Your Must-Have DVD/BD 'til the end of the Year

Post by pick »

Guys, I was thinking today about the movies I want to buy from now until December and my, oh my, it's a big list! So I narrowed it a bit... and I was wondering... what's on your "must-have" list? Mine is (all in Blu-Ray):

- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
- Glee: The Complete First Season
- Robin Hood
- Iron Man 2
- TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue
- Beauty and the Beast: Diamond Edition
- How to Train Your Dragon
- Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy
- Toy Story 3
- Cars Toon
- A Christmas Carol
- Inception
- Fantasia
- Fantasia 2000

Now I just need to rob a bank... :o

Why list those movies that you know are coming out in the next few weeks? The way I read the subject is what movie would you most like to see come out on Blu-ray...........so here is my one and only choice right now...........:

Actually there are two movies that I want to see really soon on BD:

Treasure of The Sierra Madre

The Villain (this one took forever to come out on regular DVD and it was pan & scan at that.)

:D
The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!

If I had to pick just one must-have DVD that I will most certainly buy before the end of the year, it most certainly is this:

Toy story 3 is my "must-have." I will also get Iron Man 2 and Inception, but those probably aren't essential in the long run.

October is going to be killer this year. All movies listed are Blu-rays. In order of scheduled release:

September

Charade - I'll wait for reviews but hope it finally gets good treatment

The Twilight Zone: Season 1 - I'll wait for reviews, you never know with TV shows

The Third Man - reviews suggest I hunt down the Criterion Collection BD

King Kong - already own the DVD, will wait for reviews to see if the PQ/AQ upgrade is significant enough

October

Beauty and the Beast - will wait for reviews to see if the colors are corrected

The Exorcist - will wait for non-Digibook release

The Maltese Falcon - I'm sure it will look good like Casablanca

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre - I'm sure it will look good like Casablanca

Psycho - I'm picking this one up, period.

Seven Samurai - will wait for reviews, hope it looks good like Yojimbo

Back to the Future: Trilogy - picking this up regardless

Alien Anthology - only if I can buy the first two separately

Paths of Glory - will wait for reviews, my favorite Kubrick film

November

Modern Times - will wait for reviews, silent pictures are a mixed bag on PQ

The Twilight Zone: Season 2 - only if Season 1 turns out good

December

Fantasia - will wait for reviews for a number of reasons

I'll rent: The Night of the Hunter and Mutiny on the Bounty.

Shout! Factory just announced the Traci Lords remake of Not of This Earth is getting a special edition. So, I'm pretty damn happy... All they need to do is re-release Sorority House Massacre II and Hard to Die, and I'll hit the roof! I heard some news months ago that the films were making a comeback and Shout! had interest in re-releasing them, but only the Slumber Party Massacre trilogy has seen the light of day again. Now with Wynorski's Not of This Earth..., it's time his SHM sequels got new DVD's too. Fingers are crossed.

Hmmm... I just really want "Beauty and the Beast" and "Toy Story 3" on Blu-ray...maybe for Christmas. I also want all three seasons of "The Patty Duke Show" for Christmas.
I'm just valentine candy and boxing-gloves!

I'd like to start collecting Doctor Who sets (my younger sis is the fanatic for the Doctor), but I admit I'm almost tempted to start with this season. I've only seen a handful of the eps, but his new companion is such a hottie hot hottie. Aside from being tall for my tastes, ha.

Anyway, money will be tight for me the rest of the year. I just relocated, my dad is terminal with Leukemia and I'll have to make a lot of trips, I'm still looking for a job and I want so many upcoming (and past) Electric Tiki sculptures... BUT, here are some of the ones I really badly hope to get, off the top of my head:

(on Blu whenever available)

Tink 3
Beauty and the Beast
Walt and El Grupo
The Boys
Waking Sleeping Beauty
Batman Beyond the Complete Series
Scooby Doo Where Are You Complete Series
Toy Story 3
Prince of Persia
Iron Man 2
Fantasia (both)
Cars Toons
A Christmas Carol
Kickass (have been too broke to get it yet)
Smallville Season 9
Possibly The Black Cauldron
Secret of the Kells
Grindhouse
Moulin Rouge
Clone Wars Season 2
Superman/Batman Apocalypse (need the last two DC ones also)
And I want Survival of the Dead, but I might want to see it first...

And there are others, but I can wait for them, like the Back to the Future set (at least until I get an HDTV, because for now I have the standard def collection).

But at least as important are several past titles I still need, like the rest of the Looney Tunes Golden Collections (only have the first two) and the Peanuts Specials decade sets (I only have the first).

And I'll definitely try and get Smallville 6 and 7 on blu (only two seasons I don't have yet, until they release 9), more Pooh DVDs I don't have (in case they are pulled), and A Christmas Story and Bad Santa. Also hope to find some of the classic Disneys I still need (especially Monkeys Go Home and One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band) along with An American in Paris on blu and the original House on Sorority Row.

Disneynature's Crimson Wing
Beauty and the Beast

The A-Team
Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 2

Possible Purchases:
Prince of Persia

All I know at this point is, the fall of 2011 is gonna make me broke. Too many good ones coming out next summer.

I may get the Disneynature films (though I still need Earth also) and Sorcerer's Apprentice too. Don't know yet. I definitely will get them at some point, but not sure of their priority level yet, as I haven't seen any of them.
