Disney Treasures:The Chronological Donald

I have looking at other dvd sites for the reviews of three of the Disney Treasures and it kinda surprises me that the Donald Duck dvd collection has somewhat been overshadowed by the other three volumes.I've seen so many great reviews for ON THE FRONT LINES, MICKEY MOUSE IN LIVING COLOR 2 and TOMORROWLAND collection, but nothing for Donald.

Donald Duck is my favorite Disney character of all time and the funniest Disney character and I personally think that the Chronological Donald will be the sleeper hit out of the four volume set.Next to ON THE FRONT LINES, the Donald collection is a must need for my cartoon library and it would be nice to see a review for Donald.

I would see The Chronological Donald first because it's my favorite DVD that I want to see this year.
The Chronological Donald just got less on stock Disney drop Donald Duck from 250,000 to 165,000 !!!!!

It seems strange, but "Chronological Donald" is probably the Treasure I'm least looking forward to... It is weird, because Donald is one of my favorite characters (even more than Mickey) and I really love the shorts that are going to be included on the DVD... But the DVD itself seems the weakest of the four, at least in terms of bonus features. Well, I think the meaty bonuses will come in the next volumes, like they hold the best extras for the second Mickey Mouse ILC.

Eventhough I will be getting all 4 Disney Treasure DVDs without question, I've always been looking forward to the Donald Duck DVD, even back when it was originally supposed to be released last Dec.

I've read a lot of good things about the other Wave 3 Treasures DVDs since then, so I'm sure I'll like those too, but I'll have to watch the Donald DVD first

Not so for me. I want to see Donald the most. Most of these sites do random reviews and it really depends on the reviewer, and when they get them. I'd expect a review really soon.

Donald is probabbly tied third, on my list with MM, to On the Front Lines and Tomarrowland.

I think Donald will be third on my list of Treasures to watch. The first one will be The Front Lines (my husband is really interested in that one) and he'll probably like to watch Tomorrowland. We'll watch those two together, then I can get to the cartoons myself. I'll watch Donald before Mickey, since Mickey has already received play time with the other 2 Mickey sets.

Don't worry, man - Donald will get his due! My thoughts are that the other sets - especially "Front Lines" and "Tomorrowland" are getting more attention right now because they definitely fall more into the "rarity" category. We'll all be familiar with many of the Donald shorts, but these other sets have stuff that many of us have never had the chance to see before.

That's it for now. Screen grabs and Easter egg hints. Emphasis is on "mini" but you can ask more about it if you want. Also, the Donald Duck one is the only one of the four where Easter eggs are actually mentioned in the notes.

Can you give us any more detail on the easter eggs, are they significant?

Since you asked, one is a clip from The Reluctant Dragon, and the other two are films of sound recording sessions where you can watch Clarence Nash voicing Donald Duck in one of them and he is singing/quacking a song along with the woman who does the voice for Clarabelle Cluck (did I get the name right?). The other one shows the guy who does the voice for the Reluctant Dragon showing up for work and he gets to see how Donald is animated. All the clips are fairly lengthy. I don't know if there's more than these three. I think I'm remembering these all correctly. There might've actually been one unlisted short.

Can you atleast give us some comments on the set. A minireview perhaps? Don't call what you posted a mini review, its just a few pictures and instructions.

I'm not good about getting technical with all these things. The packaging is the same as the other Disney Treasures with the double digipack casing and outer collector's tin. There's a postcard inside of the poster for Donald's Vacation and a Certificate of Authenticity stating that mine is #25,251 out of 165,000. There's a nice little booklet with an introduction by Leonard Maltin, scans of some pencil art of Donald and a quote by Walt Disney that says, "Donald Duck was a character we simply couldn't keep down. And the public took him to heart completely." My overall impression is that it is a no-brainer that this is a must-own DVD.

I can see why the reviews have been slow in coming. With four double-disc sets that came out on the same day there is a lot of material to go through.
