Post by AladdinFan »

Any TV shows that your excited for this Fall?

For me shows that looks good/excited are:

The Vampire Diaries (The CW)
V (ABC)
Modern Family (ABC)
Glee (FOX)
No Ordinary Family (ABC)
Better With You (ABC)
Nikita (The CW)

Probably going to check out Hellcats (The CW) because of Ashley Tisdale and Alyson Michalka.

Of the new shows, the only ones I'm interested in are "No Ordinary Family" (ABC), "$#*! My Dad Says" (CBS), "My Generation" (ABC), "Body of Proof" (ABC), and maybe "Nikita" (CW) if it's as good as the original series.

From the current shows, the only ones I'm still genuinely excited to watch are "How I Met Your Mother" (CBS), "The Middle" (ABC)", "Modern Family" (ABC), "The Big Bang Theory" (CBS), "Glee" (FOX), "Castle" (ABC), and "NCIS" (CBS). Various other shows I'll probably catch here and there without committing to weekly viewings.

I've given up on "One Tree Hill", got a satisfying conclusion last May for "Supernatural", and don't need to commit to watching "Law & Order: (insert whatever)" live each week when I can watch a rerun during the other 23 hours in the day.

Glee and Desperate Housewives are really the only shows I watch consistently. Though I have tried to catch The Big Bang Theory. There are many shows I like, but didn't see from the beginning. And I don't feel right watching them when I don't know what's going on (ex: Supernatural).

Either way, Glee is still the most exciting thing on TV (for me) at the moment. It's still in that stage where you don't know/expect what's going to happen. Even though Desperate Housewives might not be at its height writing-wise this past season, I am really looking forward to this next (possibly final) season. The return of Paul Young (and Felicia Tillman/Harriet Samson Harris), the resolution of the hit-and-run of Carlos Solis' mother back from the first season, and Vanessa Williams all are clues to a spectacular season. The end of September takes way too long to get here.

NBC has some shows coming that look interesting....like The Event, though I think some of it is a little tacky thought of some of the commercials reminscent to 9/11 and the fact the show is being release around that time and it has a black President....I prefer when they don't use references to real life presidents, I there have been black presidents before in tv shows, however right now seems a little....idk...could cause more sparks....

The only Law and order im looking forward to is mainly SVU, I probably will watch LOLA as I heard Alfred Molina is also going to be a regular in it so I'll give it a chance. I heard that The Marriage Ref is coming back around late 2010 to early 2011 on NBC. That's Good...because my parents can get a vacation easier plus I can think of 10 things off the top of my head they'd be a shoe-in for the show.....

EDIT: I also am looking forward to the 10th and Final Season of Smallville although im sad it's ending.... :( All good things must come to an end eventually.....I just wonder if a spin off might happen of smallville.....I think it has lasted a lot longer than some people might of thought when it first debuted...

My feeling is that 10 seasons or so is usually plenty for a show, they start scraping the bottom of the barrel after that (or even before.)
Plus, within the Superman story, there comes a point when the character would leave Smallville and go to Metropolis to be a reporter for the Daily Planet... I don't remember if Clark started as a freshman in high school, or if the show showed him in his junior or senior year in the first season... 10 years later would make him around 28, and I think that Clark Kent went to Metropolis around that age. Plus, I think he did some world travelling as a correspondent for a couple of years before Metropolis (at least in some "origin" stories, etc.

-Big Bang Theory: Love this show. Clever writing and witty characters make this show a blast to watch every year.

-Cougar Town: Maybe its because I got a thing for Courteney Cox, but I really enjoy this show too. The amount of embarrasing things that the main character goes through is hilarious.

-Brothers and Sisters: A good family drama. It can still make me laugh, and I admit to having a crush on Rachel Griffiths.

-Family Guy: Yeah its stupid, racist, not politically correct, but its damn funny.

-The Simpsons: Nostalgic reasons. I still enjoy the show.

I can't wait for Fringe, Chuck, Community, and Sons of Anarchy. I know I'll watch Bones but I'm not exactly chomping-at-the-bit to see it.

I'm also interested in No Ordinary Family and The Cape, though both of those are mild interests, at most.

I can't believe I haven't posted anything yet. Anyway, since I don't have a TV in my dorm room, I'll only be able to watch Glee at my sister's house on a regular basis. Which means I'm giving up a lot of regular shows that I watch. I'll just have to watch them on Hulu. Those include Survivor, Desperate Housewives, House and Dancing with the Stars (among some others that I don't watch regularly but like to watch whenever the come on).

They can do away with Glee, because there are much better shows on at the same time. I tried to watch last year, but wasn't impressed with the writing or the acting and the waste of talent that tried to make that show popular.

I am looking forward to "Blue Bloods" on CBS with Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg. Hoping that the move of "CSI Miami" to Sunday nights doesn't cause any problems with watching my other shows, like "Desperate Housewives", "The Next Iron Chef" and "Iron Chef America". They are moving "CSI NY" to Friday night which leaves Wednesday open for some new shows. Tuesday nights it will be "NCIS" and "NCIS Los Angeles", and Monday nights will probably be taken up with NFL Monday Night Football.

On Fox I am only interested in "Bones", and on FX I only watch "Sons of Anarchy" which already started its third season.

NASCAR takes up most of the weekend television and until it is over in November, I will probably watch whatever catches my eye on Saturday and Sunday.

Thank goodness for a DVR, we have three in the house, so they are used and we time-shift a lot of shows, and those we can't record we watch on "On Demand" because they are always available there the day after they air on network television.
The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!

There were several I wanted to check out this year, for a change, but I don't have any TV at my sister's apartment! I mean, no cable. I just have TV for watching DVDs. Apparently, lots of my favorite girls are on shows now. I even heard Elisabeth Harnois is on a hospital show or something. And Kay Panabaker in No Ordinary Family! Gawd! I will just have to buy the DVDs/Blus. I can't stand not to see the final season of Smallville though. Will have to see if I can keep up online! And is Supernatural returning (after that last finale)? And True Blood. I totally missed the third season. Also wonder if there'll be more Flight of the Conchords, and I've never gotten to see Ten Things I Hate About You (I adore Meaghan Jette Martin). I know I'm forgetting stuff also.... I wonder if Heroes will return either, though it hasn't been too good for a LONG time. Oh, and "V"! It just gets better and better (and I rewatched the whole original V last season on DVD; SO AWESOME! A lot of cheese, but still awesome).

I think Supernatural is returning because I saw a commercial during Hellcats.
Ten Things I Hate About You and Heroes already got cancelled.
V supposed to came back for a 2nd season this November. The DVD/Blu-ray is coming on October (I think).

Nikita one of the best show out there this should have been on ABC, CBS, or FOX instead of The CW. The Vampire Diaries is getting good now that Katherine is back! Really recommend this 2 awesome shows.

Ratings
The Vampire Diaries - 3.3 million viewers

Of all shows mentioned, I only watched Modern Family. I gave it three times, but it bored me to tears. How that show ever won any awards and received a 9.1 rating on IMDb, I'll never know. It's one of the lamest sitcoms I've ever seen and I didn't have to laugh once --okay, I smiled a few times, but that's all.

First, there's the traditional family: husband, wife and three kids. The guy is a dork which nobody takes seriously; the wife clearly wears the pants around the house; the teenage daughter is vain and boy-crazy; the middle kid is brainy; the youngest is stupid. Okay, so far is cliched, trodden ground. We've seen this before in better sitcoms a 100 times. Then there's the two gay men and their adopted kid. This could've been great, if they didn't turn them into the stereotypical 'feminine, drama queen-type' person and the 'straight-acting' other half, and have them bickering like an old married couple. Again, I have to yawn. Then there's Ed O'Neill, playing a more mellow, calmed down and less funny version of Al Bundy with his Columbian throphy wife and pre-teen son.

There are almost no jokes in the damn thing; the fake documantary style adds absolutely nothing; and the writing is trite. Every episode is about a conflict in the family and at the end we have the obligatory five minutes where everybody patches up everybody. Just to start fighting the next episode!

There are only two reasons to watch this show: Sofia Vergara as the smoking hot Gloria, and Sarah Heyland as the somewhat lesser, but still very, hot Haley --which made me feel uncomfortable at first, since her character is like 16 years old, but I looked it up and she's 20 years old. :)
