Okay, it bugs me to death that the film is a box office hit and that it now has a built in audience and yet they STILL put Johnny Depp in the center and Alice off to the side. That is disrespectful to the actress playing Alice, and the film itself.Prince Edward wrote:Updated with new and big pictures of the Blu-ray covers for Alice in Wonderland...

I just can't believe this movie is already the 18th highest grossing movie of all time (without taking inflation into account, of course), it's even surpassed other Disney blockbusters Finding Nemo and The Lion King. Something tells me we'll see quite a few more Burton-Disney collaborations after Frankenweenie. Frankly both sides would be stupid not to...

This thing is a monster - movies beaten out this week are Harry Potter IV, Shrek 2, Jurassic Park, Spidey 3 and Ice Age 3. So, 12th place already, and still going pretty strong in certain Asian and European markets.
I know IMAX and 3D prices really boost the actual numbers, and of course the inflation. But still... wow!

Ya, $920 million is nothing to spit at for sure!Duckburger wrote:I know IMAX and 3D prices really boost the actual numbers, and of course the inflation. But still... wow!

For all the bashing the movie got, like Pirates 2 and 3, it must have found some kind of audience.

And the crazyness continues, as of now its the 9th highest grossing film ever worldwide. So, yeah... Number 9, its actually gone up another 3 places beating out Star Wars Ep. 1, Harry Potter VI and Lord of the Rings: Two Towers. Disney made a wrong decision in releasing this on dvd/blu-ray so close to the theatrical window.
I'm also wondering if Alice will reach the 1 billion mark. Sure seems like it at this point. There's not really any 'family' film coming out in the next few weeks. Seeing how Prince of Persia is 12+, parents will need to have something to bring their pre-12 kids to.

Yeah it does, completely forgot.
In that case Alice is probably gone next week, or at least when Shrek 4 is out. But its surely going to make more than the last two Harry Potters and Pirates 3. I think its going to end up at like 6th place. Not that it really matters though, but its pretty rare that a non-sequel film makes it so far in the top-grossing list (sans James Cameron of course).

Well... its definitely not gone yet. Alice grossed another 25-30 million up to this weekend (so excluding saturday/sunday), beating out Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, for the eight place. It's total gross is now 960 million, the 'exact' (pretty much, like 500k difference in between the two) same amount as Pirates of the Caribbean 3, so its surely going to beat that one too, as well as the first Harry Potter.
At least the one billion mark is guaranteed. It might even beat The Dark Knight if it continues to do so well.

In celebration of Alice In Wonderland’s Blu-ray and DVD debut on June 1, 2010, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, in partnership with Disney Consumer Products, are unveiling a first-of-its-kind Alice In Wonderland Exhibition in the FIDM Museum & Galleries at FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in downtown Los Angeles. The exhibition is free to the public and opens on May 27 and will run through September 30, 2010.
Fans of the film and fashion alike will find a new appreciation for the craftsmanship, artistry, and design behind the making of the costumes and merchandise at this particular exhibit that is comprised of three distinct parts: (1) Original costumes from the film designed by two time Academy Award winning costume designer Colleen Atwood (Best Achievement in Costume Design for Memoirs of a Geisha in 2005 and Best Costume Design for Chicago in 2002), (2) The Edgier Side of Alice inspired clothing and products from DCP and designed by a variety of celebrities, designers and fashion icons (e.g. Sue Wong, Tom Binns, Avril Lavigne, etc.), and (3) Alice inspired gowns created by FIDM designer graduates with FIDM Fashion Mentor and Instructor Nick Verreos.
