Yeah, I don't think we should start thinking Disney have somehow cancelled these. I'm quite sure we will see copies...(at least some of us will).

Retailers do wacky things all the time, and we always knew these were going to be limited. Just because there is a bigger buzz around this release, doesn't mean everybody who wants one will have one.

I'm guessing 2099net is right on this one - Amazon have a certain amount they know is coming, and they have sold out based on preorders.

I hardly think Disney have cancelled them at this late stage.

I'm not saying Disney cancelled the release - which I'm 99,99% sure they didn't - but I'm afraid they took it out from the calendar because the DVD has sold out.
I'm going to be REALLY upset if I don't get it!

Would you guys expect major retailers to carry stock on the 18th?

They're listed as being available on release date at MetroVideo.ca but I'm concerned that most sets have been spoken for through online distributors...

I don't think its a question of sets being spoken for from on-line retailers. After all, the video stores will still have placed an order for as many as they thought that they would be able to sell.

There may be in issue where all the various retailer orders are above the print run. In this case I would expect Disney to supply all of the retailers who placed an order - but each retailer will only recieve a percentage of their total order as the stock will be allocated. Its something that happens a lot with collectibles in Comic shops.

If this is the case, all retailers should have copies on the day of release, but they may not be on the shelves for long.

It's back on at Amazon

Post by deadstone »

...now Amazon have changed it, and it's back on for preorders.

Plus I am sure that all the major online retailers like Amazon will be able fulfill all preorders...

I reckon this because they are still taking preorders...if they had any doubts about the numbers they would stop taking pre-orders...

But I do think that they will all sell out fast, simply because of the interest...

I wonder how many people have ordered 5, or even 10 of each to turn a big profit in a year or two on Ebay or Amazon MarketPlace when they're all serious rarities?

If you are concerned about your Amazon preorders you can either send an email asking for re-assurance, or, even better, it's possible to chat online with a Customer Care specialist at Amazon.Com.

I did this, and got confirmation that there is no problem with supplies as far as they are concerned.

Happy shopping everyone!

Since this is limited they can not be sure of anything.

Say that all the big stores order more then what Disney has availeble, then they will not recive what they order. Pure logic there.

The only way that Amazon can ensure to get what they order is if they have a special deal with Disney. But I doubt that.

That's why when they have limited runs of collectible dvds such as these sets, the online retailers should stop customers from buying 5 or 10 copies of these things. What are you going to do with 10 copies?
Common sense would dictate these customers are trying to resell them at a higher price! If they did that Im sure it would at least stop these sets from selling out so fast, so that the people who really want them will get them. Although some clever people will try to log in as different people to scoop them up anyway. As for the last post, I trust Amazon, if they say they have preorders still open it is still open and they have copies still available. Amazon is one of the if not the biggest online retailers, they know the type of backlash they'll get if they dont put on their site sold out or whatever if they dont have enough copies. I ordered 3 of the 4 sets last Sept, and they better give me my stuff! I emailed them and they told me they will fill it. 8)

Hi Guys

As an aussie we miss out on getting alot of the great Special editions that many of you do in our local stores and so I rely on Amazon for ordering stuff like this.

Now I was going to wait until it was released and just order when ready but I kinda got freaked out by some of the earlier threads so I just pre ordered....the credit card is maxed but I owe somebody here a big thank you cause they reminded me the Amazon don't charge till it's shipped out and I'be be back in the black prior to them being released.

Anyone have calmed down now.....thought I wasgoing to miss out there for a minute

I have all but the Davy Crocket set in this series and am really looking forward to the Front lines and the Tomorrow Land DVD's.

SO thanks to you all for prompting me to Pre Order. Here's hoping my copies arrive soon :)

DVD Empire sent me the following...

Post by BlueDevilSF »

I got two emails from DVDEmpire.com regarding my pre-order for all four tins:

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The following email is in regards to Tomorrow Land: Walt Disney Treasures Limited Edition Tin on order #xxxxxxx

Dear Customer

Walt Disney has cancelled the 5/18 release of "The Walt Disney
Treasure: Tomorrow Land." No reason was given. The title will be
cancelled off your order. Please note that the other three titles in the
series will still street on 5/18 as planned, barring no further changes.

Our apologies

DVD Empire

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

We have just been informed by our distributors that the title 'Tomorrow Land: Walt Disney Treasures Limited Edition Tin ' is no longer available.

It has been removed from your order. The remainder of your order will be processed normally. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

WHAT... CANCELLED?!?

Do you think this is simply the result of Disney not accounting for the heavy call on internet distributor stock orders for which DigitalEyes caught the short end on, or could this be a general cancellation of the title from this wave of Treasures?

I am positive that a reviewer from HTF already recieved this title for IGN so I'm assuming it can't be cancelled altogther... right?

I expect to see all 4 issues shelved in retail on the 18th or I will be f***ing pissed!!! I don't want to hear about any further delays or cancellations... I've been waiting over an entire year for these to finally be released and I am looking forward to owning every single one!

BlueDevil, could you confirm details on this with DigitalEyes regarding the Tomorrowland set?

It was DVDEmpire.com I ordered from; not DigitalEyes.net.

I'm speculating (read: I'm making a guess, not to be taken as fact) that demand was so high that BVHE had to allocate orders and, therefore, some e-tailers might have been left out in the cold.

I wouldn't necessarily take the fact that just because review copies have been sent out BVHE wouldn't cancel something. After all, look what happened with the Ed Wood DVD.

If I hear anything more, I will, of course, post it here.

My question is, why would they remove it from the release calendar (on the main Disney DVD page)? They've still got it listed everywhere else that it will be available 5/18?

I also imagine they’d be more expensive at online retailers.

Probably $25 each in Best Buy and $32 each in other stores.

By the way is deepdiscountdvd carrying them?

About "Tomorrowland" being cancelled, this is what Jerry Beck wrote over his forum:
I asked Leonard Maltin about it - I told him about the rumor, and his response: " I don't know where these things get started - I have my copy in hand, I'm already doing publicity for all 4 releases. That's all I know."
