Edit: ok, so I found it on Youtube but I'll gladly take it somwhere else that has it in a higher quality format.
They must have been removed. Sorry.

Just for fun, I've just made a cover, since this is my favorite Disney movie and can't hardly wait to have this! I hope you like it ;)

Posted in the Beauty and the Beast thread, but its more at home here. This is what I think the opening could end up looking like in the Diamond Edition with the 3D castle in place of the old one.

I personally prefer an orange color palette for the Lion King cover, but otherwise this is a well-designed mock-up. The positions of the characters are just right. :)

PheR that looks wonderful! The characters are at a perfect shade of violet: a color that does not contrast with the obnoxious blue border too much. Some blu-ray covers suffer from this because Disney doesn't know how to work with the border that has to be there.

Yeah, looks great! :)

That border drives me nuts at times; I guess they think people can't distinguish a Blu-ray from a DVD unless it's got that blue border popping out. Sometimes it looks great (as in this case), but when you've got a color theme of orange or something going on . . . um, yikes.

yeps, that's why I made it purple-ish, I wanted it to incorporate the "kings of the past in the stars" concept from the movie which I think it's beautiful and they've never used that for any lion king cover, and I think it matches the Blu atmosphere better than an orange scheme (which I love too) but with so many reddish looking characters there, a purple scheme looks better in my opinion, and it kinda gives it a dawn atmosphere, perfect for the circle of life setting in the background. Mufasa's image in the sky is hardly a spoiler now but... well who knows haha

Of course, it would look better with new drawings/positions for the characters (which I asume the official cover will actually have), but that's what I could do with existing images LOL

Thanks everybody for their comments! ;)
I think we'll see the actual cover sometime in Febraury/March, can't wait!! They really need to use the kings of the past in the stars concept for the cover and make them sparkle!! haha

They have to use the border? are we sure? there are other blu rays that don't have it, so why does Disney?

I really don't see them making it work with it, blue doesn't work with the Lion King at all in my opinion. TS3 gets a yellow border, if it Must have one at all, wouldn't that be the way to go?

It seems like they're typically blue-bordered, but some (not all) of the combo packs have a yellow border to distinguish them. I.E., the Toy Story 3 Blu-ray has a blue border, the combo pack has a yellow one, and the DVD has none at all.

Am I wrong in thinking that the only time a combo pack has had a blue border was when there wasn't a blu-only release? So the blue and gold borders are used to help the combo and just blu releases of a single film stand out. Any border at all makes it a blu release. It's annoying for us, but I think this was a good move so that common shopper can tell a difference between what they're buying.

by the way, PheR that cover is beautiful. I hope the final design does end up similar to that.

I wish they would just make the border a removable sticker. it'd be a win/win for everyone.

How many people out there actually like it though? it seems to me the people the border is intended to help couldn't care less, and the people that do prefer it gone. Ive never seen a cover discussion where someone said "this cover is pretty good, but what it really needs is a vibrant border!"
