would we rather have another circle of crappy stars to ruin a Disney song? i mean, they already messed up 'a whole new world'... let's just be happy someone who can sing and is already well known does it.... instead of introducing another Christina Aguilera to the world (biggest mistake Disney ever made)

I think the DVD should include Peabo Bryson and Regina Bell's "A Whole New World", considering it was made at the time of the actual release. As much as I can't stand that song, I'd rather see it than a Clay Aitken (sp?) video.

I'm positive the DVD will include Peabo & Regina's version... It was a big hit and is the official theme song of the film.

Sigh...why not just get Brad Kane back? He did Aladdin's singing voice in the original movie and the cheapquels and TV show, so he would be the best to do it.

Hmm... well when I first read this, I assumed that they'd have Clay sing a stylized pop version of it, but still have Brad Kane sing the regular song. I guess that was just wishful thinking. If there is only one version, as much as I love Clay's voice, in my mind Brad Kane simply is Aladdin and I'd prefer that he sing it.

Hi, everyone I'm new here. Well I'm not a huge Clay fan so this doesn't change anything about me getting the DVD. I do have to add that I like all the Disney Channel actors.

Clay isn't too bad. Not into his music, but I'm much less disgusted than I would've been if the no-talent-ass-clown on the left side of the user-above-me's avatar was on the DVD.

This news has ruined what so far was a darn good weekend. There is a "special" feature I shall never watch. I like Loomis' idea about what to do to all American Idol contestants.

I will treat this extra like I've treated all the other similar ones... I probably won't watch it. It doesn't make me mad or anything, maybe I will watch it once just to hear the song that could have been, but I could care less who sings it.

I don't think it will be terrible, infact it might wind up being quite good, but as I said before, I just don't think Clay was the best choice, but I also don't think Brad Kane would have been the best choice either. I think instead they should have gotten a boy to sing it, because it was meant to be sung by a much younger Aladdin.

It really is a great song, so anyone who bashes the song, really doesn't know what they are talking about.

I really hope, and have every reason to believe, that Alan Menken's version will be on the DVD, because he really did an awesome job with it, those with the Music Behind the Magic set, know what I'mm talking about.

I cannot wait for this DVD!!!! I'm even anticipating it more than Mulan!!! :P

This is sure to be a killer DVD!!! (Clay Aiken aside, who I again acknowledge is a great singer  )

I just don't understand this. Snow White had the perfect re-rendering of Someday my prince will come! I don't even like Barbra! But I didnt like her remake of the song. It still had the DIsney magic but it was contemporary. I just don't know why they can't follow that example.

I liked Barbara's version, too. I think the reason that worked better than other DVD music videos was because it was mature. Lately Disney has been catering to teeny pop masses, but Barbara's song hearkened back to the older days of Disney when each classic had a pop tune that appealed to adults (Celine Dion/Peabo Bryson's Beauty and the Beast, Elton John's Circle of Life and Can You Feel the Love Tonight, etc.). I wish Disney would continue in that classy adult style with all of their pop tunes, then the new videos wouldn't be so bad.

I never saw American Idol or heard Clay sing, so this doesn't really change my opinions on the Aladdin dvd. I am looking foward to hearing the new song though! :)

I am scared and yet quite curious

Let's hope that the Dvd will have the original theatrical version as it actually was back in 1992

I dont mind restoration, but it's reanimating I'm against. I was completely outraged that Disney would rip us off on the Lion King Plantinum DVD by using the poorly done IMAX version as the "original theatrical version". Let's hope they dont rip us off on Aladdin

I still find it strange that Clay Aiken is becoming more popular than Ruben Studdard in the music industry when it was Ruben, not Clay who won American Idol

You took the words from my mouth right up until you said that Brad Kane may not be the best choice. The song was made for a much younger Aladdin, if fact, if you watch the movie there is still a scene in the movie where he is a young boy because they didn't reanimate it to be an older Aladdin(most of you probably know about this, so I won't go into details). But isn't it that now it is for the older Aladdin? And if so, then I don't see a better choice than Brad Kane. I'm not saying that I don't like Clay, I do, I would just like to hear it by Kane.

Although...I'd also rather have the princess song(I forgot what it was called) that is done by Jasmine, but I guess that wouldn't have worked since the song was made when they made Jasmine spoiled, her personally is much different from the song, now.
So now I guess I'd like to see Humiliate the Boy! Too bad Proud of Your Boy is already chosen... :P

I don't like Proud of Your Boy, and I know what I'm talking about. I've heard it many, many times, and I still don't like it.

I was hoping for Humiliate the Boy to get in, too! Even though I knew it wouldn't, I just love this song! Okay, maybe it is a little too cruel for Disney, but couldn't they just change the lyrics a little?

Now, no song is going to be in, which makes me sad. :( I wanted a new song!

Dear God Man......Watch What you're Saying

We do NOT want a "new" song put back in this film. Fully animated segments as special features are one thing, but this 'put back in the film' business needs to stop! Whew.........excuse while I scream in my room....

Sorry about that. Now on topic: I really enjoy this song, "Proud of Your Boy" and while I DON'T like Clay Aiken I can see him doing an adequate job. As far as I know, there is no Brad Kane version recorded of this song. It was cut before they started recording the soundtracks. The only audio version available is sung by Alan Menken (At least I think it's him singing). What I think would be a more effective and better special feature of this song, would be getting Brad Kane to come back and sing, or just have the demo recording available (i.e. The "Human Again" track on the Beauty and the Beast dvd). It would be nice to see storyboards with this song as well.

However, I fear what will happen will be a pop music video version with finished clips from the movie ONLY as recorded by Clay Aiken. This will be nice for kiddies and Clay Aiken fans, but not so much for Aladdin fans and Disney fans......who this DVD should really be made for anyway.

I've seen this movie so many times that I would like to see something new put in, and since the original version will also be there, it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

And why did you say "We do not?" I'm sure that there are lots of people that would like to see something new. Maybe not on this forum, but still lots of people.

He says that because when they do add something new, we don't get the original version of the film. They lied about it with Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, 2 classics that DO NOT contain the original theatrical versions on DVD. If they would honestly put the original versions out in addition to the new versions, I don't think anyone would really mind.
