I will take those that I marked with x. I have explained my point above in bold also. And were I said that I will post more information later I will do so in new post later (I dont have time for that nowmerlinjones wrote:Here's a big list of potential Walt Disney Treasures material yet to be released on DVD:
I want this films for two reasons to bury the urban legend that this film is offensive, as Uncle Remus (James Baskett), nice bloke that is fun to have around and to be able to enjoy it the why Walt intended back in 1946.x1. Song of the South (plus The Joel Chandler Harris Story, Trailers, promos, TV spots, Soundtrack, outtakes, artwork, etc.)
predicted number of sets: 1
I personally think it would be interested to see those bridge sequence but re seeing the theatrical stuff the why it wasn't originally presentation is rather bland for me, rely. In addition I would like to scrape the I Idea of having the 1962 theatrical short as bonus and have instead nice little documentary on creation of Ludwig Von Drake. I have always liked to know more about the origin of this characterx2. Ludwig Von Drake (18 episodes of Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color)
predicted number of sets: 3-4
I personally think it would be interested to see those bridge sequence but re seeing the theatrical stuff the why it wasn't originally presentation is rather bland for me, rely.x3. Ranger Woodlore and Humphrey Bear (all shorts plus 4 hour WWoC shows)
Both scope cartoons on Rarites set was not wide enough so repeat them in there full 100% 2:55:1 format should be enough justification to include them. But the shorts that they appear with Donald should should come down to if there is eanough room to include them.
predicted number of sets: 1
The original MMC shorts and the educational shorts are the same, to my best understanding, But I also understand that there were updated version of those shorts if there two much difference in the original and the updated version it could be nice to have both version.x4. Jiminy Cricket (all educational shorts, MMC shorts, plus all 6 Jiminy hosted hour shows)
On the hosted shows I countinue to say:
I personally think it would be interested to see those bridge sequence but re seeing the theatrical stuff the why it wasn't originally presentation is rather bland for me, rely.
predicted number of sets: 2
I would merge the show with no 6. and the shorts with no 9. Unless we what to group them with Animated shows that don't fit elswerex5. Chip an' Dale (all shorts, plus Walt Disney Presents hour show)
predicted number of sets: 0-1
On the hosted shows I continue to say:x6. The Magic Mirror (all 6 TV hours hosted by Magic Mirror, including Walt's first two TV specials)
I personally think it would be interested to see those bridge sequence but re seeing the theatrical stuff the why it wasn't originally presentation is rather bland for me, rely.
predicted number of sets: 1
Not intrested.7. Disneyland Volume 3 (all remaining TV hours about the park including From the Pirates of the Caribbean to the World of Tomorrow and Disneyland Showtime!)
predicted number of sets: N/A
On the shows I continue to say:x8. Mickey, Donald and Goofy on TV (TV hours featuring all the standard characters in original animation bridges)
I personally think it would be interested to see those bridge sequence but re seeing the theatrical stuff the why it wasn't originally presentation is rather bland for me, rely.
predicted number of sets: 2-3
x9. Rarities 2 (with remaining animated shorts and featurettes like It's Tough to Be a Bird)
I will use this set to address few things.
A) Generally I would want them to fix the errors on other theatrical short set (Mickey (4), Donald (4), SillyS (2), Pluto (2), Goofy(2), Rarites (1)) that I pointed out earlier.
predicted number of sets: 15
B) The Walt is earliest work were the Laugh-O-Gram shorts and the Alice Comedies shorts I would sluggest one set that focus on those materieal call it Disney Rarites 1920s (vol 2) I will post more information of those shorts later.
predicted number of sets: 1
C) I would sluggest another Oswald set if the lost cartoons will ever be found, along with the original version of the cartoons that Walter Lanz reissued in 1931. I would call it Oswald the Lucky Rabbit vol 2. I will post more information of those shorts later.
predicted number of sets: 1
D) Of all post Steemboat WIllie shorts I think there is enough material to make one more set of those short:
What to include then the two 1965 Donalds, the two 1965 and 2007 Goofy, the 3 Chip 'n Dale, the 1 SCROOGE MCDUCK short, and every one-shot short commercially released to theaters from 1928 - present. I will post more information of those shorts later.
predicted number of sets: 1
E) Im however to to sure what they should to with Wartime training shorts or the none Jimminy Cricket educational shorts as I don't know how many of them were actually animated. The same can also be said about the remaining commercials (do we want to include the TV commericals as well or only the theatrical one). I will only post information of those that Im 100% sure that are animated.
predicted number of sets: 1-? (I'm not sure hwo many set of those need to be made it they are going to put every single short of those out.)
F) The animated them Park shorts, that have been retired could fit well with all those live-action Disneyland sets.
predicted number of sets: 1 (if there enough shorts to make 1 set: other wise include them as bonus on the Disneyland sets)
10. The Swamp Fox (all 8 episodes)
11. The Prince and the Pauper (all 3 Wonderful World of Color episodes plus the theatrical version)
12. Disneyland: Films From Park Attractions (America the Beautiful, Mouseketeer 3-D Jamboree, Story of Oil etc)
13. Annette 2 (Horsemasters, Escapade in Florence, music sequences)
14. Kurt Russell (TV movies and featurettes like Willie and the Yank, Secret of Boyne Castle, Disneyland Showtime and Dad, Can I Borrow the Car?)
Not intrested. but can some one tell me what Mouseketeer 3-D Jamboree is is it animated.
predicted number of sets: N/A
15. Best of Disneyland Series Season Sets
16. Best of Walt Disney Presents Series Season Sets
17. Best of Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color Season Sets
18. Best of The Mickey Mouse Club
Not interested. Assume that this will include already released material and could include stuff from those other suggested sets like no 2, 3, 4, 6, 8,
predicted number of sets: N/A
19. Moochie (Moochie of the Little League, Moochie of Pop Warner Football, Mooncussers, Johnny Shiloh)
20. Spin and Marty 2 and 3
21. The Hardy Boys 2
22. Corky and White Shadow
23. People and Places
Not interested. But some one need to create Wikipedia article on all of those no 19-23.
predicted number of sets: N/A
x24. The Fabulous 40's (uncut versions of all the 1940's animated package features)
I assume this include Fantasia, Saludos Amigos, Three Caballeros, Mike Mine Music, Melody Time and Ichabod and Mr Toad, Fun and Fancy Free. I would only include them in the WDT line if there is no other way show them enough respect (i.e uncensored)
predicted number of sets: 6 (at lest I hope every feature will be on separate DVD).
Not interested. But some one need to create Wikipedia article on all of those.25. Animal Stories (best of the TV hours like Sammy, the Way Out Seal)
predicted number of sets: N/A
x26. The Mouse Factory - Complete Series
I will only take those if there is actually interested bridge material in that compilation TV series.
But we can also throw other compilation shows into the mix like Good Morning Mickey, Donald Duck Presents, Donald ‘s Quack Attack,Mickey’s Mouse Tracks, The Ink and Pant Club (I think I named them all; if I missed any animated Compilation show please tell me). I want too point out that all Compilation theatrical films were mostly repeat of the Disneyland (or whatever you called the show) episodes, appart from one or two films made for the Academy Award.
predicted number of sets: N/A
Not interested. But some one need to create Wikipedia article on all of those.27. Disney Family Album - Complete Series
28. A Walt Disney Christmas
29. A Walt Disney Halloween
30. (And that doesn't even account for all the lesser known TV limited series and TV movies like Elfego Baca, Texas John Slaughter, Kilroy, Gallegher, et al).
31...and how about a volume saluting Roy E. Disney and his TV work?
predicted number of sets: N/A

They also could do all the animated TV commericals produced during the 50's (60's?) http://www.cartoonbrew.com/old-brew/the ... cials.html (this link is 4 year olds but still works)

>>Because of the many changes at Disney, the Treasures will not continue. I'm sorry about this because there were still gems in the vault.<<
Thanks deeply, Leonard, for all you did to get these shows out over the years. Everyone has benefitted from your passion and commitment to the classic Walt Disney films and TV programs.
Poor Ludwig VonDrake and company!
...This sad news on the heels of a renewed commitment to the suppression of "Song of the South... and still no word on further Disney Movie Club exclusives from the Walt Disney library either.
I hope the rights holders have not yet totally abandoned the remaining Walt Disney library. Other than trips to Disneyland, getting the rest of Walt's films, shorts, TV shows and music in digital quality is what it's all about for me.

I'd much rather believe Kaijueguy's post above either way. The reply that Zulu got from Maltin is probably just another case of him repeating the same "Treasures line is dead" mantra that he has repeated constantly since 2007.kaijueguy wrote:I've just finished reading these posts and I'm struck by the large amount of misinformation. Then we get the news about a Swiss Family Robinson DVD TIN with links to pictures that you need to join the site to see and a vague reference to an 800 number without supplying anyone with the full number so that we can check it out for ourselves. I'd like more information on this if anybody has it instead of
The fan based history of Disney information is so filled with people making things up and repeating it as fact that I'm getting weary of it all. I used to come here for fact-based information, not a lot of things made up on the spot.
Before we repeat things, can't we take a moment to make sure we get the facts straight and when we have information about hard to obtain releases. Let's get all the information out there. I'm sure others might be interested in obtaining a copy of the Swiss Family Tin and providing all the information could result in greater sales which would reinforce to Disney that this product is still marketable.
But I still recommend writing lots and lots of letters encouraging the company to keep the Disney Treasures line alive.

Why do I feel the same that this is just another false alarm, i.e "Treasures line is dead". I mean have they said anything officially anywere. For example when Warners' Looney Tunes golden collection line dead with vol 6 it was said officially by the studio. But Warner promised to countinue to release remaining LT/MM shorts as different series (even if it has took them over an year to figure out what too do) and now they post-poned the Super Stars sets just too make the restoration as good as possible. But in case of Disney we haven't heard a thing if WDT is dead or not nothing was promised offically with wave 9 or the waves before. And if Disney is so hell bent of pushing Blu-ray they should move the line to Blu-ray could be a huge cash cow.WDWLocal wrote:I'd much rather believe Kaijueguy's post above either way. I jut don't know what to think anymore when it comes to Disney's Home Entertainment Media Marketing division anymore. While I'm not going to cling to the unofficial annoucement that the Treasures line is dead, it's not going to surprise me in the least if it's true. Dissapoint, certainly. But this decision would not surprise me in the least.
After a year of promises of making vintage Disney more accessible, that's all we've really gottten, a lot of empty promises. They keep dangling that carrot in front of the vintage fans and like the horse pulling the cart, we keep double dipping but we never actually get to the carrot because they seem to have never intended for us to have it in the first place.
Sooner or later we're all going to get very tired of this. All I can say is thank God for my DVD Burner and that I managed to record so much of the vintage Disney Channel and that I took care of my official video releases. Sure a lot of it isn't the correct aspect ratio and it's not DVD or Blu-Ray qualiy but at least it's something.

I posted the address in this post of where to send letters! So let's start writing!
The only other option I can see is praying that either they start releasing them again, which most likely if momentum is dead will mean that they would give us the same stuff over again or that they start loosing the copyright on these things and they get released not by Disney. That may or may not happen as Disney seems to only save the copyright of things they care about.

If they move the line to Blu I have a feeling we'd just get re-issues of what was previously released. I can't see them picking up where they left off on a new format exclusively like that. We don't want the same Treasures material re-released over and over again. We want more un-released material. Seeing as BD players are backwards convertible there's no reason for them to go into re-release mode just yet. (I know a good number is out of print but still.)Heil Donald Duck wrote: And if Disney is so hell bent of pushing Blu-ray they should move the line to Blu-ray could be a huge cash cow.
