Disney Parks: The Secrets, Stories and Magic Blu-Ray???

Post by merlinjones »

What is this little surprise? The Disneyland documentary used on the Walt Disney Treasures set, now retitled as Disney Parks? According to Blu-Ray.com, it's coming in June. What else could be on this 2-Disc set?:

Ooooooh that's exciting. I have no idea whatsoever as to what it is, but it's safe to say I'll be buying this.

From that, we can gather...

It is not a Disney release.
It isn't the <i>Secrets, Stories & Magic</i> documentary.
It has 2 discs because one's a Blu-ray and the other's a DVD.

Questar's site has more information here:
http://www.questar1.com/shopexd.asp?id=1070

To me, it sounds like a vacation planning video that you'd pay for. Someone familiar with Questar's products can prove me wrong.

I would hope so, but if is, it's a non-Disney release, and the programs sort of sound like things from the Travel Channel-

Here, on amazon- <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html? ... uctions</a>

Somebody should test this release out.

Umbrella Fish is right; these are the specials that air from time to time on the Travel Channel. I have these recorded on a DVD-RW, so I recognized the titles immediately. Every couple of years, the specials get updated slightly, so I'm wondering if this release will contain new material. Either way, I'll be getting this. I caught "Undiscovered Disney Parks" in HD once, and the footage was glorious. I have no doubt this BD will look the same.

My only concern is that the DVD boxed set seems to have more specials than the BD. The BD only has Disneyland: Behind the Scenes, Ultimate Walt Disney World, and Undiscovered Disney Parks. The boxed set adds Walt Disney World: Behind the Scenes, Disney's Animal Kingdom, and Disney Cruise Line. All six specials should be able to fit on a single BD since they're only about 50 minutes a piece. They should also release the Samantha Brown specials on the resorts and Christmas while they're at it.

I believe you are referring to the talented, funny and entertaining Samantha Brown.

Doh! Yes, of course (though Samantha Morton's excellent in her own way, too). Fixed, now. Thanks!

I love these type of specials.....I at least don't fore see me going to a Disney Park anytime soon due to im on a very very very limited income...I do good to buy 4 blu rays....I was only at Disney Land once...and they were free tickets for my family supplied by Roy E Disney himself and it was magical and I loved it and it was before they updated the POTC ride with Jack Sparrow.....I would have went on the Star Wars theme ride but I was still dizzy from Back to the Future at Universal....I went' to universal first but I wish I could have gone on the star wars ride....but I was too pooped to do it.....I did however make sure I went the Haunted Mansion and honestly it was an expirence I would have never had if not for Make A wish and Disney who paid for the arrangments and the whole thing to Meet Roy E Disney...so while i might not get to go back anytime soon these type of specials give me as close as a glimpse that I could get....and remembering....I remember I was chosen to attempt the sword in the stone challenge....and I did it..it only comes out half way merlin said with some joke but I remember my first royal decree was everything was Free and Merlin said wait wait wait everything is free in our minds and hearts and something about he forgot the role of the tepmorary king didn't last a day it last 10 minutes he looked at the time and said time's up but he gave me this certifcate type singed by Merlin and I still have to this day this wonderful medallian type of medal it looks like a trophy at the olympics and it has the sword in the stone onthe front and the disney land on the back...and it's a real metal and a true trophy type...not some plastic toy that was $20 at the gift shop....it's truly an experience I will never forget :D

This company wins for picking a title that could confuse people into thinking it was the Disneyland treasures set. That should sell some extra copies for them.

Most of the blurays that they produce are travel guides, they have guides on France, Italy, Germany...., so I'm guessing that's what it is.

StichKingdom.com has reported there are at least 3 versions of this going to retailers, with special "Premier Collection" versions going to Disney outlets.

1. A 6 Pack DVD set with 6 show: Walt Disney World: Behind the Scenes, Disneyland Resort: Behind the Scenes, Ultimate Walt Disney World, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney Cruise Line & Undiscovered Disney Parks

2. The Blu-Ray that was first talked about will be a BR/DVD/DC combo but only contain Disneyland Resort: Behind the Scenes, Ultimate Walt Disney World & Undiscovered Disney Parks

3. A single DVD version with Walt Disney World: Behind the Scenes & Disneyland Resort: Behind the Scenes

It only cost $27 and change for the DVD 6 pack on amazon.com but I am holding off to find out what the Premier Editions are. I suspect one of them will be all the shows on BR.

Yeah that's pretty old news actually. Plus its not distributed by WDSHE, so the material they're going to be able to use, without risking infringement, will be very little.

There's even a thread about it here from a few months ago: http://www.dvdizzy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26639

If they just start to not include standard DVDs with blu-ray or you could end up with 3 dvd and blu-ray of the same film.
Der Fuehrer's Face is the greatest Donald Duck cartoon ever made.

I must have the Blu-ray! Has anyone come across anything about the "Premiere Editions"?

Great review, Aaron. :thumb: :pink:

I'll probably pick up the DVD 6-pack next time I see it.

Great review. I've got the 6 pack (got it the day it came out), but I do want the blu-ray eventually (I'll want it more when I actually have an HDTV, though I already have a big blu-ray collection). Still, I wish someone would release some official DVDs of extinct park attractions and experiences.
