That should be Saludos Amigos/The Three Caballeros, Fun and Fancy Free/Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, and Make Mine Music/Melody Time. Toss in Song of the South/So Dear To My Heart if you want.

So, how much are you willing to bet? $50 says Alice will be basically the blu version of the Unanniversary DVD without any added features, but maybe the new master.
If Alice in Wonderland is just a port of the Un-Anniversary Edition DVD in HD and Aladdin is just a port of the Platinum Edition DVD in HD, I'll be extremely happy (not to say added extras aren't appreciated). Those current DVDs are pretty freaking good and at this point I'm just worried about the Blu-rays not being as good!

A straight port of the Aladdin Platinum Edition would be fantastic (that set was wonderful, though a few new extras wouldn't hurt). For Alice, let's put together the Un-Anniversary Edition, the Masterpiece Edition and the LaserDisc edition, give it a new transfer and BOOM (there ya go). Now that would be one wonderful and definitive set. Right now, i really don't know what to do about Fantasia. It's my favorite Disney movie, and I guess I can live with the awesomely-fantastically-magnificent Anthology set, but I would love (and NEED to see) the new transfer. Sunflower should also been included. Disney: grow some balls and release the darned original version. It's not like this is a kid-oriented film (AT ALL). I'm still fuming but I haven't made a decision as to whether or not I'll get this set. This is such a disappointment if the only supplemental features listed a page or two back are the only things included (BD-Live or not). I love me some Fantasia, but I can't wrap my head around why Disney just doesn't care with this release.

We already know that Alice will be getting some new features, but at what cost? Let's hope that this is not an add some, subtract some type situation.

If you're referring to Sunflower. She missed the train.

I meant the whole movie uncut, save for Sunflower!

I actually like the ideal of it being a package release with both films. I'm in the minority on this (at least on this site), but I rarely bother with special features, so just having the films on Blu-ray is fine with me.

At least we are getting this release, and it isn't being put off like Dumbo.

Exactly. At least we are getting them and in high quality. They could have easily cancelled this release or done another Dumbo. Thinking back, I watch the main features a lot more than I do special features, and I have my Fantasia Anthology which I will always keep.

We're not even getting any Walt Disney Treasures DVD's this year. I wonder if Waking Sleeping Beauty, Walt and El Grupo, Boys-The Sherman Bros Story and this release are sort of inadvertantly coming out "in lieu of" any Walt Disney Treasures releases. It is November after all.

By the way, pardon if this has already been posted elsewhere, but if anyone wants to see Destino NOW, click below:

Speaking of the 3 documentaries: Is Disney the only studio that puts out NEW releases in just the dvd format? I understand how they crap on their catalog titles but doesn't every other studio put out all new releases in dvd & blu ray?

I can see why they're only releasing those on DVD though since there is a lot of archive footage in those films that wouldn't benefit from Blu-ray.

I also wonder if the studios (including Disney) are realizing that standard DVD just isn't going away anytime soon (if ever). As much as I like blu-ray for certain films, and while I will always get the combo packs with both if the price is right, for me in a lot of cases good ol' DVD is good enough.

There is a rumor on another site that Deems Taylor's narration has been replaced. Anyone know if this has indeed happened?:

>>I arrived back at the Academy Pickford Center Saturday morning in time to hear about the previous night's screening of a new restoration of Fantasia, presumably the one promised soon on Blu-ray from Disney. The buzz wasn't about the visual quality (judged excellent) but about a crazy revision. As has been heard before, the original Deems Taylor introductions have all been re-voiced by somebody else. They located picture but not audio for some additions to the various introductions throughout the movie, and rather than not have them match, dropped Deems Taylor's distinctive voice altogether.(...more)<<

Not since the 80's... After having been re-recorded for the 1982 Kostal version, Taylor's voice was restored to the film for the 1990 reissue and initial video releases (to my memory) -- per IMDB it was replaced for the 2000 DVD:

>>For its 50th Anniversary re-release in 1990, Disney went back to the original Fantasound tracks originally recorded by the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the picture and soundtrack restored from whatever elements were available at the time to resemble the 1946 re-release version of 115 minutes. The only new alterations made were:
The edits made to the "Pastoral Symphony" that are present in all post-1969 prints of the film. See above.
The addition of an end credits sequence played against footage of the on-screen orchestra exiting the stage, as first seen preceding the intermission in the Roadshow Version. The 1990 version has been released on VHS and LaserDisc. No other version of Fantasia features a credits sequence (the credits were made available to the 1940-1941 roadshow patrons in a specially prepared commemorative booklet).<<

>>The 60th Anniversary reissue for DVD in 2000 was an attempt to re-create the original 124-minute Roadshow Version, with missing footage from the intersitials (including Deems Taylor's expanded introductions and additional shots of the on-screen orchestra) restored, and the original midway-point title card (which included the RKO Radio Pictures credit), but still containing the edit to the "Pastoral Symphony." Because most of Taylor's original dialogue tracks had not been preserved, it became necessary for Disney to have voice actor 'Corey Burton' re-dub Taylor's lines (Taylor had passed away 34 years earlier). Beyond these changes, this is the most complete version of "Fantasia" that now exists.<<

You won't be seeing the racial stereotype Sunflower centaur in Fantasia, if that's what you mean.
