A WRINKLE IN TIME reactions

Post by Just Myself »

What did everyone think of Wrinkle in Time? I've yet to watch it, our kitchen is being redone and we had a HUGE surge of water all over the kitchen, so thank god I was taping it. Also did they mention anything about the Wrinkle in Time DVD?
Cheers,

I thought it was quite good. The special effects were certainly better than previous tv efforts like (ugh!) Dinotopia and a few others in recent years. ...I wish it had more of an edge to it. The book certainly did. But this tv movie was definitely aiming for general/family audiences.

Poor Gregory Smith. I'm sure he was upset that this movie aired the same night as his season finale for Everwood! His fans had to choose!
But...when did they film Wrinkle? Gregory looks so much younger than he does now!

I'm sure there will be a dvd within the next few months, and hopefully it will have done so well that they'll have to produce the sequels with the same cast.

I'm not quite sure what I thought about it overall. As a movie, especially as a made for tv movie, it was pretty good. The special effects were mostly pretty good, a notable exception being Mrs. Whatsit's centuar-like form *shudder*.

Being a fan of the book though, I couldn't get over some of the changes they made. Normally I'm ok with minor changes, but the character relationships seemed disjointed, as did the final confrontation with IT, who was mostly replaced with the less creepy "man with red eyes". I hate it when movies based on books change the endings.

Gregory Smith did an awesome job though.

I'm sorry, Aaron. Hope you catch it on DVD :)

It was ok. My expectations were not too high and so I was not really disappointed; however I did not really find it very engaging either. The book was definitely much better.

Unfortunately I missed a couple parts because the local ABC affiliate decided to interrupt the show on two different occassions in order to have the weatherman show radar maps of thunderstorms in the area. It always annoys me when they do that. I can understand occassionally running a little "Thunder Storm Warning" banner across the bottom of the screen or something like that, but totally replacing several minutes of the show with the weatherman is not necessary. If you tell me there is a storm warning across the bottom of the screen and I want to see weather maps, I will either switch channels to the Weather Channel or go online to one of the countless weather related websites.

My reaction is that they should've played it on another day. First, they played it on a school night, and then they hardly promoted it. I didn't even know it was on, until 11PM last night. Oh well, I'll have to watch it on DVD. I was really looking forward to it too.

I didn't like it at all. I was EXTREMELY disappointed at how unfaithful they were to the book, which is saying something because I'm one who encourages artistic license when adapting a book to film. The characters were completely different from their book counterparts except Charles Wallace, who was perfect. The CGI was so horrible that it looked like something from a Barbie movie, and the fact that they got rid of IT hit the nail in the coffin for this film to me. It's no wonder if kept getting pushed back for nearly 3 years...

Woohoo, I'm a 7th Heaven & Everwood fan as well, though 7th Heaven is really gettin pathetic. I still have to watch my taped copies of the last few weeks though, so don't tell me any details (for 7H, that is. Of course I've seen all the EWs :)).

I think this will probably come on DVD fairly soon. Did they say anything about it during the airing?

I have not seen "A Wrinkle In Time" yet maybe I watch it tonight.
I don't want it to get out of topic but, I'm a big The WB fan.
Oh yeah I must watch Smallville and Angel today!!! I taped it last night because I was watching That 70's show and American Idol.
7th Heaven Jeremy London was arrested so I guess the show will get even more pathetic.
Jessica Biel, David Gallagher and Barry Watson should all return for the last season of 7th Heaven next year.
But they might not want to due to their studies and fame.
