TheSequelOfDisney wrote:DisneyPrincessSyndrome, I didn't read your whole story because well, I really don't care that much, but why in the world would anyone ever purchase something that he or she doesn't know what it is? It doesn't really make that much sense to me. I'm not attacking, I just don't see why this would ever happen in the first place. I'm just confused. Maybe I should have read the story first? I don't know. Whatever.
TheSequelofDisney - uhh you really do need to read the stories. Her sister has autism...which it's hard to explain exactly. I have a type known as Asperger Syndrome however its more High Functioning than other Autism...Autism has many different conditions and it sounds like her sister has more severe case of Autism which idk what kind Autism her sister has but if you remember the Movie Rain Man or rent it or do history on it. He had something called Savants Syndrome sometimes referred to as Idiot Savants which is a type of high functioning autism however it's very differ... There are a lot of Autism besides Asperger and Savants. It's a very complicated thing of the mind and I think it would do you some good to please re-read her story because the line you don't really care that much.....so I would encourage you to read her posts in their entirely other than skimming though it. You may not understand it entirely when you read it however Autism is something in a way...no one understands who doesn't have someone they know personally with autism or within a family

Sorry for getting off Topic.....Also if I had money DisneyPrincessSyndrome I would buy your family a blu ray player or probably a PS3 given your situation. I sold a lot of beanie babies and got a PS3 back when they were more expensive. that's the only way I have a PS3. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Take one day at a time and sometimes if thats not working take one minute or one hour at a time. Your sister is lucky to have a sister like you as are you to have her.

Thank you disneyboy for that clarification. I really appreciate it because it really does take a toll on my family. And my sister does have severe autism.

I'm not saying that Disney should just stop with the combo packs, even though I know it'll happen at some point, but I'm just saying that I think the company poorly executed the whole thing. I'm not completely blaming Disney for what happened because stuff like this happens all the time in my family, but I just was really disappointed that Disney basically lied. I had hoped the DVD wouldn't have too much difference from the BR (since Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio didn't have that same problem), and when I watched the DVD and found out I was wrong, I was really unhappy. And judging by the way everything went last year, I have a sinking feeling that BatB won't dazzle me with this new DVD release, but we'll buy it anyway because it's an old family favorite for my sister and I.

Sorry for all the trouble, but I was just trying to convey that I was one of those people dissatisfied and disappointed last year. As much as my dad and I would like to invest in Blu-Ray, it's not in our near future (or many people's, when one thinks about it). Buying the PS3 for the BRs seems like a good idea, but we're not a gamer kind of family that could put the PS3 to good use so if we invested in BR at any time, we'd probably just get the actual player.

I do want to say DisneyPrincessSyndrome, that I hope you do someday soon get to own your favorite Disney movies to keep just for yourself, either asking them for Christmas and birthday, or getting money from a part-time job or something.

Also, I hope you can teach your sister not to bully to get what she wants, ina very nice way, so that she'll be nicer asking for something, but I know it's hard. I'm just saying I hope someday that can happen.

Your Very welcome, My dad also has Asperger Syndrome as does my Girlfriend and so do I which well.....it can get a little chaotic anyway...

The Benefit of a PS3 over a regular Blu Ray Player is that some Blu ray players need to have updates called firmware....which can only be accessed through the internet via broadband hooking up an ethernet cable to the blu ray player and there are blu ray players that have wi-fi built it but it costs more. however other than the 20GB PS3 (which I have because I lacked $100 to get the super 60GB) they can all have this firmware update wirelessly with every PS3 and sometimes in my opinion a PS3 is just fine for a Blu ray usage...a lot of people have bought PS3s for a Blu ray player and only watch Blu rays.. Also DVDs play on Blu ray Players and PS3s. You know....you and your familiy might be eligible for something like Make-A-Wish or Dream Factory. Some people think it's just for kids who have cancer or worse, however Autism has become something like a life-altering thing. And your sister could make a wish I bet. It might be possible. I made a Wish back in 2003 to Meet Roy E Disney the late nephew of Walt Disney and I was able to make the wish because my doctor said I have had a lot of life altering things in medical history with my Autism, My Crohn's My cleft Palate etc...so it might be something you could look into....you never know.

This is my story

I've never seen that one before. I love how, even with the poor television broadcast/video tape quality, Belle's hair is still brown. I'd love Disney to get the source they used to animate that, maybe CAPS, and include that as an extra. I always loved the animated presenters at the Oscars.

That would make an awesome easter egg. The animation in that clip's fantastic, and I agree: it's interesting that Belle's hair is dark brown ala promotional materials and the original release, but I won't open THAT can of worms again...

And speaking of vintage Beauty and the Beast stuff on YouTube, the 1991 Disney Channel special has (finally) made it online:

Disney Duster: I've been wishing that for years, but it's not much longer before I graduate high school so I'll just to wait till then to start my collection. And we actually have been helping my sister out with that. She's still a bully - it's way too deep in her nature - but she's much better about things.

disneyboy - That's a good point. Thank you for the advice; it'll have to convince my parents to invest in a PS3, but maybe I can help them get closer to turning over to Blu-Ray. And my prayers go out to your family; that many people with disabilities is definitely more difficult than just one. And I've always wondered if my sister could do a Make-a-Wish since it's my favorite organization after Autism Speaks for obvious reasons. Our family wish to spend a vacation at Disneyland or Disney World, but the prices are too high for us to go to Disneyland as often as some of my friends. But I'll definitely look into letting my sister make a wish; it'd be amazing if she had one granted!

All of those clips are adorable! Makes me wish I had been old enough to remember when BatB came out, but I wasn't born yet. :]

This ends any debate about the aspect ratio, which will now be 1:78:1 (matted from 1:66:1 to 1:85:1 in theaters). It also re-confirms that the new music video will in fact be performed by Jordin Sparks. What I find odd is the accompanying DVD including the Original Storyboard Version instead of the WiP version? The Original Storyboard Version includes no footage from the movie, not utilizing seamless branching like the WiP version would, and could really end up being more compressed then the Platinum DVD was as a result. I have to think that's a mistake but we'll see.

Nice Features.
Original Theatrical Release
Notice how it says "release" and not "length", or "version". It's "release" and we should hold them to it.

The "ALL-NEW Restoration" brings up 3 possibilities: that they're using the special edition, they fucked the colors up more, or they actually used the original colors this time around, with the SE re-animation intact.

Did they drop the extensive galleries? :?

Also hoping to get it on the relative cheap with BOGOF offers since I can't actually watch Blus.

I can't wait for Beauty and the Beast Blu-ray. Finally Disney get a real singer instead of a Disney Channel star. Can't wait to hear Jordin Sparks singing her own version of Beauty and the Beast. Hopefully for now on Disney gets real singers.

Is there any word of this getting a collector's edition box set/special packaging or something? I just got the regular BD of Snow White, as this and Aladdin are the only two I would buy collector's sets of.
It would be a shame if we didn't get a book set or something, as I would think this is one of the more popular Disney classics.

Hate to burst your bubble... but if all three versions are on one disc, we're going to see the same "Original Theatrical" as we did on the Platinum DVD. There is no way they can fit all three versions of the film one disc properly.

The 'all new restoration' is already wrong, since there's nothing to restore.

The storyboard version was going to be a PiP thing, wasn't it? So, two versions of the movie (not even three hours in length) would fit, although they'll probably go with seamless branching.

Random question:

If I go to the 24-hour Walmart, what are the chances I should be able to pick it up at 12:01 AM?
Man has a dream
And that's the start
He follows his dream
With mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true
For you and me!

It's a very good chance you will....I've gotten the Platinums at wal-mart at midnight and it usually goes well

now I did go at midnight to get Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on blu ray however there was major confusion between the DVD Case and the blu ray case. The employees thought for sure the DVD case didn't have a blu ray when I told them it did.....they kept insisting no no it would be in a Blu ray case if it had a blu ray in it...

I believe that confusion was brought to us by Disney Marketing. If it's easy...complicate it :P
