TJ Maxx - $4.99 (Instead of the ridiculous $30 from Amazon; but this version only contained the discs, the book and slip cover were missing, which is fine by me)

Picked up a couple of classic westerns at K-Mart for $5 apiece. They were anamorphic wide screen 2:35.1, so definitely good buys. I picked up -

The Man From Laramie - Directed by Anthony Mann and starring James Stewart, Arthur Kennedy and Donald Crisp. Really good story and excellent photography. One of the first westerns to be shot in Cinemascope.

Ten Wanted Men - Starring Randolph Scott. One of his better westerns.

One-Eyed Jacks - Directed and starred in by Marlon Brando. Co-stars included Karl Malden and this was the only western directed by Brando.
The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!

I did not even know TJ Maxx sold DVDs.

Anyway, today is the end of the Movie Gallery Closing sale so aside from two sports video games that may or may not work for a total of eighty-seven cents I got these DVDs...

The Great Buck Howard

Image
Bottle Shock

Image
Hamlet 2

Image
The Marc Pease Experience

Image
Crazy People

Image
Strangers With Candy

Image
Nanny McPhee

Image
The Lookout

Image
Art School Confidential

Roving Mars

Now along with those blind buys I got my dad another today (got my aunt and mom a few the other day) and he returned the favor when he got some Frank Capra movie used at Blockbuster and told me to get one before being told buy the clerk a third was only $2 more. I got these two films I actually HAVE seen...

Image
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Image
Fantastic Mr. Fox: Rental Exclusive Edition

Both of these would look Fantastic (No pun intended on Blu-Ray) but going to University soon I can't afford all of the films I want. I'm sure someday I'll get the Blu-rays and the bonus DVDs with the BDs will go to my sister. Right now I'm just happy to have the films at all.

Sweet massive '80s TV collections, CJ!

And nice bundle to get for 87 cents, Jiminy! I still need to see if Marc Pease is as bad as everyone seemed to think.

Sorry about that, Luke. I may have written that in an awkward manor. The two games were 87 cents but the movies at Movie Gallery were about a buck a piece or so. Not nearly as good as you may have been thinking it was but I still think I did well in the long run. As for the films, I have yet to see a lot of the DVDs I've got in the last couple of weeks so I don't yet know how good or bad The Marc Pease Experience is but I'll keep you posted if you'd like. The Great Buck Howard however was a lot of fun. :)

Best Buy - $14.99 (price matched K-Mart ad)

I don't have a 3DTV yet, but I figured for the price why not. It includes the 2D version too.

Walmart: $41.96 (It was free, really, because I got a $50 gift card for graduation)

I can't wait. I'm super excited about this release because I love Glee. Even though there were some flaws with the show and the release isn't everything that it could be, I'm happy that I'll at least have the show.

We're actually at Volume XVI of such a topic:

New DVD/Blu-Ray Thread XVI - (insert witty subtitle here)

;)

And since this'll likely be merged soon, this post will be in that thread, so I'll make myself useful:

Latest DVD I bought was "White Collar": Season One, new-but-marked-as-used, for only $25.99 :D

I don't keep up with this thread well, so for newcomers, here is my DVD collection:

http://slave2moonlight.dvdaf.com/owned

Some things are not on that list though (like that 6 disc Disney World DVD set that came out recently and isn't available on the site). Plus, I just moved in with my little sis in Austin, 5 hours north of where I used to live. I've only managed to bring up a quarter of my DVD collection so far. Even part of my Disney DVD collection is still at home. If I can just manage to find a job here, we'll get a bigger apartment and I can go bring up the rest and my collectibles as well. *sigh*

Anyway, my most recent purchases were the remake of Freaky Friday, Disney's Where the Red Fern Grows, and the latest edition of "The Great Mouse Detective".

I haven't actually bought a movie in about a year! Well, I got one of the last seasons Smallville for Christmas, it was a Black Friday deal for 10 bucks, I think.

Sometime in the last year I also grabbed Fringe Season 1 when it was 10 bucks or so at Best Buy, and I used some reward zone certificates to get the Family Guy Something Something Dark Side lunch box (Blu-Ray, I think, but I haven't opened it yet.)

If it was Blu-Ray, my PS3 died on me, so I can't watch it until that's fixed, although I might be able to use the Digital Copy.
