When was anyone asking Disney not the use a chameleon? I was certainly annoyed by how they caved in with all the changes for Princess and the Frog. I totally agree that a movie studio should make a good story, and screw these groups who tell them what they feel makes a good story.

I think are taking our intention wrongly. We simply voiced our opinions that some audience members who are simply ignorant, by no fault but their own, and will purchase real chameleons because their kids asked them to. Heck, even adults who don't have kids will do this.

PETA is the only group I can think of that openly attacked Disney for their frequent use of Dalmatians. Where as other, more sensible, organizations, like AKC and the HSUS simply suggested to Disney to use the movies and material to help curb the inevitable. Not blaming Disney, but in hopes some people might actually listen. This is why Eight Below had the insert by AKC about Siberian Huskies and 102 Dalmatians had the special feature where the parrot talked about how pets aren't for everybody and you should always research a pet before purchasing and adopting. Disney, and some other movie companies, have taken steps, that they really didn't NEED to take, to help curb the pet overpopulation, puppy mill, exotic animal trade problems. They have NO obligation to do so. If we blamed the studios for it, then we'd have to blame them every time someone tried to replicate a stunt they saw on a movie. Which sadly, some people try to do just that, but its not sensible.

Disney had added disclaimers to their movies. Beverly Hills Chihuahua has a disclaimer about purchasing dogs. And why not? This isn't about political correctness. Its not about not offending someone. Its about saving lives. A "hey, I know this movie is full of adorable dogs, but be sure to do your research before you purchase one". Disney has no obligation to do it, but the fact they did it, I give total props to them. I made me glad to see the movie.

Movie studios aren't making money from the pet trade. They have no desire to make movies to market the breeds and species they show off. They instead put marketing in clothes, toys, games, etc. Disney doesn't want people to buy a real dalmatian or chameleon. They want people to buy their licensed products. This is how the HSUS and other groups convinced Disney to take an active role in getting material to the public about NOT purchasing the animals they feature on their films. If Pascal is a hit, and he is adorable and I bet he will be, I expect we will see a lot of Pascal toys. That's where the money is.

Agreed, this is probably all because of the fact that Disney isn't giving us anything to discuss. No pictures, no press releases, trailers, synopsis, nothing. So we dissect and overanalyse each tiny little aspect of info we can find :) If only they started releasing info, pictures and trailers already, then we'd hopefully have some joyfull and happy discussions :)

Exactly.

Though if you don't like the discussion, no one is making you be part of it. Just wait till it interests you and then join in. But to silence others just because you don't like the fact we are talking about how pretty the movie is or a plot point doesn't mean our conversation holds any less weight about the movie.

Shall we go back into talking about foot fetishes? Because frankly, I prefer the chameleon talk over that ridiculous drivel. Least the chameleon talk has something to actually do with the movie.

They're so pretty, though! Why NOT talk about them? And as Siren said, there really isn't anything else to talk about yet! Such a unique and lovely animal sidekick deserves to spark an almost completely irrelevant conversation! :D

Instead of complaining about what is being discussed, why not take an active role in discussing what you want to.

This thread is strange, but highly amusing. Gotta love UD!

And yes, chameleons are pretty neat. I thought that was common knowledge (as in knowledge that should be common)?

Alright alright I wasn't like for serious being angry that you're talking about chameleons. I only said that because I keep thinking that there's new stuff in this thread. I was just jokingly expressing frustration. I understand WHY it's being talked to death. We can blame Disney for that. And yes, I would much rather talk about chameleons than foot fetishes.

And Super Aurora... you could not possibly have picked a better picture for your post hahahaha

Please continue with the chameleon talk until something better comes along.

Is Disney going to make Pascal useful like Ray from Disney's, "The Princess and the Frog," or just a pet who does almost anything but nothing like Louis from Disney's, "The Princess and the Frog?" Just curious.

Hey, Louis DID do quite a few useful things in TPatF. He did try to get Tiana and Naveen to Mama Odie's- despite going the wrong direction- and helped them and Ray to get on a riverboat heading for New Orleans. But anyways, please don't go dissing on Louis. :(

You forgot to mention helping Tiana and Naveen buy out the building needed for her restaurant, in the scene where he makes sure that the building owners give Tiana respect.

How should we know? We all hope to know more about this project but we don't. Just have to wait.
I think that Pascal is another those characters that simply exist to be someone the hero can talk to. Hope that Pascal would be much more than that.

Why do you think everything I say is meant negatively? Of course I only join in on conversation and discussion when something interests me, which is why I ignored the foot fetish conversation and did voice my opinion on the chameleon thing.

You can also stop putting words in my mouth, because in no way was I trying to silence anyone. I was just giving you my two cents concerning the ongoing discussion. No harm in that I think.

My last response was merely made to illustrate the point that, as you point out, we get the tendency to go sliiiiightly off-topic because of the lack of actual updates about the movie from Disney itself. I'm all for discussing every aspect of the movie, don't get me wrong, but I'm anxiously waiting the moment we can start discussing the plot, the characters designs, the artwork, the animation etc.

So by all means, don't mind me and please don't take offense because the last thing I want to do is ruffle anyone's feathers with my opinion. Even though you seem to think that's exactly why I'm here based on your replies to my posts...

I think one of the big themes in the movie is going to be transformation. We know from those character synopsis documents that leaked a few months ago that Gothel uses the magic in Rapunzel's hair to remain young and keep her youthfull looks. When she loses Rapunzel her looks and mind start to fade. Then there is Rapunzel who is naieve and unaware about the world outside the tower and has to transform herself into a sophisticated and worldy young woman and eventually a princess and we have Flynn who starts out as a common thief and bandit but has to learn how to become a loyal, trustworthy gentleman.

Pascal is at the very least a metaphor for all the changes that go on during the movie and I'm sure he gets to have some very interesting plot points of his own :)

I wonder if they make him pantomime and voiceless or if he can talk. I'd prefer it if he didn't talk...

I guess I can say yes.He is actually an informer for Rapunzel, but he has no dialog.I really don't mind a mute informer. It's less annoying than an informer who can talk.
