I believe it means the DVDs are at 1.85:1.

Anyway, Ratios dont have to be "invented" as movies with digital source files usually have an easily adjustable AR.
Nemo and Up are 1:78:1 on DVD...

That may be the way they were animated/computer generated, though that's doubtful as that ratio from what I understand wasn't invented till widescreen tvs came about. Just like alot of the animated classics were animated academy ratio, but matted for a particular ratio for their theatrical release. However the theatrical ratio for Toy Story was 1.85:1.
You're forgetting that the 1.78:1 ratio was made the HD standard in the early nineties, so the ratio was already around at the time both Toy Stories were made. Theatrical ratio is different in this case, simply because there's a standard in theatrical projection. Every CAPS movie was shown at 1.85:1 in theaters as well. Anyway, even though you can tell the difference at home (when overscan is turned off) I doubt that you could see the difference between them in a movie theater. In that case it's the same as the difference between 2.35:1 and 2.4:1. Both are slightly different, but hardly worthy of complaints if a movie is released in one ratio or the other.

Slightly off-topic but what two BD should I get out of this list? The bolded I already have on DVD, I obviously want all of them but only have enough for 2 (well 3 but no point in buying 3 because then I won't get the offer) in my bank account right now:

Toy Story
Toy Story 2
Snow White
Dumbo

Pinocchio
Dinosaur
Cars
Monsters Inc.

Grr . . . went back to the Toys Я Us I bought PATF at this morning and was told the shipment for the Toy Story Blu-rays have not yet come in. So we went back to the one that wouldn't take the coupons before, but they only had part one in stock. They said they were expecting part two to arrive later in the day, so I guess we'll check back later. Strange they didn't arrive together, and even more strange they're over a day late.

Enigma, do you have any electronics store nearby? Best Buy never runs out of stock on movies! :D

I watched Toy Story last night. When it comes to the story, it sorta became stale. 50th time's the charm, I guess.

The PQ was astounding, as usual. While some textures looked low-res, many-like wood and the Milk box were very nice. The sound was amazing, as well. This is what lossless is about-it wasn't as strained as the old Dolby track on my old system.

The Buzz Blasting Off short was very cute! :D I enjoyed the Studio Stories, and the Sneak Peak-which had some new footage.

Tonight: Toy Story 2!

I would buy Pinocchio because it's a classic and the PQ ist just astounding (Not in a way the Pixars are, but you see all the little details. It's just charming) and either Cars or Monsters Inc. depending on which you prefer. Monsters Inc. has the better features though. Just avoid dinosaur since the PQ is substandard and I guess they will rerelease it soon.
The four you have already on DVD are all worth getting an upgrade but in your stead I would purchase the others first (except for Dinosaur of course).

I'd totally go for that but I already reserved them with the giraffe guys to cash in on one of the money-saving offers (saved an extra $10 with them for that). ;) Lucky for me I'm patient.

I'll be out again later tonight so I'll check back then. Still seems weird that they're coming in so late though. :?

Thanks, I always seem to have an inability to make a decision! Anyway on the topic of Dinosaur, really? I've heard some people say that the PQ is stunning

Dinosayur apparently is substandard in the PQ department. Anyway, it lacks all the bonus features of the 2-disc dvd, if you want extras. Any of the other movies have great PQ, AQ and bonus features. If both Toy Story movies can be bought with coupons, etc. I would go for those. Disney movies rarely get really low in price after they've been released for a while.

Does anyone where I can get a slipcover for free, or really cheap? I got both movies at Target yesterday, but they only had Toy Story 2 in DVD packaging, and knowing my Target's track record of stocking Disney DVD's (to bring everyone up to speed - they suck), I just went ahead and bought them. Now, I've printed out the artwork for part two so it matches part one's Blu-ray packaging, but the lack of DVD condom is bothering me. I know this is all quite foolish, but I am a total shelf whore, especially with serials. If I have one with a slipcover and one without, I'll go nuts. :P

If anyone has any info, I'd greatly appreciate it. :)

Im seeing a trend here, a lot of people are saying they are out of the blu packaging for TS2. Its always TS2. Is TS2 more popular amongst HD lovers, or are they stocking less of those than Toy Story for some reason?

To my knowledge, amazon doesn't accept coupons. But if you buy both movies together they offer a $10 off deal.
Walmart: the perfect place to shop for a headache at a discount price.

No. They did do a couple promotions for other movies with codes, but not this time.

I might be able to help you out here, if the slip covers don't fit in the security cases, we usually toss them in the trash!!!! I know! It kills me every time we do it! But anyway, i might be able to snag you one. Do you have an ebay account, how's $0.99 sound?

I think the key word there was "guess". not sure what he's basing that on, but I wouldn't put it past them, as it was one of the very first blu rays to release.

Is there any deal on the Toy 1 & 2 Blu-Ray set?

I went on amazon and it would cost like 45-50 if I were to buy it.

They usually have deal for disney movies like...

9.99 Snow White BD

Up + Cars + Monster's INC for like $35 BD

I mean, they have had some pretty good deals in the past and I bought these all on amazon.
