I have two questions for mawnck.

How is the passion between Flynn and Rapunzel? Is it sexy, awkward, tame,or just romantic?

Was the kiss a lip-locker like the past Disney and Pixar kisses?

I'm asking these questions because........I want to see this movie with my boyfriend.

note:anyone can answer if they saw the screening.

to knock another cliche around the room:

"don't judge a book by it's cover"

You see a picture, but you know nothing about the setting, the relation to the story, the backstory, the build-up, the music, the mood, etc, etc! Just be patient before you trash the hell out of it! Or else you might end up eating those words...
I hope i do eat my words and that this movie is great but right now i dont see it, the studio has been releasing some pretty lackluster films wheter 3D or 2D.

I'll try to guess all those things you mentioned; the setting is the lake around the castle, the backstory is they are trying to get to the castle so she can find her parents, the build up is they probably have one of those disney moments where they start to fall for one another, maybe they will show a montage haha

I don't want to sound like a troll, but I hope the kiss will be at least romantic or sexy... Cause Flynn is such a sexy character. I would love to kiss him myself, ha ha.

Polizzi isn't the one that wrote that summary. But we've heard from past reviews of the movie that Gothel dies.

Okay, I just want to talk about something with all of you, I just want to voice opinion and see what you think.

This may involve SPOILERS so I will white it.

Okay, so we found out that a magical plant, apparently a magic flower, appears, and a tea is made from it to heal the Queen. It's power is transferred to her daughter Rapunzel, and Gothel, who was hiding the magic plant before, now takes Rapunzel and hides her. First I want to say that a while back, and this especially goes to PatrickvD, robster16, and Amy, I actually came up with a very similar idea before we even found this out. If you want proof, I wrote it waaay back in this thread. I said, "This could still be more like the original tale by having the lettuce that the peasant husband steals for his wife give his baby girl magical hair (because the lettuce came from the witch's garden, and perhaps a father's and mother's love makes the magic more powerful), and so the witch takes the baby as an exchange for the lettuce and also to have the magical hair (and the witch has to love Rapunzel to keep the hair's power...but the witch really falls for Rapunzel, as a mother)." I know I didn't come up with it being used for Rapunzel's tears, but I am talking about the idea of the plant being magical and when Rapunzel's mother consumes it, that's what makes Rapunzel have magical hair and that's why the witch wants her. I wanted some of you to tell me if you thought it was so great Disney happened to use the same idea or if you thought I was then clever or good. Please tell me if you think so.

But anyway, now I have some concerns, and I just wanted to express my view and see if anyone agrees. First, from what we have recently seen, it seems this story might actually be really faithful to the Rapunzel story now, at least as much as Disney has been, in their traditional, classic way. At first I was very mad that Rapunzel was changed to be a born princess and her prince was changed to a bandit, but I now see these changes really do serve the story to make for a journey, to have a longer, bigger, more exciting adventure and film. But now, I do not see any reason for some of these other changes. Why did the lettuce, which was how Rapunzel got her name, have to be changed to a flower, that has to be made into a tea? If it was the original rapunzel lettuce, it would make sense for the Queen to simply eat it, it would make sense for a pregnant woman, and not only would it be keeping to the original story, but Rapunzel would get her name from it the correct way. Then, it also seems Gothel is just an ordinary woman who steals the magcial things. I don't see why she can't be the original story's witch with a garden, who makes the deal with Rapunzel's father who tries to steal her lettuce.

If Mother Gothel isn't a magical witch or enchantress, not only is it not like the original story, but it makes her more ordinary and less interesting to me. And then I have no idea how she gets Rapunzel or how she builds that huge, giant tower and puts her up there in the first place. The only thing that makes me feel okay is that then Mother Gothel is kind of magical by stealing magic.

The reasons I am concerned about all this are, for one, because it's being unfaithful when it doesn't have to be unfaithful. The changes aren't necessary for making a better movie is what I mean. More than that, I don't want children who see this movie thinking then that this is how Rapunzel's story goes. You see, I'm very okay with children thinking that The Little Mermaid lived happily ever after, I'm okay with them thinking extra things happened in certain stories that didn't happen originally. But I don't understand why there has to be so many changed things as Tangled is doing.

Very briefly I want to talk about Rapunzel and how that magic flower may still be rapunzel (the plant). I previously thought rapunzel was just lettuce, but it turns out it is lettuce that also sprouts flowers. Now, these flowers are supposed to be bell shaped, meaning they look like bells and point downward like bells. Some pictures show this. But I have found some pictures that show these flowers looking just like the one we have seen for this film, except they are purple and not gold:

I originally thought that the reason Rapunzel's dress was purple-pink was because of the purple-pink flowers this rapunzel plant grows, but since they made the flower in the film gold, the only thing I can think of is it's gold because it's magical, and maybe it has to do with Rapunzel's gold hair, even though I thought her hair was just blonde like her mother's, but maybe it is a special gold color after the magic flower.

I also thought Rapunzel's dress was almost like a lighter, girlier shade of Mother Gothel's red dress in a way, to dress her like her, but not quite. And I thought that maybe Mother Gothel has black hair to show even more she is not Rapunzel's real mother.

After all that, I want to say what I think should happen, and please tell me if you like it, think it's good, or don't. Disney, if you're reading this, I hereby give up all my rights to this and you may use it with my permission, I won't and can't sue you, if you need to ask me specially my email is lemonhippocave@gmail.com, thank you:

Once upon a time an old witch was losing her beauty and health. She wanted to be beautiful and young forever, and live forever. Her mother had given her a special seed to do this with, out of love, but the witch didn't really love her mother that much, out of anger at her, and doesn't understand love. She decided to use the plant now as a last resort, because the plant from it would only last for a while, not forever. She plants this seed, which becomes a special magical rapunzel plant bearing purple flowers. The flowers glow a very faint gold light. She eats the plant's lettuce, and it works, but only for a little bit, then she must eat some more lettuce, and eventually the plant will run out.

The king and queen of the land were expecting their first baby, but the queen was ill because of pregnancy complications. One day, looking out her high tower window, she, unlike anybody else, could see over the witch's high wall. Two different things could happen, either she craves the lettuce because it glows magic and she feels she needs it, and she really does need it, it's a pregnancy thing, or she sees the witch healing herself with the plant and thinks she could use it. She tells the king, and he tries to ask the witch, but she's all walled up, wanting no company, so he tries to steal it. The witch is about to attack him in her garden when she sees the flowers in his touch glow a lot brighter. Her mother had said the plant would last forever with love, but the witch had never understood, and had a hard time believing in love anyway.

So the witch thought of a plan. "I'll let you have the lettuce if you give me your baby." "How could I do that?" the king replied shocked. "How could you let both your wife and baby die?" the witch responded. So the king agreed. Unbenownst to the king and witch, the flowers glowed brighter because the king was using them as an act of love to save his wife and chid. The witch did however suspect that the plant's magic would go to the child and last as long as the child lived, much longer than the plant would in her garden, and perhaps, even make the child live forever. Especially with love. So this either just happens or maybe she casts a spell to make it happen. But the queen is saved and the child is born, and she is named Rapunzel after the plant that saved her and her mother. One day, the witch comes a-knocking, says "A deal's a deal", and takes Princess Rapunzel away. The king and queen say "We are the king and queen, we can give you anything you want! Just don't take our child!!!!" with the queen crying and throwing jewels and gold and clothes hoping she'll take anything but her child. The king calls the guards.

The witch was not the most powerful witch, otherwise she wouldn't need the plant or Rapunzel's magic to stay beautiful and young, so when the guards are chasing her, she has difficulty escaping them, until she places her hand on Rapunzel's hair, and her hand glows. Her magic becomes much more powerful, and she blasts the guards away and flies away, too.

She either flies up to a hidden abandoned tower or builds one, somehow, using her Rapunzel-strengthened magic. After that, Mother Gothel must try to love Rapunzel for the magic to work. It would certainly work a lot more if she really loved Rapunzel more deeply, but brushing her hair and semi-taking care of her seems to do it, and at least the magic will work on her as long as Rapunzel is alive, much longer than the life of a plant...

So...it'd be cool if any of you let me know what you think.

Also, I did recently think I figured out something about Flynn Rider:

Remember how Rapunzel makes a deal with Flynn for him to take her out of the tower? I think there must be something in it for Flynn. I think that there are actually Wanted posters for Rapunzel to be taken back to the king and queen...for a reward. That's slightly like Anastasia but I don't care if it is.

If Flynn takes Rapunzel back to her parents, then he will not only get more than he could ever wish for in riches and living the good life using those riches, he would probably also get off the hook for all the previous theiving he did, and not have to run from the law anymore.

So...whatdya think?

I think it's cool and possible if it were true, and it makes sense why Flynn did it on purpose but I thought R blackmailed him for his stolen goods to take her outside

That's what they said at the panel at Comic Con. At least, that's what I remember them saying, 'could be wrong though.

I'm actually glad they made it a flower instead of lettuce. When I read the original fairy tale, I always thought the lettuce was silly. The reason I think Mother Gothel isn't a witch is because two out of the three characters she is based on have magical powers. Also I don't know if it was intentional or not, if she was a witch she would very similar to the witch in Into the Woods.

They fall in love during their adventures after a rocky start (and if you consider that a spoiler, TURN OFF THE COMPUTER). I hate to say this but I don't remember the kiss, but that's no doubt because the romantic stuff was in a section that had a lot of storyboard drawings. But I *encourage* you to see it with your boyfriend.

Disney Duster - you're overthinking. And anyway, by all reports the movie has already been finalized, content-wise. Too late for suggestions now. There will be no lettuce. Besides, (1) they're not playing it all that close to the original Rapunzel story (which, personally, I'm very happy about, because I think it would've made a very dull 85 minutes in the theater), and (2) you'll see the need for the changes when you see the movie.

Sorry to say this to you Disney fans, but from the looks of the story that are spoiled and read, it is better off, "Rapunzel," than, "Tangled." If Disney really wants to call it, "Tangled," to emphasize two characters, why not create a prologue about Flynn Rider alongside with Rapunzel's? Maybe then, it can definitely emphasize two characters. Also, it almost, but not quite, look similar as, "The Princess and the Frog," except they do not turn into frogs. For example, in Disney's, "The Princess and the Frog," Naveen breaks up with Tiana after he understood her dream, and gets captured by Dr. Facilier's shadow creatures. In the story of Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," Flynn breaks up with Rapunzel for no reason, and gets captured by the guards of kingdom Corona. However, they both have different endings. In Disney's, "The Princess and the Frog," Tiana destroys the talisman, and sends Dr. Facilier to his friends on the other side. In Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," Rapunzel cuts off her own hair, and watches Mother Gothel die in age. The reason why I believe that both, "The Princess and the Frog," and, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," look almost similar in stories, is because of the story that focuses one character in the beginning, before it focuses two characters than one. I could be wrong, but that is just a thought when it comes to stories. True that the animation and musical numbers could top it off for Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," but they have to at least make the story better for once that can go along with the animation and musical numbers. From the looks of the story, it will probably do good, but not too good. Sorry for being picky, but this story could be worth telling.

Polizzi, I'm confused... are you still whining about the title, or are you saing that Tangled just sounds like a re-hash of TPatF?

I was just comparing two different stories that could have some similarities, like how Disney uses the same animation sequence on some animated movies based on older animated movies to conserve ideas for their next animation. For example, Disney's, "Sleeping Beauty," shows the prince and princess dancing. Disney's, "Beauty and the Beast," did the same thing, but in different art.

Huh? Where are you getting this from?

Wait wait wait wait wait wait .... you're going by Hollymck's IMDB posting on the plot, aren't you. (S)he did not see the movie. That was all just speculation based on what (s)he picked up on the internets, and was advertised as such. Don't treat it as gospel. A lot of it is off base, and some of it is just plain wrong.

Chill out! The movie comes out in November. Please do not review it before you even know what the plot actually is.

Well the good news about comparing two stories is that is not a review, it is just a belief. And yes the movie is not out yet, and I have not yet reviewed the movie itself yet. I understand that the story could be a little false, but it looks like that it could be told for the movie, especially when a writer from France has details about Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," shared in this thread. Like I said, I could be wrong about comparing two stories, but that was just a thought. True that he or she did not see the movie, neither do I or all of us in this thread, except some who are lucky like Flynn Rider, but it could be something worth telling, but subject may yet to change. Oh and to tell you the truth, despite not seeing the movie in theaters, I am starting to understand how the story goes, and the idea of giving Flynn Rider a prologue alongside with Rapunzel's prologue is just a suggestion, like Disney Duster's example of a prologue for Rapunzel, which I find it very intriguing. True that the movie is already finalized, but I bet the prologue could be told differently when it shoots out in theaters, despite the spoiling. I bet it might tell the story about both Rapunzel and Flynn Rider's past without even knowing it, in theaters only besides spoiling it. That would be a surprising beginning, would it?

These Tangled threads really have turned into a bit of a circus, haven't they? I can't wait for the movie to come out, and then read the posts!
