It really annoys me how Disney has gone about this dvd. I got it yesterday and its so stupid they didnt put out a standard 2disc dvd version. Even the Blu-ray was standard! And now they have 2disc BluRays instead? I just went with the standard dvd version and then they gave it a cheap disc (I really hate it when they just put the name engraved in a dvd instead of a picture on it)

There's too many P&TF threads right now... :lol but my post fits best under here.

I HAD THE HARDEST TIME FIND THE DAMN COMBO PACK!!!!!!!

Target #1: Sold out
Target #2: Sold out (of ALL P&TF DVD versions also)
Target #3: Sold out
Walmart: Sold out
Best Buy: I was there earlier in the day and only saw one copy left, but I forgot my coupon.... Went back, sold out.
(FYE: Check there because I was near by, they had it but it was a higher price and they also had a rebate. Twice I've done those from there and never received them.... so forget that.)

FINALLY..... I found it at Toys R Us, as a last resort. I only figured I'd stop by since it's on my way home. I hadn't thought of that place and neither had anyone else, they had tons of copies! :lol

Still waiting over here.

The town it's shipping from is 3 hours away. This is almost unacceptable.

While this may seem like the weirdest suggestion ever I say rent both first before investing in a copy.

The reason I say this is because while both movies are great, they are different. Up is a dramedy with a lot of fantasy elements, while Princess and the Frog is a classic fairy tale film. You may like one more than the other, and since you haven't seen each film its best to rent.

No hard time finding the Combo.

And Atlantis, while I miss the REAL 2-disc DVDs, the multi-disc set for this is just the single-disc BD with a DVD and Digital Copy. I doubt that the bonuses are remaining exclusive only to the combo. The same movie thrice, with some bonuses replicated on the 2nd disc.

Simply, if you a fan of Disney's animated films, 2D that is, you know.... the classics. Just get it! If you're a fan of Pixar, which I'm not really, but I own most of their DVDs... you'll want Up for sure. (My brother bought Up so I'm good with that too )

You should've hid it behind some notebooks or something. I always do that when I know I'm coming back. :P

I was at Wal-Mart at midnight and I helped the lady go through the boxes. The Wal-Mart I went to only received 6 copies of the combo pack. It took us forever to find them.
Walmart: the perfect place to shop for a headache at a discount price.

Toon Talk: Princess and the Frog Blu-Ray / DVD
http://www.laughingplace.com/News-ID513120.asp
The Top 10 Things We Learn From The Audio Commentary:

1.The directors pitched the movie to Oprah Winfrey while she was at Disneyland; it was her idea to voice a character.

2.Composer Randy Newman tried several times to be a voice in the movie, including singing “Down in New Orleans” and taking a verse (as a turtle) in “When We’re Human”. He had to settle for making an appearance as a firefly at the start of “Gonna Take You There”.

3.Anika Noni Rose requested that Tiana be left-handed like herself.

4.Several Disney staff members are caricatured in the movie, including animator Eric Goldberg (as the “pooper scooper”), the late Joe Grant (as the octopus man) and the directors themselves (dressed as bead-throwing fish during the Mardi Gras sequence).

5.Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse voiced Marlon, one of the gators.

6.Louis was originally conceived as a human who was turned into an alligator by Dr. Facilier.

7.The Princess and the Frog features more costume changes for the main characters than any other Disney animated movie.

8.Lady and the Tramp and Bambi were the main Disney influences for the film.

9.The Mardi Gras floats seen were inspired by Clements and Musker’s earlier films The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules and Treasure Planet.

10.Louis’ band, the Firefly Five Plus Lou, is an homage to the Disney in-house Dixieland band from the 1950’s known as the Firehouse Five Plus Two
Does anyone know if The Princess and the Frog DVD/Blu-ray has sold well? Do we have any numbers yet?

To answer your question, I just checked the Amazon sales rankings (which are said to be updated hourly) for the 3 releases to see which was selling better.

The standalone DVD is currently ranked 6th in "Movies and TV."

The combo pack, which got most of the marketing and promotional hype, is currently ranked 11th.

The standalone BD is currently ranked 105th.
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag"- Mary Poppins
"How high does the sycamore grow? If you cut it down, then you'll never know"- Pocahontas
"I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether he be six or sixty. Call the child innocence." - Walt Disney

Picked up the combo pack on tuesday, watched the movie on Blu-ray after I got home from work on wednesday, very awesome and it looks GORGEOUS in Blu-ray (of course :P ).

I bought mine at Best Buy and it was around 7 pm. They didn't have any in the display that's right there when you walk in, but they had a bunch with the rest of the Blu-rays. I was hoping the store I work at would carry it (we've been getting some new release Blu-rays) but we only had the standard DVD and the standard Blu-ray, so off to the mall I had to go lol.

And of course I have my usual complaint... why oh why does Disney use that thick Blu-ray case?? It'd be easy to fit 3 or 4 discs in a thin Blu-ray case. Look at The Dark Knight. Just have a little flap in the middle that can hold two discs, then put a disc in a tray like usual, and for four disc sets you can put a disc on each side (like with A Bug's Life and Nightmare Before Christmas). But whatever
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

I think the thicker cases look more impressive.

If you ask me, they do look more impressive. They look even more impressive if they aren't the movie tripled.

6.Louis was originally conceived as a human who was turned into an alligator by Dr. Facilier.
Why wasn't this carried through? Bah. Although it does remind me of reading that early script of TLM and Ariel having had a friend who was a polyp of Ursula's, I think this would've helped the film. One, it would give Louis a bit more relevance. And, plus, the ending wouldn't have you wondering "can Louis still speak to Tiana?"

That wouldve been interesting to see too. But considering that Mama Odie didnt grant his request to become human I think it was intended for Louis to come to terms with the idea that he could pursue his dreams despite the fact that he is an alligator. The "be yourself" lesson that appeals to kids.

This wouldnt be the first time though. Did people ever wonder why it was that Cinderella could only communicate with the mice and never any of the other animals? I know Walt originally intended to have most of the animals in the film talk but it wasnt working so in the end only the mice talked but a clear explanation was never made for that.

I have no problems with the thicker cases for the multi disc movies. I think it holds the other discs better than the normal cases with tray (I've had a few loose discs in these cases, never with the thicker ones).

Went with the 1 disc blu this week. Really no reason to get the multi-pack considering I find digital copies pointless and would never watch the DVD.
