If they have, and they're looking for more suggestions, they can e-mail me at

(It's "theFirst" because someone else acquired "Escapay" for their gmail name before I did)
goofystitch wrote:The real reason to upgrade of course is the new transfer. I haven't watched the film in it's entirety, but I jumped around to a few scenes. The excess grain is gone and I didn't notice any flickering like I did on the Gold Collection version. It looks MUCH better than recent restorations on films from the same era, like The Great Mouse Detective and Oliver and Company. I'm surprised to see how much care was given to this film vs. others that have proven themselves as top sellers for Disney.
I think it got such a great transfer because it was restored (and anamorphic) for an R2 France DVD re-release some years ago. IIRC, the movie is quite popular there (though not on the scale of other DACS) and so $$$ was actually shelled out to pay for a new restoration. I may have read it on UD years ago (I'm 83% certain there's a thread in International DVD comparing the old TBC DVD to the then-new one) or I'm probably confusing movies. It's like how R2 France also got a two-disc
Peter Pan in the early 2000s, with some content that hasn't made it to R1 (the Nine Old Men documentary and the 1924 silent film, though that was made available by Kino Video).

Awesome sauce. It's nice to know all the bonuses are still included (trailer, gallery, "Trick or Treat", Quest for the Black Cauldron game).
I still wish a little bit more effort could've gone into this release. Even paltry less-than-10-minutes EPK's are better than nothing at all. Oh well, there's always Blu-Ray.
