Gone With The Wind (BD) Freezing up. Help?

Post by The_Iceflash »

I just got Gone With the Wind on Blu-ray and on a few parts during the film it freezes up and then skips over those parts. I inspected the discs and everything looks good. I'm not sure whether it is a firmware issue or not. I just got a Blu-ray player a few month ago (BDP-S360). The only firmware update I can find on Sony's website for that player is for BD-Live. I ordered the disc to see if that may help but is there anything else that it could be?

Mine did the same, and until I got the update disc from Sony, I had to live with it, now it plays just beautifully. Just be patient, it will be worth the wait!!
The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!

I have the same player, but I don't have Gone With the Wind. The latest firmware was from late last October. It fixed a few issues with some discs, and added support for a hard drive on BD-Live. I don't have my player hooked up online, but if you do make sure you have some type of storage attached (USB thumb drive).

I would make sure your firmware is up to date, and if so try to exchange the disc. You could have gotten a bad disc. It happens.

The firmware is about 50 megs to download from Sony's site and you can burn it to a CD. The CD will load as soon as you put it into the Blu-ray player and do the install. The install takes a little time, but its not bad.

This makes me feel a bit better. When did you upgrade yours? Though on Sony's website it says the latest firmware version would have .007 at the end and mine says .007. I'll try the disc anyway in hope that it works.

Thanks.

I got my copy at Moviestop and it was the only one there so it's going to be a pain to try to get it exchanged there. Checking out other forums I notice others hare having trouble with WB blu-rays.

They mention different models and their problem appears to be a bit worse than mine though.

If you already have .007 the disc shouldn't do anything. I would try to exchange the movie, if you can, for another copy.

So far I've had no issues with WB discs and firmware .007 on my player. At least the ones I've tried to play.

Odd question, but is the disc clean? I've heard Blu-ray is more sensitive with finger prints, dust, etc... than DVD.

I just went and swapped it and checked it and it's working perfectly now. Thank for all your help!
