Hmmm I was wondering with BATB being converted into 3D for release in 2010 could they possibly delay it to next year?

So whilst Bambi will still come out in March, Lion King gets pushed to 2012 after it is probably also going to be converted into 3D?

Then you'd have both Fantasias, Dumbo and *just maybe even* Pocahontas 15th Anniversary in November/December.

With Disney pushing back, canceling and doing all kinds of nonsense it wouldn't be unforeseeable.

It's all but confirmed that it's delayed to Christmas 2011.

Here's what they'll do:

They'll hype up the October release.

They'll pull it off the shelves in January.

They'll take advantage of the people who missed out to hype up the 3D release at the end of the year.

People, what are you all doing? You know there's absolutely no predictability, logic or coherence in Disney's releasing policies.

One of Disney's many faults.

Can't believe Aladdin got shafted from the Diamond line...

They put alot of effort into each release. the picture and sound on both have been absolutely stunning from snow white to princess and the frog. and the princess and the frog has ONE of the best disney bluray bonuses thus far, the work in progress version of princess and the frog.

The PQ/AQ was never in question as Disney has proven to be the most consistent in quality as far as that is concerned. I'm talking purely on supplemental material and some of the earlier releases seemed very half-assed to me: Cars, Ratatouille, Dinosaur, Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, and most recently with Bolt. I don't consider getting the same movie in 3 different formats as putting together a great set. Compare Ratatouille's Blu-ray release to Wall-E's 2-disc set, now there's an example of effort. That is what I'm looking for. As far a The Princess and the Frog is concerned, I was expecting more then the stuff I already watched on the net. Seriously, this is their big comeback to traditional animation and they don't have more to say about. Just some quick shots of the people who worked on it, gushing over it, and stating how much they want it to do well, nothing really that informative. Its alright, a step up from their recent CG DAC releases, but barely an hour of behind-the-scenes, that includes deleted scenes and the music video. To me, its a $10 or less set, but Disney won't offer those who don't need the combo pack a coupon, so I'll skip it.

These 3-disc Blu-ray sets (Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy) just don't seem like something a lot of effort was put into, as opposed to the 3-disc DVD sets studios used to put out, which usually represented a lot of effort being put into the supplemental material. As I said before, I can wait. I know for a fact that better sets will be released once the studios stop including DVD and digital copies with their releases and marketing has to turn to supplemental material again to sell these sets (at first they though BDLive would be huge but they dropped it now that they figured out the DVD/digital copy thing is a bigger draw). Right now marketing has found an easier and cheaper way of enticing people to buy these but the merits of DVD and digital copies will fade in time and quality sets will come back in style.

Second, which 10 were worthy?
I'll assume you're asking how many Disney DVDs I have and that would be 7: Lilo and Stitch, Mulan, Brother Bear, Aladdin, Bambi, and the last two I had given to me but don't care for, Atlantis and Treasure Planet (my dog ate Atlantis, so it really shouldn't count). I own 3 Disney Blu-rays: Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio, and Snow White, all of which are fantastic.

Hmmm, I have to say, I'm not terribly excited for another Bambi release, as I dont have a Blu player, the '2 Disc DVD' will be dire, so think I'll stick to my Special Edition / Platinum Edition.

It's really gonna depend on the special features for me.

For a film that doesnt have a lot of stored goodies in the vault, the 2 disc Plantinum was pretty good. I dunno what kind of special features they would have available to top it.

Well, since they're announcing Bambi as the next Diamond Edition, I guess that means it's the Spring 2011 release, and The Lion King will be Fall 2011 (usually go that pattern of classic in the Spring and the big ones in Fall for Christmas). This means we get Beauty and the Beast, Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, Dumbo, and Bambi all within the same 6 month time frame. My poor wallet.

This film amazed me when it came out on DVD. I watched twice in a row after getting it at midnight on it's release lol. Since then it's also become one of my favorite films Disney ever made. The music throughout the film is also absolutely breathtaking. It's one of my favorite Disney scores! I can't imagine many more special features they could release with it though, since there seems to be a lot missing about the film. I hope they've made some sort of cool discovery to make a good something or another about.

I cannot wait to see the bluray!!!!! :D

All those releases, even though I already have Dumbo, will leave my wallet feeling blue.

Should hope it remains as such because Disney may decide to delay it if they think they are releasing too many in such a short timeframe.

Also don't forget Rapunzel, so they're really killing you if they do release 6 within 6 months.

Beauty and the Beast is locked down and going to be a big title seller anyway so Disney won't move that.

Fantasia/2000 are more niche and Disney will hope the Christmas season will get people to spend on something they might not have.

Rapunzel will be released for sure because it's a new release.

That leaves the still in limbo Dumbo and Bambi.

Disney surely want to keep their schedule so Bambi should be on.

I think they should never have bumped Dumbo but now that everyone has it they have to release it soon. I think accompanying BATB is a good idea.

That way Disney could release 4 titles a year, 2 Diamonds and 2 companions, hell since they suck at their non-Diamond titles, it'd only be 1 per year with the other being Disney's new release.

They really should release one or two in mid-year to stop the huge gap. Like, they should release one of Tarzan, Hunchback, Hercules, Mulan, Pocahontas, Lilo, Emperor's New Groove or Brother Bear next summer.

How come it says "Walt Disney" instead of just "Disney" on top of the title? Don't they now just use "Disney" on top of all their releases both animated and live-action? For example on the new blu-ray & DVD release of Beauty and the Beast it says just "Disney".

I believe how it goes is that the films that had involvement from Walt Disney himself have his full name. The Snow White Blu-Ray also has "Walt Disney" above the title.
