way, and I think it could help you get into your wolf persona better.
A set is optional, but it does add to the theme of it all.
These are mainly suggestions since I too wish to do my own video series (but lack the proper setting and equipment to do it).

In the first episode, you can see part of my DVD collection and some very fitting wall decor that could come off rather like a set if I could just get the angle right so as not to get my sister's ballet area in view. In the second episode I totally just got the ballet stuff, ha. I'll work on that though.
Yeah, I know it's true about adding more clips, though I was just thrilled that I had a clip in the beginning for my second episode. My first episode has no clips, ha. I will hopefully have more as these progress. The whole copyright issue though does make me uneasy about using clips. I don't want to work hard on these and have them taken down, but I guess they are a necessity... However, another reason I didn't use several clips in the second episode, after learning how to get them off YouTube (my only source at the moment), is that I am still learning to use the not so great editing software I currently have access too. I just hope I have the technology to put voiceovers on top of the clips too. I still am not fully sure just what I can do with the equipment I have, and at the moment I have no budget to get anything new. But, yeah, I wanna work on the clip situation too. Oh, and as for images, I can't seem to get that to come out how I want it to with my software. It always makes the pics zoomed in on the videos, so I haven't been able to include any yet.
Unfortunately, while I see your point about the current mask, it was a bear of a job just to make that one, ha. I would love to have something sleeker and more comfortable (but I also want it to look like my comic strip character, so that might be impossible), but I did the best as per my skill level. Maybe eventually, when I have more funds, I'll take another crack at it. I wouldn't necessarily say it gets in the way, but it would be nice if my mouth movements were more visible and that sort of thing, and if it were more comfortable in terms of breathing, ha, but I don't want to go the makeup route since it would be more complicated to put on and might not look as much like my cartoon.
Yeah, I have gotten some enjoyment from the Nostalgia Critic, but I really like the Cinema Snob lately. I don't want to copy those guys though, even though I'm a natural riffer, ha. Though sometimes the suggestions my friends make seem to push me in the direction of doing that overdone making fun of the movie bit. I'm sure sometimes I will naturally make fun of SOME movies, ha, but I feel there is way too much negativity in the media with "host" type shows lately, from all these net reviewers to comedy stuff on TV like "The Soup" and "Tosh.O", etc... Not that I don't like some shows like that, particularly the ones I mentioned, ha, but it seems like the mocking everybody and everything bit is getting out of control and I'm starting to wonder about people lately, ha. One who eventually particularly got on my nerves was Nostalgia Critic, as sometimes he seems to be reaching for things to trash about well-loved subjects. I mean, if it's good, praise it. Nothing is perfect. I don't want ALL my reviews to be the same thing, me calling something "Awesome", ha but I get excited about stuff I like, ha. And I would think it serves a purpose also to direct people to the GOOD stuff out there they might be missing.

Just finished that Kim Possible commission:

My ideas are mainly suggestions, though. You should work with what you have and what works best for you. But I do stand that with time the show will eventually get better.
I also agree about the negativity in the media, but unfortunately it's easier to work with bad stuff than with good stuff. Most of the "positive" stuff I see only borders on the silly, whereas the negative stuff gets the best material.
But still, I agree that there needs to be more lighthearted material. My idea for a show is about both the good and the bad. Since I am the type of guy that loves to look at both sides of life, I would take something (movie, book, franchise, band, game etc.) and look at it through both sides of the spectrum, especially stuff that has been unfairly labeled as bad because it doesn't appeal to a certain demographic.
But like I said, I need the equipment to make it work.
Oh and great drawing of Kim and her mother! Great to see non-sexy art of her
(no offense to enigmawing)

Ha, yeah, I actually like the sexy Kim Possible art, but nice to see something different once in a while I guess. Kim is always sexy to me though, ha.
And I agree, I want to cover the bad stuff too, but I don't want to go looking for bad when it's not there or focus on the bad when it is not that noticable in something that is otherwise excellent, like some of these other guys do. Of course, since I'm starting with things from my own collection, most of the stuff I review will probably be stuff I like at least somewhat. Definitely want to pull out some obscure favorites too, if I can. I'd like to let people know about stuff they might not have heard of, though I'm not any kind of exploitation expert like a lot of the other guys out there. I want to cover things like the OTHER Ralphie films (besides just the famous "A Christmas Story"), lesser known Disney classics, and even classic holiday specials like the Raggedy Ann ones and The Halloween That Almost Wasn't.

I think the reviewers work much better when there is actually BAD stuff to talk about. I think the only review I disagreed heavily with was The Nostalgia Critic's review of the Flintstones movie. Yeah, it's not a perfect movie, but considering the crap that spawned after this film was bad it's pretty good and even fun at times (though I confess I am biased myself because it was a movie I saw as a kid with my parents, and in all honesty I miss those days where my family would go to the theater....
). I agree that some scenes don't make sense, but on the whole it was very nitpicky and biased (he did say at the beginning at he hated the Flintstones, and one of the rules I follow as a text reviewer is that if you have issues with something don't talk about it). I do believe that he has the right to state his opinion, but he better make a good argument, and at times I feel he didn't.
In contrary to this his review of The Room which was HILARIOUS as all hell, simply because the movie WAS indeed horrible and thus gave him enough material to work with. It took itself seriously so it was a comedy gold mine for riffers everywhere.
It's like my best friend says: making fun of a movie that is intentionally silly is like making fun of a clown, no matter how hard you try it's going to be awkward and thus not funny.

The Hepburn poster is my sister's. I actually am not a huge fan. The pink Minnie clock is mine though. I don't remember how I came to own it, but it turns out it is the only clock guaranteed to wake me up for some reason, ha.pap64 wrote:The pink Minnie Mouse clock at the beginning is hilarious. Also...OMG AUDREY HEPBURN!!!![]()

OMG NATHAN!!!!!!!! I love it. I don't think that it needs to be shortened...I mean, yeah, maybe some people might not want to watch the whole thing every time, but it's so entertaining!!! OMG. Where to start?! The cookie part was hilarious. I had a permasmile throughout the whole thing. Perfect. And I love the Hilary and Elisabeth cameos.
Monty is awesome...and Monty = you, so you're awesome!

Thanks HarryCanyon!
And thanks Amy, glad you liked it! Glad you caught those cameos too!
Yeah, there are a lot of little things here and there to catch. It would have been insane if I had the rest of my collection up here already, but we have to get a 2 bedroom place first. But then I could have some of MY wall decor up, ha. Though, I'm very jealous of my sister's Dorothy poster. LOVE that poster. Anyway, glad some of the jokes came through, ha, thanks. It's nice to have feedback. I will probably shorten it for the actual show though if I can do a good job of it. This was actually my first time making a video with real editing and stuff. Mainly I've just don vlog like stuff and filming my sister's band, and things like that. I think it came out okay for a first trip. I just hope the people who own the song don't take it down. Or the Worst Witch, since that full moon with the bat in the beginning is from that film, ha. There were a lot of great, totally unplanned things in here too. Like, when I came up with the cookie gag, I totally had forgotten that the Cookie Crisp mascot is now a wolf, so that was perfect, ha. And it didn't think till the last minute about moving around the fridge magnets to give Hilary a cameo and also, Tink and my sister's band (Seventh Sun). A lot of stuff like that came to me at the last minute. And I kept thinking, I wish I had the spare cash to get a more traditional alarm clock, but I'm glad the Minnie one is something a lot of people have found to be very funny so far. I thought it MIGHT be funny and that might make it work, which was good since I didn't have a budget for this. As it is, I had to buy the Cookie Crisp, Famous Amos, and the Halloween bowl just for this video, ha.
And thanks Amy, glad you liked it! Glad you caught those cameos too!
