Nostalgia Critic's Animaniacs Tribute
Nostalgia Critic's Animaniacs Tribute
I thought this was going to be a funny video like he always does. Instead, it's actually a very informative interview with the crew of the Animaniacs! He got Sherri Stoner, Tome Ruegger, Paul Rugg, John McCann and Nathan Ruegger (aka, the voice of Baby Plucky and Skippy the Squirrel).
They talk about the writing process, casting, creating the song, avoiding censorship, and even an awesome improv session with Mr. Director and Slappy the Squirrel.

This is great for both Animaniacs and animation fans.

I usually enjoy the Nostalgia Critic's videos and I'm a huge fan of Animaniacs. However, maybe it's because I'm a huge Animaniacs fan and I've read and seen almost any piece of info on the show imaginable, but I really didn't learn anything new here, to be honest.
A lot of these questions were already answered on the DVDs or in subsequent print interviews, so as a huge Animaniacs fan, I was slightly disappointed and bored at hearing the same info again that I know already.

Anyone here watch the Cinema Snob? I have to admit, I have moved from the Nostalgia Critic on to his stuff. Of course, NC does the nostalgic stuff, which isn't really what the snob does, but I got kinda sick of NC just trashing everything. Sometimes he's really reaching when he does it too. But it's cool when he does something like this that is not about trashing it.

I watch ALOT of what is on TGWTG but what you must remember is that NC is a character. He is what happens with you cross Siskel & Ebert with Daffy Duck, and Internet fan boys. Many of the things he has reviewed he really does still like but that does not mean that he can't point out inaccuracies or make jokes about it. I remember when the MST3K gang started doing RiffTrax commentaries mocking recent films. The Internet was appalled at the idea that The Dark Knight was gone to be done while there feeling was yes it's a very good film but it's not without some faults and why not have fun with something if you can?slave2moonlight wrote:Anyone here watch the Cinema Snob? I understand, Cinema Snob is a character too, and AVGN, and I'm okay with the whole making fun of even good stuff, I just find the way Nostalgia Critic does it can be a bit too irritating at times, partly because he has to reach to find things to complain about with some of the subject matter, and also because the material at times is neither overly celebrated nor pure garbage, but rather stuff many of us would like to see get talked about more in a good light and introduced more to newer generations in a positive way.JiminyCrick91 wrote:I watch ALOT of what is on TGWTG but what you must remember is that NC is a character. Well to each his/her own. I personally don't like AVGN but love the Critic, Linkara, Snob almost everybody TGWTG but that Distressed Watcher fellow. Although some may say 'Funny is funny' it's really just an opinion. Too bad we may disagree on it but hey 'different strokes'.slave2moonlight wrote: I understand, Cinema Snob is a character too, and AVGN, and I'm okay with the whole making fun of even good stuff, I just find the way Nostalgia Critic does it can be a bit too irritating at times, partly because he has to reach to find things to complain about with some of the subject matter, and also because the material at times is neither overly celebrated nor pure garbage, but rather stuff many of us would like to see get talked about more in a good light and introduced more to newer generations in a positive way.

this video was great. I enjoyed it. Though did any of you watched Nostaglic Chick's Hercules video? While Hercules isn't fantastic, i found her just nitpicking for sake of it and was really making a really good critique of the movie.
Nostaglic Chick's stuff hasn't been as good as she use to. Though still creepy that she look almost uncanny like my older sister......

That was a good tribute! Although I have to admit... I recently bought Volume three of Animaniacs and, I dunno, I just found myself bored watching through it. =/ Maybe because it's more of a "variety show" type show, which I'm not a really big fan of (even when it comes to the Muppets, the show is ok, but I looove the movies!)
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

The Snob's AWESOME!slave2moonlight wrote:Anyone here watch the Cinema Snob? I have to admit, I have moved from the Nostalgia Critic on to his stuff. I think that's the beauty of TGWTG. You have these people that may be doing the same thing but putting their unique spin on it. You have the Critic who is more critical, silly and very explosive about things, then you have Spoony who is very snarky but very analytical and in depth and has an oddly charming personality, the Nostalgia Chick is smarts wrapped in a pretty package, the Cinema Snob has a very cool but still snarky persona, Phelous is VERY insane and over the top, Angry Joe is very explosive, so on and so forth.
I wouldn't count the Critic out yet. I do agree that some reviews can get irritating, but for every few bad reviews you get gems like "The Room" (which got pulled down) and this Animaniacs tribute. It's bound to happen, when you have a weekly review show where people DEMAND to review stuff you are bound to hit a few bumps in the road.
Have you guys seen Obscurus Lupa Presents? She is still relatively new to the site, but her reviews are very, very funny. She focuses on obscure B-movies (though not as bad as the Snob's). Not to mention that her type of humor is very dry, witty and calmed down, so if you feel overwhelmed by the Critic or other angry reviewers, her stuff is worth watching.
Regarding the Nostalgia Chick, while I do agree that some of her stuff has been nitpicky as of late, they aren't that bad either. Her recent "Playing God" video was really good at pointing out some of the issues seen in movie science. It may be a topic some have explored, but regardless I enjoyed watching it.
Going back on topic to the Animaniacs, I too have found it that after a while you get tired of them. I noticed that comedy in general works best when watched in small chunks rather than whole sessions. Me and my friends once tried to watch as many MST3K movies as possible, and by the second movie we grew tired and thus had to take a break and watch them daily rather than a bunch of them at once. Looks like the same issue applies to the Animaniacs.
