Holy smokes, that looks EPIC! The effects are ridiculously good. Though, my mind is kinda foggy on the original, so I'm a little lost right now story-wise, but I'll be sure to watch the original before I watch this one.

The soundtrack is awesome too, as expected.

That trailer was pretty sweet and gave me chills. I admit I like the teaser trailer a bit more since there's more of a buildup in that one, but I'm still really impressed by what I'm seeing. I'm glad they're not being too spoilery with this ad campaign. The CG used to de-age Jeff is, for the most part, excellent. If nothing else, this film will be sleek eye candy (though, of course, I want it to really deliver in plot and characterization, too). Bring on December! :D

I was at work when you posted the video, so I had no speakers and waited until now to watch it... WOW. Looks great! I haven't seen the original in years, but it definitely feels like it has a different feel to it, which maybe is expected in a more modern film compared to an older one, but still...definitely excited.

While I loved the trailer, I was especially giddy at this shot:

Image

It's both fitting in the film (The Black Hole came out in 1979, and TRON in 1982), as the son could have the poster in his room.

And it's a nice meta-reference to the production team's project after TRON: Legacy.

:D

I LOVED that shot TOO! (The Rubik's Cube is a nice touch) And I LOVE this trailer! Looks like this is going to be awesome! Hope it is! And this is why I hate it when folks come in with, "Ugh, another '80's movie sequel." Hey, if done right, they can be awesome like anything else! There should be as much room for sequels out there as anything else. Also really psyched for the Roger Rabbit sequel, of course, though I'm not 100 percent confident in that one YET.

Let's just say the eight (!) minutes of footage shown at Comicon was an interesting teaser for what was to come... and the audience might make the final film. We had some instructions to make some various chants and sound FX during the presentation and they might be used in the releases cut

Plot for TRON: Legacy

Post by Rudy Matt »

I just saw the new trailer, and I think I now know what the plot is for Tron 2...

Don't know if I can call this a spoiler as I have no idea if this is correct, but from what I can infer, it appears that CLU from the original TRON is the antagonist of Tron: Legacy. Remember the first TRON film, where Flynn tells CLU he is the best program he's ever written, that he was written to be dogged and relentless?

Well, it looks like CLU has some abandonment issues, the exact same conflict Flynn's son has. Sam is on a mission to find his father, is angry at his father for leaving him. I bet CLU has the exact same issues, except he is much more violent and vengeful -- "dogged and relentless". Like a mix between The Terminator and Khan.

So CLU pulls Sam into the Tron World to use him to get to Flynn. CLU is probably very jealous of Sam, like sibling rivalry.

Anyway, all of this is speculation. We'll see what actually happens.

even though I think you're correct on the main theme of the story, this kind of belongs in the existing Tron Legacy topic

The Disney XD cable channel will present an animated mini-series in the fall (followed by a regular series, to be announced).
I wonder what they mean with 'regular' series, probably live-action. I wonder why they didn't opt for a show on the ABC network to get more adults to go see the movie.

Just reading everybody's thoughts on the panel and the new trailer. I'm glad that those who attended Comic-Con enjoyed the presentation, and I'm very happy to read all the positive response to the new trailer. I'm just as excited as you are for December 17th! :)

As always, thanks for posting all the news links! Just wanted to share one more piece of news with you: Marvel is releasing a comic book prequel in October that will serve as a bridge between the two movies. Would you guys be interested in reading that prior to the movie's release?

 :D

^ Says it all for me.

As for the TV series/mini series, will it be shown to Canadian audiences on some network like Family or YTV?

That actually sounds really great. I'm not much of a Marvel Comics person (at all), but a bridge between the 2 films, maybe tell what had been going on since Flynn had gone missing...that sounds like a good read.
