Toy Story 1 & 2 on Blu-Ray OUT NOW!!!

Has anyone listened to the commentaries yet? They're pretty informative and pretty funny.

And I never realized how dark and disturbing these Toy Story films really were until I watched them again after a very long time.

I think its all about context. I think the new one is very impresive, but more suited to movies that feel really big. usually live action stuff.

For animated movies, and the toy stories in particular, I prefer a simplier castle. for hand drawn animation I want the 2D castle of the 90s. for the toy stories, the simple white one was great because it looks like a miniature toy like castle. it fits the tone of the movies.

But the main thing I hate is when it screws up the flow as it does in the first Toy Story. I dont mind it as much with the second one, because the movie starts off fading in from black anyway.

I listened to the commentaries...a decade ago when they were first released.

I've listened to the Toy Story 2 commentary and I really enjoyed listening to it, even if most of the time was spent saying "such-and-such animator did such a great job here" and what-not. But, it's not like Lasseter and crew are lying.

I had no idea Joan Cusack was such a major influence on the writing of Jesse, though.

Picked up both Toy Story combo packs at Target today. I used the $10 'upgrade' exclusive DMR coupons, which put them down at $7.99 apiece with the additional $10 off deal (minus tax). I tried using the $5 ones alongside them, but they didn't scan (or their UPC system was programmed to reject more than one coupon for each item). I'm not complaining, since they're new releases and anything around $10 or less for them is unheard of.

Plus, the two Toy Story 3 movie tickets make the deal ever better.

Same here. They should've kept the castle, even if the Pixar logo was changed (for 3D screenings, they have a new one).

Anyway, for Toy Story, I didn't notice as much of the re-rendering as for Toy Story 2. It could've been my tv vs my pc, but the blu-ray has a lot more colors than the previous dvd. Good ones too. not just brightening up the image like a certain nameless movie that we've been talking about.

Yesterday I bought "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" at Toys R Us. I got lucky because I got the last "Toy Story" in a Blu-ray case. There were about 8 "Toy Story 2" in a Blu-ray case. Toys R Us had more DVD case instead of Blu-ray case. But anyway I used my 2 $10.00 off coupons and only paid $16.61. I enjoy watching the "Toy Story 3" sneak peeks. Toys R Us has some great deals yesterday they were having "Buy 1 Movie, Get the 2nd one Free" no wonder it was full in the movies section.

toys R Us doesn't always make it easy. The Blu-ray of Ponyo was stuffed behind a few DVD editions of that movie and I had to ask the guy to find it for me. What's ironic is I'm the one that spotted it from the side.

Oh i've done that a few times....knew more about what they had at either wal-mart or best buy or found somthing they said the didn't carry and I find it in the store and show the....and they are all looking at me like this

and asking WHere was that???

Maybe I am too smart to get services for CCAR or some job coach help through the state.....

I have yet to see the second film but Sid from the original Toy Story was a lot more creepier than I had remember. He's not exactly a cute kid either and I like the huge contrast between him and Andy.

I've just realized that I could spend every second of my spare time watching commentaries and dvd bonus features, and I would never get to them all..... sigh.

At least I have a maternity leave coming up - I could make it one of my priorities while I'm at home. It's too bad here in the US we only get six weeks (though I'm taking eight!).

Yeah, I find it funny in the commentary and the round-table, how they comment on Andrew Stanton and Joe Ranft being more like Sid in how they were creative with their toys and constantly blowing up their GI Joes, while John Lasseter was more like Andy as he took care of his toys.

I finally got a chance to watch my copy of TS2, and my thoughts are in the What Movie did You just Watch? thread: http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... &start=380

But I did notice (and I checked the reviews) while I was watching a few quick bonus features, that there are no shorts. Even my VHS of Toy Story 2 had a Luxo Jr. short attached.

They probably want us to buy the shorts collection blu ray. you'll still get new shorts with new movies, but I think they have phased it out older releases.

Everything that was new to the Blu-Ray is included on the new DVD (which is the same disc as the one in the Blu-Ray + DVD Combo), along with the film commentaries. The only things missing on these new 2010 DVDs are the special features from 2000's Ultimate Toy Box and 2005's two-disc sets.
