"Baby" by Justin Bieber ft. Ludacris- I have the radio on, and it just happens to be on. Justin Bieber makes me feel old. I've loved the teen idols from the mid-'90s onward, but he's the first teen idol since I was little that I haven't had an interest in. Hence my feeling old. I mean, I don't mind his singles as background music when they're on the radio, but...Idk. He does nothing for me.

Oh, I don't disagree that a huge lot of it is fueled by typical Pop Glama (glamour): Fabulous Life posing. But that's the biz, for ya. And she knows that because she was a behind-the-scenes songwriter for years and had more experience performing at rock gigs (she flaunts this on "Boys Boys Boys" and "Paparazzi", she also used to have black hair and sing at those venues) before Interscope decided to make her a headliner.Goliath wrote:I still don't get the love for Lady Gaga...
But while most people will view her in the same manner as all the other "Pop Diva's" while none of them can hold a candle to (I believe I've said this before) Goldfrapp or Roisin Murphy (and now I'm adding Canadian sex-rap shock-goddess Peaches to that list) - these are Divas(!), I view most of Gaga's product as just plain escapism. If you'd actually listen to her more closely, you'd get what I mean. She doesn't pretend that things are as simple and obvious as they look. In fact, she actually has more depth in her work than my other favorite new-millennium Escapist-Chic Queen (and someone with enough Pop cred to be able to register as a Queen), Gwen Stefani (why? Because she has more fun than the Britney's and Christina's, she's hipper, and she's highly conceptual). You have to at least be able to admire Lady Gaga for her pure-Work Ethic. She does not stop working - ever. She calls her album The Fame and sings about living expensive (Gwen did it first, "Luxurious"), money, parties, and excessive living. But she also says (and has said many times) that that isn't what makes her really happy. I'm inclined to believe her. That work ethic goes a long way in backing up her social efforts on behalf of gays and women.
This coming from the person who called soulful, deep-throated 70's disco-revisitionist Roisin Murphy's voice "too sweet." I'm sure you won't be surprised if I don't just take your word on this...Goliath wrote:She can't sing
That could mean all kinds of things. Since you don't see the appeal of her, how am I to know you've actually checked her out live- even on YouTube?Goliath wrote:she can't perform
Maybe it's just a gay thing.Goliath wrote:she's basically just a phony and a poser, with her so-called "different images", she's completely hysterical and over-the-top...
What's there to like?

You said it, Laz! As a devoted "Little Monster," it's nice to see some love for the GaGa!

I compliment you with your excellent taste! That's one of his best songs... And he already is the best ever singer-songwriter!JohnnyWeir wrote:Desolation Row by Bob Dylan
Just listened to his 'Make you feel my love'. It's been covered a 100 times by other artists, but his original song is the only one that really gets to me. The words sound hollow when it's sung by someone else. His raw, raspy voice give the text meaning; makes it sound like somebody who knows what he's talking about. Only a person who has lived that long and knows what's out there, can give credibility to a song like 'Make you feel my love'.
