New Video and DVD dedicated to Magic Kingdom!!
New Video and DVD dedicated to Magic Kingdom!!
Hello everyone!
A new Magic Kingdom video was released yesterday at Walt Disney World. It features all new footage shot in widescreen and includes special features with hidden Mickey's, Walt footage and a ton of other stuff. I put a link up that shows the new DVD.
Don't confuse it with the 10 year old, beat up DVD and video they've been selling in the black box and I'll let you know when the new Studio, Animal Kingdom and EPCOT videos are out (should be soon)!!
Let me know what you think of it when you see it!

Do they have any DVD of Disneland in California or Disney California's Adventures.
I would really like to show this to one of my friends that can't visit Disneyland because they live so far away!!!
I would like them to see it so it could encourage them to go visit.
I also have a friend who dislike Disneyland for her own reasons.

I tried to order a DVD for Disneyland last year (the official travel video), but all it came in was VHS. Go figure. They may have a DVD by now.

Disneyland Resort DVD is still sold
As far as I know, the Disneyland Resort DVD is still being sold. I picked mine up about a 1 1/2 ago, and it includes a time-lapse video of DCA being built. I was just there on Sunday, but neglected to see if the videos are still being sold, but one would imagine that they still are.
It's more fun when we're number 1!

Hmmm... I'm going in less than a month (holy shit that's awesome to think about), so I'll pick it up then.

I called WDW merchandise to order this DVD today. The phone number to call and the sku number are in the link in the first message in this string. (thanks to the original poster for the head's up on this great item!!) It is in stock and ready to ship. WDW shipping prices are high, however; it cost me 8.95 to ship one DVD. The castmember helping me couldn't find any info on any other DVD's related to parks ready for sale yet. Hopefully, the ones for Epcot, MGM and Animal Kingdom will be coming soon.
I am going to WDW in December but just couldn't wait that long to get this DVD! The Magic Kingdom is my favorite of all the WDW parks!!

Wow! I had no idea the shipping was so high but in liew of the comments I've seen on the other products, I think you're really going to like the new MK video and DVD.
The other parks are not out yet but they will be soon. I'll let you know the second they hit the shelf.
Please let me know what you like and don't like when you watch it.
Thanks!!

Oh Happy Day!!!!!!

Is this the price for the DVD or the VHS? But, no matter what, I'm definitely going to pick this up when we go in June. When are you going Aaron? Aren't you going to be a cast member? My sister, who is currently enrolled in WDW College Program, says the newbies are coming next week (May 16-22). Is that when you are going?COST $19.95------SKU#001321814

Kram,
I'm taking a trip this summer. Yep, I'm going to be a cast member, but I'm putting that off a semester now. My parents think I should wait at least one more semester, and I'd like to be home for Christmas. I already talked to the folks at the college program, and it's all set.

I just got back from Disneyworld last week, and I picked up the Where Magic Lives - FOUR PARK DVD. I like it so much, I wish I had picked up the Magic Kingdom one, too.
There are no special features, but the movie is very entertaining. It begins with Walt talking about how he decided to build Disneyland, then it touches on the development of "the Florida Project." Walt talks about each of the lands of Magic Kingdom, then it shows clips of some of the rides from each land. You get to actually see ride, not some cheesy special effects version of it. For instance, with Space Mountain, you see people getting into the capsule (roller coaster car) then riding through.
For people who are looking at a documentary of the making of the theme park, this is not it. (Although I wish I could find on of those)! What it is, however, is a great souvenir of your time at the resort.
Perhaps the Magic Kingdom only DVD goes into greater detail. We're going back in October, so I'll try to pick it up then!

I got all the WDW DVDs that they have released so far and can tell you a lil about them.
In 2001 WDW released a promotional CD-Rom. It has about 30 minutes of video. There are multiple versions on it for different ages.
In 2002-2003 WDW released 3 free promotional DVDs. Each one is about 30 minutes in length and comes with a few extras. Which one you got depended on how old you were and whether or not you'd be travelling with children.
DVD-MLR-PRE
Walt Disney World: Where Magic Lives This is the "Pre-Family" version. Its a nice little promotional DVD that shows you a lil of the parks and has some funny commercials for some of the rides.
DVD-MLR-FAM
Walt Disney World: Where Magic Lives This is the "Family" version. Pretty similar to the first one, just geared toward kids and families more.
DVD-MLR-PST
Walt Disney World: Where Magic Lives This is the "Post-Family" version. Same thing again but this one is amied at older couples and grandparents.
For 2003-2004 they have an all new Promotional DVD available at http://www.disneyworld.com There is only one version of the WDW Vacation Planning Kit, as this DVD has programs for each age group. The video is almost 2 hours long and there are a few extras.
All the above also contain a bit about the Disney Cruise Line.
Now for the DVDs that they sell...
2001 they released Walt Disney World/The Walt Disney Story
This contains a 60 minute tour of all 4 theme parks and as a bonus you get a the Walt Disney story, which is a black and white film narrated by Walt and tells of his life story.
Then they released Walt Disney World: Where Magic Lives in 2002 and it is still available today. This is the same program available in the 2001 version, only without the Walt Disney Story.
Next we have The Magic of Christmas at WDW. This one is only about 25 minutes but gives you a good idea of what its like there during the holidays. There are some extras and commentary by the guy who does the X-Mas lights.
Lastly, we have the Magic Kingdom DVD. This one is about 30 minutes long, and shows the complete rides on a bunch of the major rides and a horse drawn carriage ride through the park. There is a text commentary track and a few extras including some historical footage. Pretty cool.
Most of the ones you have to buy are really meant for the hardcore fans, so if you are REALLY into WDW, I highly recomend them. Casual fans would be better of with the free discs, there is 2 hours of footage on them anyway!
Another cool thing to get is the Walt Disney World Explorer CD-ROM. This can be found at a lot of KB*Toys stores for under $10. There are a lot of historical clips, games, and trivia.
(Jim, I just got back on the 18th! Maybe we saw each other there!)
