The animation looks gorgeous. <3
I've partially come to accept that Flynn's being marketed as the main character, but it's a shame they didn't show Gothel.
And "Like...Forever"? As an actual valley girl, I have to say, WTF?

The good:
-Fantastic animation, absolutely gorgeous
-Rapunzel is beautiful
-Flynn has a good rugged yet goofy look
-The chameleon
The bad:
-Pop song
-Ridiculous text like 'She's been grounded FOREVER'
-Stupid line by the main character
-Unfunny humour
-Making Flynn the main character
I know I'll probably like the movie but they aren't going to upend what PATF did with this kind of trailer/marketing. I don't think any little boy is going to see this and that's obviously who Disney are trying to market to with this.
To whoever said at least it's not like Shrek, the first Shrek, was much better than the humour shown to us so far. I'm sure it's funnier in context and with proper score accompanying it but that bloody bad song with the ugly text makes it out to be completely devoid of humour.
Hope they wisen up otherwise I'll be watching this all by my lonesome in the cinema.

I noticed those too- so cute!Margos wrote:... Wait a minute! Correct me if I'm wrong, but go back to the last page and look at that beautiful still of Rapunzel... Look very, very closely at the space between her nose and eyes.
Are those....
FRECKLES!?!?
OMGWTFBBQ!! Glen Keane got his Christmas wish! First Disney Princess with freckles, woohoo!
Rapunzel and Flynn both look a little different from the other images we've seen of them, but I like the differences. Rapunzel's design works much better in the trailer than it has on any of the clip art.
LOL I'm glad you're excited, but she's had freckles in the artwork we've seen. She's so cute!Margos wrote:... Wait a minute! Correct me if I'm wrong, but go back to the last page and look at that beautiful still of Rapunzel... Look very, very closely at the space between her nose and eyes.

maybe Disney should try marketing their movies... you know... authentically. Show the movie for what it is. They didn't do it for PATF and they're messing it up again here.
Ah well... Slapping this in front of TS3 will give it some exposure and awareness. But boys could care less about this I assure you.

I honestly think they marketed Princess and the Frog the best they could. The first trailer used nostalgic advertsing, while the second featured what the story was about. The commercial was on my television all the time. The next best thing was for Oprah to have done a segment on it for her show. I don't know if that would have helped or not. Another possiblity was to release it on November 25th, instead of December 11th.

they emphasized the whole "classiness" of the film and the princess aspect too much. Even though the film was more or less a musical comedy in line with Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Jungle Book and Hercules. It has less in common with Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.. but trailers used cheesy epic music that wasn't even in the film and focused on human Tiana... she was human for like 15 minutes. It was all false marketing. If they had marketed the film exactly for what it was people would have gotten the idea of Disney returning to its roots anyway.Poody wrote:Agreed, but what did you think they marketed P&TF as? Wasn't the trailer that was approved to be placed in front of TS3 2:30 mins long? This teaser is only 2:06 mins.
Perhaps we're getting something a bit more extended for TS3 than this early teaser. Maybe it'll even have Gothel in it and more lines from Rapunzel like the leaked trailer did!!!
As far as the trailer being Flynn-centric, has it occurred to anyone else that this film may be more from his point of view to begin with? If that is true, then it would account for the title change because it isn't exactly Rapunzel's story anymore... it's Flynn's story about how he found Rapunzel. Just something I thought of the other day.

I'm absolutely loving what I see on screen here. I personally would have chosen another marketing approach and gone for a classic Disney fairytale trailer, with less of a contemporary feel but with more class, mystery and epic quality. My dream teaser trailer would just be a montage of the scene of Flynn entering the tower, being tossed around by Rapunzel's hair, being tied up and then ending with the shot of Rapunzel stepping into the light and revealing her face. Some epic music under it and you'd have fantasy, fairytale, focus on both characters and plenty of action and humor, but still have it feel like a classy Disney movie. Which is kind of lost with these title cards.
BUT, on to the good stuff. The art direction looks absolutely exquisite, after examining every frame in great detail it's amazing how rich this movie is. The textures, the leaves and flowers in the forest and on the tower, the clothes of the characters with stitching and patterns and worn down leather, the faces with freckles and the beautiful hair and beard and sideburns all the singularly planted hairs on their scalps. It's truelly stunning!
And then the animation! I've never seen it so fluid and so well at applying 2D principles in it's animation. I made an example of Flynn below. The squash and stretch while his face is punched is really difficult to do in 3D and was rarely executed so well but was one of the great strengths in 2D to exxagerate motion and movement. It's remarkeable and I REAALLY am TERRIBLY excited about this movie! Stunning!!!

That's an interesting trailer. I'm not happy about some of the written stuff like "grounded forever" or the pop song and I would've liked to see a more traditional trailer approach but for the most part the trailer's enjoyable.
It'll be interesting to hear more news about the film in the future. I'd also like to hear some samples of Menken's music eventually.

lol, it won't let me access the page.
That's who that was...never heard of her. No, seriously, I don't pay attention to what goes in the music industry or who you young people listen to. I thought it was a Miley Cyrus or Taylor Swift song or something. Then again, I've never heard Swift sing and have only heard of her because of the Kanye West incident.aurum-femina wrote: And on the P!nk song used in the trailer

Really? I would've thought she was as well-known as Rihanna or something.estefan wrote:lol, it won't let me access the page.
