Mickey's Halloween Party (Disneyland)

Post by Elladorine »

I hope this post warrants its own thread, as I have a few general questions I'm hoping someone here can answer about Mickey's Halloween Party.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm in the middle of planning out my honeymoon, which happens to begin on Halloween! We've planned on spending that day at Disneyland, and I bet all the decorations and overall atmosphere are going to be fun. But I see the general admission closes at 7pm to make way for the party. I was wondering if it would be worth the extra admission to stay in the park until midnight for us, and if simple, non-offensive costumes are allowed within the park before the party begins.

Has anyone here attended this before? What makes the "party" more special than regular admission earlier in the day? Just costumes, candy, and live music? Or if I'm already exhausted at that point (which I imagine I will be, after making a four-hour drive early in the morning and having a wedding the day before), maybe we'd be better off heading back to the hotel just as the party crowd hits anyway.

Any thoughts, experiences, ideas?

I'm not sure how different or how similar DL's & WDW's Halloween parties are, but if it's like the one at WDW, then it's worth it. There's a special parade...special fireworks (?), and trick or treating, and some rare characters come out (like Tarzan and Jane, Abu and Genie...). It's really fun.

No parade yet, but there will be the Halloween Fireworks show this year. This is the first time in many, many years that Disneyland will be hosting the Halloween party.
