Good movie. I have the original release. Back in the day where Elmo only played a minor part.

Awww, I love Follow That Bird! Used to watch it over and over when I was a kid (I still remember the Big Bird/WB animation that they played before the film, where he pumps a balloon that turns into the WB logo). I always loved the scene at Bad Eats/Don't Drop Inn, when a food fight erupts and Maria tries to stop it while Oscar eggs everyone on.

I was going to buy it used for $7.99 plus tax at CVS soon but hearing this I think I will wait for the new release...
Like Jay Leno Said:
Who would ever imagine when Sesame Street was created that it would still be in business in 2008 but Wall Street would be the one to get Canceled

So is the older DVD release edited? Or it's just saying that the new release isn't edited, either?
I've always loved this movie, and I just bought the older version on DVD...if only I waited a few months...
Oh, and this movie makes me cry more than any other. More than Titanic and Pearl Harbor. I just can't help it.

GUHHHHHHHHH WHY DID I JUST BUY THIS MOVIE WHY WHY WHY
I think I'll be double-dipping. It'll just be nice for the widescreen ratio, frankly. And bonus features are always a nice incentive...
I like the old cover art better. Note how prominently displayed Elmo is here. Blurg.

Elmo shouldn't even be on the cover at all, his only scene (if it counts as a scene) is towards the end when there's a brief shot of him and a few other monsters looking out their windows upon hearing that Big Bird is back.SpringHeelJack wrote:I like the old cover art better. I know! That's my beef with it. That Elmo has the entire street under his fuzzy tyrannical thumb. I feel bad for Grover, who got ousted from his job as cute young Muppet once Elmo showed up in full force.
Jeez, I've got such a case of Red Terror.

I thought I would just post this here....rather than creating a new thread..

Can you tell me more? They edited out Kermit's scenes in the current DVD? What happens in those scenes? I might have the video (taped from TV) here somewhere, unless it's at my parent's house, but it'd be easier if you could just tell me here! Thanks!Mickeyfan1990 wrote:I'm guessing what they mean is that the Kermit scenes are intact.

I already have this movie (bought it at the bargain price of $5.50 at Target), but I would consider a double dip (After all, I do have two copies of Pixar's Toy Story and Toy Story 2, three if you count the VHS)....if they had special features like maybe an interview with the man behind Big Bird -- Carroll Spinney.
And if its released to Blu Ray.......
Cause I LOVE this movie and I even had/have a paperback book covering this movie.

Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

I've yet to buy the original DVD, so this news is pretty great for me.
However, with this kind of promise of a new edition, they had better not be huffing and puffing like they did with Poltergeist and Beetlejuice. This'd better be the real deal. I mean, I know it's hard to get the cast members and stuff to come in to do interviews (apparently, nobody really likes Warner Bros. that much - and with their recent refusal to grant Creepshow a better edition though it just got a spiffing new Region 2 edition, I'm not surprised). But they can do a lot better than they've done lately.

I'm watching the movie on Netflix right now and I don't think you're going to believe what I just discovered!!
If you go on Netflix Watch Instantly like I do, fast-forward to 48:20. It's the scene right after they sing "Easy Going Day" and Big Bird is walking down the road with the pear-picking kids. Miss Finch has just spotted him in her van and honked her horn. Big Bird decides to run off into the hay field to hide and has to say goodbye to the two kids. They hug really quickly because Finch is almost there. Then, right after he's off the screen, the kids turn to face Finch's van. The little girl stays right there. The little boy, however, picks a pear out of his basket and holds it up to throw at someone!

I'll bet you don't remember that. I'll bet you it wasn't in the script either. The really weird part about that is that the boy isn't holding it in any of the later shots of him. It's more than just a goof because it's not in technical continuity, it's also a bit of character continuity. Is there a person out there who would believe that Sesame Street would have kids throwing things like that at someone's car?
