Thank you so much, each and every one of you! You can imagine I'm pretty excited over here.
This is the full pic I used to announce what's happening to the online world:
<object width="450" height="392"><param name="movie" value="http://backend.deviantart.com/embed/view.swf" /><param name="flashvars" value="id=168734281&width=1337" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><embed src="http://backend.deviantart.com/embed/view.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="450" flashvars="id=168734281&width=1337" height="392" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object>
<a href="http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/168734281/">Good and Evil United</a> by *<a class="u" href="http://enigmawing.deviantart.com/">enigmawing</a> on <a href="http://www.deviantart.com">deviant</a><a href="http://www.deviantart.com">ART</a>
Our avatars are still very fun to play with.
And yes, I even included my cat Koji (who is already conveniently dressed in a tuxedo).
Both the picture and the October setting imply a Halloween theme, but we'll be going with something more traditional (although having it on Halloween is not out of the question yet).
Rey's always used a devil image for his avatar since in RL he's often told he looks like one because of his goatee.
He and I "met" in a forum back in '05; he replied to one of my threads because he liked my artwork and soon joined deviantArt just to throw comments my way. We started talking in a chat room around that time and became best friends through the course of a year. Then in December of '06, things changed overnight.
I used to scoff at the very concept of "love at first site" or people saying they'd fallen in love online. I totally didn't think it was possible until it happened to me. When we found out our feelings were mutual (as well as wondering how in the heck it was possible) he asked if he could call me. It sounds crazy but from the moment we first spoke on the phone we simply knew we were getting married. No questions asked, somehow we just knew. We met in person for the first time a few months later, and at the end of the summer in '07 I took the biggest chance in my life, defying friends and family (not to mention all logic) by leaving everything behind in order to start my life over with him (I had to move halfway across the country and could only take what would fit in my car).
He's been very good to me. I'd been in really bad situation I'd rather soon forget and needed a fresh start. My life has completely turned around for the better since I've been with him; I can honestly say he's the best thing that's ever happened to me. We decided to take it slow with the whole marriage thing but since the time seems right we're finally taking the plunge. We'll be having the ceremony in Las Vegas where we currently live (no, Elvis will not be involved) and once again, the honeymoon will be at Disneyland (can't go wrong with that, right?).
And yes, he's a Disney fan.
Not quite as hardcore as me but he grew up minutes away from Disneyland in a family that loves the films and characters. We share an admiration for art in general and love discussing all sorts of related subjects. He's a great guy all-around and I never knew I could be so happy.
So thank you once again for all the congratulations, well-wishing, and music.
He's shy about posting photos online but I'll see what I can do when the time comes.

What a great story! It's amazing how everything worked out for you guys despite some of the issues you faced early on. Nowadays, people are such liars on the internet that its hard to trust people, but you have proven that there are indeed some great people as well.enigmawing wrote:Thank you so much, each and every one of you! Enigmawing's Getting Married!!!!
^ Goliath...that is very surprising coming from you after how you talked about marriage and fairy tales. But, I suppose this real life fairy tale couldn't be denied!
Enigmawing, by love at first site you mean you felt something when he first commented, or when you heard him on the phone? In any case, you prove Walt's "knowing they would be married at first sight or sound (of their singing)" can be real! Though your whole best friends for a year thing also sounds like Beauty and the Beast. In any case, it's a fairy tale come true!

Well, this thread isn't the appropriate place to discuss this. And, I really wish Enigmawing all the happiness in the world!Disney Duster wrote:^ Goliath...that is very surprising coming from you after how you talked about marriage and fairy tales. Re: Enigmawing's Getting Married!!!!
I want to thank everyone again for all the congratulations and well-wishes, and wanted to drop by with an update. This weekend is the big event, and I've been working hard the past weeks trying to organize, get things ready, and keep from losing my mind!
Rey's mom made my dress for me, and his family has put together most of the decorations and such. I think all I really have left to do is find a pair of shoes. Yikes, do you know how hard it is to find white flats after Labor Day?
Maybe I'll just walk down the aisle barefoot.

Rey said he knew there was something special about me the very first night we hit a chat room together, and he always refers to that as our first "meeting" (even though we'd "talked" a handful of times before in a forum thread). Although he drew my attention early on, I was in denial of my feelings for the longest time for several reasons.
But I knew I was in love with him months before I'd confessed, long before I'd ever spoken with him on the phone and long before I got to see him in person. And yes, several people that have heard our story have stated that we're some kind of fairy tale come true.
I wouldn't mind thinking of us as Beauty and the Beast; I'm a brunette in RL and he does have all that hair!
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to this, I've been so busy and just plain distracted.Disney Duster wrote:Enigmawing, by love at first site you mean you felt something when he first commented, or when you heard him on the phone? Relax, I'm sure everything will turn out fine, and you will have a wonderful weekend. And if you want to keep from losing your mind, all you have to do is put on that "Wedding Song" (which I'm still curious to know how you liked it --and be honest!).enigmawing wrote:I want to thank everyone again for all the congratulations and well-wishes, and wanted to drop by with an update. Congrats EW, I'm sure everything will be fine as you start a new journey with rey as husband and wife.
I hope the same can be said about me and my girlfriend, I love her so much.

Re: Enigmawing's Getting Married!!!!
Thanks enigmawing. Well, keep yourself sane. Think more about him than the big event, even think about how you too can rest up after it's over. Er..."rest up", haha. Well, I don't know if that'll work, but why not. And it is your wedding so your can do whatever you want, it must be how you want it, shoeless if you must!
Honestly, I think the barefoot idea would be pretty awesome, and cute, and very much in tune with nature, and like Aurora and Rapunzel, no less!
It is really nice though how your mom-in-law made your dress. That is so special.

You mean all they do is change colour? Causing mass hysteria? And all you can do is eat milk buds and popcorn? Really now, Papergino. Really now...pap64 wrote:Heh, I like to compare the story of my best friend and his fiance to that of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, especially since their story is so similar to the movie... save for magic roses, enchanted servants and a big musical score.
Anyway, enigmawing, good luck for the weekend! I hope you have a whale of a time.
