Really? At first glance, I thought of that one dog from The Aristocats.

That's exactly what I thought.

You know what, that dog DOES kind of look like the dog, Lafayette, from Disney's, "The Aristocats." I am surprised how Disney sometimes uses the same dog for some movies to get the animation done quicker.

Does anyone here know whether or not the 2 1/2 minute trailer will be unchanged from the leaked trailer a few months ago (apart from the footage being completed)? Because I noticed that the leaked trailer was roughly the same length, 2 minutes 25 seconds...

I have a feeling that the trailer for Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," will be based on the leaked trailer. Only this time, fully animated than just a rough art. That leaked trailer is a prototype, and the upcoming trailer along with Disney and Pixar's, "Toy Story 3," will be the complete version based on the leaked version. There could be new materials added for the new and complete trailer since the leaked trailer lasts for 2 min. 25 sec., and the complete trailer for 2 min. 30 sec.

And Lafayette is...bigger? This dog looks smaller to me...

Visiting the hat building this morning, I got a taste of fresh Disney product ...

The flat-screen monitors in the lobby hallway have a big chunk of unfinished animation (and by unfinished, I mean that there's no lighting,texturing, or finaling.) Upstairs an animator said:

"We're working fifty-hour weeks, but it'd be nice to know what we're doing next.
"I think the picture is pretty good. It's a lot like a Broadway musical, like the features from the early nineties. Songs are good ..."

I have no idea about the overall quality of the feature, but from the finaled shots I've seen on first-floor computer screens, the art direction is gorgeous.

During my research on the translation of that article posted above I came across these two designs on Jin Kim's blog, character designer for "Tangled". Which are clearly from the earlier, abandonned version of Rapunzel:

The dog comes from the time when the story was still the modernized version where Rapunzel and her prince would be turned into a squirrel and a bassett hound and a modern day couple would be transported back to fairytale land to take their place as Rapunzel and the prince. We've already seen other artworks involving the bassett hound and the squirrel, including that piece of test animation from a few years ago where Rapunzel is talking to a squirrel:

I think that was the case, that both were turned into animals and the couple from contemporary new york took their place. Not entirely sure, but 80% sure!

that's what I recall as well. Sounded stupid back then and it still does. So glad they never made that.

We seriosul don't need a dog. Disney has enough dog characters out already. Let something else in for change, which is why i like the chameleon being the animal mascot for this film.

this is from an interview with Kristin Chenoweth from 2004:

Kristin Chenoweth is going to be the speaking and singing voice of Rapunzel in Disney's upcoming animated movie Rapunzel Unbraided, according to Sci Fi Wire.

"I am Rapunzel, but Rapunzel is a squirrel," Chenoweth said in an interview. "I can't really tell you much more [about the story] than that, other than I'm a squirrel and I'm going to let down my tail."

Chenoweth added that she has a good feeling about Rapunzel, which is very loosely based on the Grimm Brothers' fairy tale. "That is going to be really special," she said. "I've always had this dream of being a Disney character, and now I'm going to get to do that. It's also a musical, so I'll get to sing. It's interesting, because they take the camera in [while recording her voice], and they film you doing your thing, so that they can draw the character like you and use your mannerisms. It's a cool process."

Rapunzel Unbraided, which marks the directorial debut of veteran Disney animator Glen Keane, will be released in 2007.

Will be released in 2007 LOL anyway, goes to show you how long this project is in devellopment and how much has changed! 2004 is already 6 years ago, when Chenoweth was still attached, and before her Reese Witherspoon was doing Rapunzel's voice. To this day, when posting Rapunzel topics on general pop culture blogs and websites like "Ohnotheydidn't" I get dozens of replies how they are bummed that Chenoweth is off the project. Well, she has been for over 5 years now LOL

yeah. What Disney needs is a cat......one that's not evil, nor is it an aristocat. Have the roles switch: make the dog evil and have a good guy cat. I dont have anything against dogs, of course!

Well, there's Mittens who served as a co-lead protagonist and she was a street-cat. And though not evil, Bolt was somewhat deluded, lol.

There's also Oliver, who was in a film with a mixture of good and bad dogs.
