Also "Syfy" (ugh, hate the new name) no longer have the first-run broadcast rights to "Doctor Who". BBC America picked it up for all the post-Series 4 Specials, and likely, any future "Doctor Who" episodes.

I'm surprised it's not called the TARDIS Index File!netty wrote:Yeah, but its good having the contributors, creatives, stories and subjects all hyperlinked and indexed.
Ooh yay! I can get them all in early February!netty wrote:Doctor Who: Specials Collection (5-disc release) DVD SRP: $49.98 / BD SRP: $59.99 - contains The Next Doctor, Planet of the Dead, Waters of Mars and the two-part finale
Now the problem is I'm in the process of closing my Credit Cards before the year end, and will have less money (and convenience) with my spending as a result, and the amount/cost of the Doctor Who DVD releases have gone absolutely crazy in Q1 2010!This releases includes all the Doctor Who Specials from 2009 ( The Next Doctor/ Planet of the Dead/ Waters of Mars & Winter Specials).
In special packaging, this box set contains the following special features; Commentary with Cast & Crew, Deleted Scenes, Exclusive David Tennant Video Diary, BBC Proms, Doctor Who Confidential
YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!2099net wrote:Stop Press
TV Movie to be released by 2|entertain in the US! The rights have been negotiated from Universal (who co-produced the TV Movie with the BBC and retained the US rights). It is expected to be released in the next 6-12 months - and will be the "Revisitations" release - with literally HOURS of special features!

There's no point, being as they're all filmed on SD Video (or in the case of the TV Movie, while filmed on film was edited and had effects created for SD transmission).yamiiguy wrote:Any news of a Blu-Ray Revisitations release?

Right, my report from Dan Halls appearance at todays convention!
The headlines, as reported above, Day of the Daleks, still being worked upon at the moment, due around this time next year...possibly a bit sooner.
Revisitations 2 will include Carnival of Monsters and Resurrection of the Daleks, plus one other. In total there are 7 Revisitations to come, so three in box set 2, 3 in box set 3, and one other, outside of that. Dan spent some time talking to fans, and I heard him say that the 'odd' title would be revealed in a few months, as it's set for release next year. Speculation on my part, but as he'd just been talking about Terror of the Autons, I imagine an Auton set will appear next year.... Further speculation, if Seeds of Death is, as rumoured, the last story in Revisitations 2, then surely the last box set must consist of Tomb, Robots of Death and Varos..?
The titles in Revisitations 2 are inspired by the themes of the Doctor Who Live Show.
A 'Coming Soon' for Planet of the Spiders exists (although they are done way in advance now, so it's not a sign of an imminent release.) It's done by the guy who did The War Machines one, and is very sad.
The Daemons will be formerly commisioned to enter pre production on Monday, and, also as mentioned above, should see release in around 18 months.
Dan knows the date the range will end. He is going to try his hardest to release all the Pertwees in colour, and 2entertain is still funding work towards this end. He also spends 4 or 5 hours a week working on ways to realise the missing episodes. I asked if there was a danger, if colourisation and animations aren't available by the time the range ends, that the DVD's could end on an anti-climax, but Dan said if the range did end that way, he'd be sure to fill the discs up with some great extras. He wants the last year to be brilliant.
On Invasion of the Dinosaurs, Dan said that he thought it was highly unlikely there would be CGI dinos, but that he couldn't rule it out completely.
Finally, I also managed to chat with Dan after the talk and he told me that Shada is very much on his schedule, and will come out in a boxset with another story.... He couldn't say which of course...
I have to say, he gets a bad press on here from some quarters, but having met Dan, and listened to his talk, he's a top guy. He cares about the range passionately, and he wants to talk to fans and hear what they have to say. I'm strongly reassured about the range after today.
I expect they could do quite an extensive feature on Warhead (as it was) which was supposed to end the 20th Anniversary year with a Dalek story. I guess it depends how much or Warhead was written and how much of Resurrection was changed.Escapay wrote:Interesting. I can't imagine what additional supplements they could add for a Revisitations of "Resurrection of the Daleks" (beyond the original two-part presentation). I'm sure the restoration will be better, though.
I think we're closer to having incomplete stories released than many fans think - especially certain high-profile fans.I'm anxious for news on how to handle the stories with missing episodes. I don't mind if they're animated episodes or recons, though it would be quite a miracle if Tenth Planet 4 was suddenly discovered.
I think the 8th Doctor's Shada web-presentation was with scanned bit-maps, not scanned at a high enough resolution for DVD, so including it would be an additional expense. Although Big Finish did release it as a CD? 2|entertain has worked with Big Finish before, so it could be a possibility as an extra.I wonder what "Shada" will be paired with. Maybe "Nightmare of Eden", simply because it's the same season? Or perhaps the simplistic-flash-animation "Shada" with the Eighth Doctor? That'd be quite fun.
