Wow! What a long title..

I saw a topic showing Art Work and assumed it would be safe to start my own. Mind you, im not very good and the only thing i have is MS Paint and GIMP. Cant afford Photoshop or stuff like that and i have no clue what a tablet is or how it works. But anyways, on with the show..


To begin, i've been making these pixellies or sprites of the Horned King because i have been wanting to watch the Black Cauldron for the longest time now. I actually started one on the lap top while i was down at the beach for the week and i was very proud with how it turned out. So i decided to post it on a few sites i was on and wait until i got back so that i could edit and tweak them on my home computer as im not very good on the lap top.





Oh, the wonders of Copy and Paste!

Indeed, all of them were pretty much copied and pasted in some way. The Throne was made from scratch. Unfortunately there weren't many refrence pictures of the throne without him sitting on it, so the empty one is bland as can be. I actually did him sitting on the throne first, then i decided to edit him out and put an empty throne there.. And yes, there is a halo above his head in the one slot.. And yes, he is holding a blue balloon(Why blue? I dont know.. ) which ends up getting popped due to floating to close to the horns. Yes, i have an unusual sense of humor..

You might be wondering what is with the other alternate colored version?
Apparently the not well known pairing of the Horned King and Maleficent is canon as they clearly had a kid whom they named "Phantom". Phantom looks like his dad but has the mothers coloring.. You can find him in the old Sega game 'Mickey Mouse and the Land of Illusion' which is the second game in the Trilogy of Illusion..

Yup, i will be tweaking them and i will probably try and make more.. Im hoping to do Creeper, but i have no clue how to go about doing him! And im hoping to make more pixellies/sprites like these but with other characters(Davy Jones!) and make comics..

That is not canon. Unless you mean it's canon within it's own video game universe.

Lots of things happened in comics that would not be canon either.

Pretty much Disney is not very clear on canon but the official canon is really the Animated Classics list, all those films stay in those universes. In the shorts sometimes Figaro would come in, but that was an alternate universe.

It seems Disney has alternate universes. So there really is no reliable canon except for the list of Disney Animated Classics. Those films have their own universes, or worlds, that they stay in.

Thanks! Glad you like it Planning on doing a different balloon.. Perhaps a Mickey Mouse shaped? Makes a little bit more sense then the blue balloon

I like that a lot. I have sympathy for you, I really only have MSPaint as well, and I'm limited where it concerns Photoshop (I can really only amateur-ishly manipulate pictures for banners; I haven't done that lately, but I was thinking about starting again soon). Most art I do, I do on paper, and I don't have a scanner.

Anyway, I've always wished I could play those early games about Mickey (Land of Illusion, Castle of Illusion, etc.). They sound like they would be really good. I've read a lot about them, but I'd never heard about Phantom more; that just makes them more appealing. One day, I'll have to buy me a Sega or something.

Awesome work! I've never heard of those games, but they sound interesting if they created relationships like that! Ha. And, yeah, a Mickey Mouse eared balloon would be really cool there. Anyway, always good to see the Black Cauldron brought to attention!

Funny thing is, i've never actually played any of those games! While browsing Wikipedia, i was reading about the Horned King and saw that he was the main villain in "Land of Illusion". Curious, i decided to scoot over to YouTube to watch one of the "Let's Play" videos..

Thanky thanks! Actually, that was more of a joke.. That was kinda the first thing i thought when i saw the Phantom: "Whoah! Did Maleficent and the Horned King have a kid?" And still wondering if i should add just the ears or make it one of the balloons with the ears plus the Mickey Mouse face on them. Ah well.. I've actually got this posted on DeviantArt as well

But the next one is new and i am pretty proud on how she turned out!

Really hoping i'll be able to do a Davy Jones one next (Although he will go through alot of tweakings.. And i mean Alot ) But most likely you may see more Maleficent's.. That or more Horned King's.. You may also see a few more Non-Disney Characters every now and then as well

Really? Okay! I was actually planning on animating them myself but i have no clue on how to do it or what program to use..

Feel free to animate them when you have the time!

In the meantime, sure enough, i made more Maleficent's.. I knew she was missing a few things and i had to go in and add them.. Boy, im proud with how Diablo turned out!



Sorry about the huge empty space that takes up half the post. Why is it there? So that more slots containing pixellies/sprites/icons can go there..

I actually like your work for Maleficent better than the Horned King! Your Maleficent's are very good! You deserve 5 Pink Elephants for them (which are awards here). In such a short time, you have come such a long way! I am so proud of you.

Yep, more of this guy. Technically, I've done several other pixels, but I decided to post just these two. You're probably extremely sick of seeing him, but he's fun to doodle on MSPaint.
