And the May DVD flood begins...

Post by Paka »

So, just curious as to what you'll be buying this Tuesday, if anything. I have just a teeny list of potential May 4th titles, but there's tons more to be had.

Lots of TV seasons sets coming out, like Law & Order: Season 2, Three's Company: Season 2, The Osbournes 2½ (ACK! Another fraction title! O_o), Party of Five: Season 1, The Bernie Mac Show: Season 1, and Gilmore Girls: Season 1.

There's classic collections like The Best of Abbot and Costello: Volume 2, and The Marx Brothers Collection. Some indie stuff like Elephant or Girl With a Pearl Earring, and of course, girly fluff like Chasing Liberty and Calendar Girls. Only kidding 'bout the last one. ;)

I myself would like to get Triplets, Peter Pan, and the first season of Samurai Jack - dunno if I have the funds, but I'll manage. Heh - putting that tax refund to good use, doncha know! :P

Definitely getting Peter Pan, and then probably The Last Samurai too.

EDIT: Doh! I just noticed the "2 or more" option. Guess I should've chosen that one.

Wow, I must be having an out of body experience or something because there is not a single DVD on that list I even remotely want to buy!

(Maybe Law & Order Season 2, but that's only for Mother's Day...).

That week I will be buying the Australian release of Voyager: Season 1 - does that count?

Well, on Tuesday, I'm getting Monarch of the Glen: Series Two ... and later in May, the first season of Northern Exposure. There are a few others that would be nice (like Season Two of The West Wing), but those are the ones I've allotted for ...

Well I really can't get anything this tuesday, as I'm saving my money for the 4 treasures sets coming out as well as Buffy season 6, also I have just discovered this new and used DVD's and CD's store about 20 (by car) from my house, probably 4 hours by foot, which is how I'll probably need to get there...

They have some pretty decent prices on their new stuff, so I think I may be stopping there in the coming month of 2 to make a big purchase.

I am still trying to get the seasons of The Next Generation on DVD, I got season 3 for x-mas in 2002, and that's it, so my goal is to by the end of the year, have the whole season, or atleast most of it, cause I just think it is one of those great seires, that deserves a space on the shelf.

There are some other series I'd like to collect to, as well as some dvd's that I've had my eye on like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 2 disc Collector's Set - the new one.

Anyway, so yeah, this is certainly going to be an expensive month!

...and few other's I'm forgetting ....

Gonna be an expensive month.

This week 3: Last Samurai, Peter Pan, Calendar Girls. I'm considering the first Herbie sequel (only widescreen one, wouldn't buy the other 2 Fullscreen jobs even if they were better movies).

Also this month 3 of the Treasures, ROTK, Great Escape SE, Saving Private Ryan SE, Miracle, Paycheck. June is going to be as busy for me if not busier.

Okay after reading the DVDTalk review, I think I may be picking up Samurai Jack: Season One as well. But then the 11th is Invader Zim: Volume One and the 18th is Smallville: Season Two, Miracle, and the Treasures. Too much to buy....

I would like to see Triplets of Belleville, it may be a blind purchase for me, just not right now. The Disney Treasures sets take priority this month. Plus, I am getting ready to go on a lil trip very soon, so I got to save money!

I picked up Peter Pan today, but I'm starting to regret it. I still have to get Scary Movie 3, Return of the King, maybe the Treasures sets (I might just wait for them to be released without the tins so that they'll match the first 7... thoughts?), and I'll probably pick up a few Disney movies via DMC as well.

I wouldn't plan on them being rereleased like that, not to say they won't be, but I think it would piss a lot of people off if they did.

The box sets of the Treasures, that were sold in Costcos around America were made from damaged and unsold tins, that were shipped back to the factories, or atleast that's what I was made to believe and makes the most sense, I do not think they just made more sets after saying that they were limited to just (however many they were limited to, 125,000 each?) Also the whole reason these were delayed in the first place, was so that they would have time to make more, to increase the production number, to be able to accomidate eveyone that wanted to purchase them. Why would they do that if they were just going to turn around and produce more and sell them w/o the tins?

Anyway, I just recomend buying them, if you want to display them outside their tin cases so that theyy match the others in your collection then fine, just stick the tins in storage. :)
