Personally I'm a huge fan of Betty White, so naturally I was delighted by the whole show, but it got me to recently thinking just who is my favorite reoccuring character she's done. Betty has appeared on numerous television shows, but it's always hard for me to pick my favorite.
As much as I love Golden Girls and Rose's character, I'd have to go with Sue Ann Nivens on "Mary Tyler Moore." Betty was just absolute perfection in that role - playing someone who appears sugary and sweet on the surface, but is a sardonic, vicious, man-hungry serpent underneath. I think it's perhaps the greatest performance she's ever done.
So who is your favorite character that she's portrayed, and/ or what do you enjoy most about her?

Rose Nylund, hands down, is my favorite role that she's played. Probably because I've always seen her more as Rose than as anyone else, as I've watched "The Golden Girls" constantly since I was little. She's become so identified in that role (for me) that seeing her in any other is always a bit odd. Especially Sue Ann. I mean, I love that character to bits as well, and she obviously did "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" before "The Golden Girls" but I feel like I'm watching Rose's evil twin whenever I watch an MTM episode with Sue Ann.
Also, it's always fun to catch a rerun of (any incarnation of) "Password" over the years and seeing her play. Especially in the final episode of "Super Password" when she destroys the Magic Toaster:

And of course, it's always fun watching her and husband Allen Ludden in the classic "Password" episode of "The Odd Couple":

I've unfortunately only seen her as Rose Nylund, as far as major roles go. I hope to see Mary Tyler Moore someday, as she looks like perfection in the few clips I've seen of the show.
I have seen her in a bunch of minor cameo roles in film and television (Ellen on Mama's Family, Kitty's Mother on That 70's Show, etc.), all of which she's been highlights as. She's just always been incredible in whatever she does. I do love her and I'm glad to see all the hype she's been getting lately. If anyone deserves it, she does.

Listening to most often lately:
Christina Aguilera ~ "Cruz"
Sombr ~ "homewrecker"
Megan Moroney ~ "Beautiful Things"

I think I've only seen her act as Rose, too, but she's always been my favorite Golden Girl!

I too only really know her as Rose on the Golden Girls.
But ofcourse, I've seen her in some movies and other shows, but always reminded me sorta of Rose.
Golden Girls is one of my favorite shows and I was so sad when Bea passed away and now Rue. I haven't seen the show since Bea died, but it will be so weird to watch, now that they are almost all gone.
