That depends on what's more important to you: bonus features or the right/correct version of the film. The 2002 dvd contained a version with the colors being much too bright. It also had a newly animated song inserted into the film. We don't know yet what the new dvd will bring...

Hahaha brainwashing the innocents into joining the colors craze. I like it

And wasn't there both the theatrical version and the special edition version with "Human Again" on the PE? As long as they do that again, then why have an issue with the additional song? I mean, as long as you have the option...

No. It jettisoned many of the original bonus features.

Or you can just wait till Nov 23 for them to release the DVD set of the Diamond Edition. Well...it won't be called a Diamond Edition, just a 2-Disc set (just like Snow White) but it's supposed to have most of the combo pack features carried over for the standard DVD. But the picture quality is expected to be much higher than the PE since they're doing a Blu Ray.

I'm curious to see what features will be out and what features will be in. I thought the ones on the PE set were alright but nothing great or spectacular.

That so called "theatrical version" still looked like the 2nd clip in this video in terms of overall look, color and cheapness. Is basically looked like a sequel.

After seeing the recent announcement claiming the movie's "restored", I doubt we'll be seeing the actual original colors on this disc. I mean, with the space we might, but it probably wont happen.

Wasn't the Snow White DE the restored color version or was that the claim they gave to the PE?

blu-ray.com wrote:Disney specifies that the release will feature "state-of-the-art picture restoration," 7.1 audio and "hours of additional viewing experiences," including behind the scenes features, deleted scenes, enhanced music tracks, immersive games and more.
That proof enough for you?

EDIT: Also, look at how many comments express concern about the colors. Disney will keep the altered ones.

I would assume Disney would make the colors match those of the 2011 3-D release... Personally, I like the 2002 colors. The only place I don't like them are in the Beauty and the Beast dance scene. There, they are a bit too warm.

Yeah, they're fine for the most part. I just want the actual original colors.

The colors bother me as well but not to the point where I have to complain vocally about my displeasure with it.

Looking at the pre-order site on the Disney store it does seem there will be any sort of collectors edition like there was with snow white? Is it still to early to lose hope or has the deal been sealed?

speaking of colours...

the Fantasia Diamond Edition is not being released unti the last week of November (Holiday season).

Why?
So it can coincide with the DVD/Bluray release of Sorcerers Apprentice, and the Epic Mickey game, which are available then.

I harp on about it more in the Fantasia topic, but still, getting bumped by
BATB is one thing, now I know it's been bumped so a crap live-action DVD release can delay it...well, I'm inconvenienced.

The Beauty and the Beast webbie has been updated, now boasting cover art for the DVD-Combo pack and the standard DVD alone. Basically the same as the blu-ray, the only change being the border.

Also, there is a list of bonus features under the DVD part, which include:

-3 Enchanting Versions Of The Film
-Celine Dion And Peabo Bryson Music Video
-Never-Before-Released Behind-The-Scenes Footage
-Filled With All-New Exciting Games
-First-Ever Digital Presentation Using High-Definition Transfer Technology

So, I guess that's proof all three versions from the 2002 release will be included on the 2010 release.

The bluray is going on my christmas list. I hope there's

A new documentary
an audio commentary
trailers
and more poster stills

and what both of the 2011 diamonds are.

I predict blank and the lion king on Blu-Ray
