Hopefully, it will be likely someday. Maybe as an Easter Egg on the DVD.Flanger-Hanger wrote:Now that's interesting! Like Scaps I hadn't seen those last two cells before.
It's Gross, but I'd still love to see all of it restored or in its original film form.
But for some reason, the guy in the cels reminds me of Amos Slade from The Fox and the Hound.

I wish they had kept that in the film. They were going for something more 'mature,' and the movie seems incomplete without it--like it's missing its centerpiece.
But, really, if anyone had seen that, Disney would never be called 'childish' again.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

Eww... yeah, I had only seen the first one, too. The third one isn't too bad. That second one, though.... *shudders*

Apparently, people assume the G rating on Disney's movies means "only for kids", when some of Disney's G rated movies seem more adult. Those nitwits forget that G means it's for everybody, not just kids!Disney's Divinity wrote:I wish they had kept that in the film. Now, I am SERIOUSLY wishing Disney would release this uncut!

Technically speaking, isn't this one PG anyway? They might as well throw it in.DisneyJedi wrote:Apparently, people assume the G rating on Disney's movies means "only for kids", when some of Disney's G rated movies seem more adult. Those nitwits forget that G means it's for everybody, not just kids!

Well, that depends if it changes the movie's rating. You think if they DID release it uncut, they'd change the rating or release it unrated?enigmawing wrote:Technically speaking, isn't this one PG anyway? I find it weird how people use the term "uncut" to mean something being put back into the movie that was originally exhibited in the theatrical cut, when technically "uncut" should mean something entirely different, as "uncut" means not cut at all, and in that case, the movie would be very, very long indeed.DisneyJedi wrote:Well, that depends if it changes the movie's rating. From the Main page today:
"June 11, 2010 - Disney has announced a release date for the oft-delayed new edition of one of their lowest regarded animated films. The Black Cauldron: 25th Anniversary Edition will arrive on DVD on September 14th at a $19.99 list price with long-overdue 16:9 enhancement.
Extras will include the new Witches' Challenge game, the Quest for Black Cauldron game, Donald Duck and his nephews in the classic short Trick or Treat, a still gallery, and a deleted scene."
Great news to hear it's now named a "25th Anniversary Edition" and that the still gallery will be carried over. Only thing that would likely be missing is the original theatrical trailer.

For those who don't own the movie at all yet, this new DVD is worth a pick-up.The_Iceflash wrote:So, here's the question of the day Blu-ray owners, do we hold out for a future BD release or get the new 25th Anniversary DVD?
I own the previous DVD release, and even though it's not 16 X 9 enhanced, it will serve me well enough for now. I gave it a 4/5 rating on my last viewing, and it's not one that I will watch over and over. I might cave in and get the new DVD if I see it for $5 somewhere.
Those who love the movie should get the new edition because a Blu-ray release is unlikely in the near future.

A Blu-ray of this one would be nice but considering its status, they probably won't get around to releasing it on Blu until almot everything else in their animated catalog has been put out first. Given that the Platinums (er, Diamonds) and Dumbo are the only titles so far confirmed for Blu release ,I don't have a problem buying thsi one on DVD because it will obviously be several years until the Blu shows up.

Interesting. Too bad they don't have a backstage documentary or history of Black cauldron development. Since although BC fail at BO, it actually the main turning point for "new Disney which is TLM, BatB, TLK, etcFlanger-Hanger wrote:From the Main page today:
