What's Your Opinion? Vol. 2- Hooters

Post by blackcauldron85 »

What's your opinion on...

the restaurant Hooters?

I've never actually been to Hooters. I don't know much about it besides the waitresses wearing skimpy outfits and supposedly their wings are good.

I'm under the impression that the restaurant exists as an acceptable way for a guy to oogle women in a public place without having to stoop to going to a strip club. But maybe the food is yummy- I wouldn't know, since I haven't been.

I don't know what the tips are like at Hooters vs. at another type of restaurant would be. I just did a quick Google search and didn't see any info.

If the tips are better than average, then I can't blame the girls for working there.

I don't like how guys can't be waiters, though. (Maybe I'd be more inclined to go... :D) That just screams discrimination to me. Apparently there's a lawsuit going on because of this:

Can a guy be a waiter at hooters?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 711AAXevNP

This article is what inspired me to choose this topic:

Sex ed and a trip to Hooters
A blogger’s lunch with his 11-year-old son provides an interesting window into our culture, where education, sexuality, parenting and the Internet collide.
http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2009/10/ ... ters-.html

Read the blog post that is mentioned early on, too. I thought that that was actually an interesting thing to do; the author got to know his son better, in some ways, which is cool, I guess.

And I found this article, about one girl's experience being a Hooters waitress:

Being a Hooters Girl.
http://www.epinions.com/review/rest-Cha ... 6629204612

So, what's your opinion of Hooters? Do you enjoy their food? Do you think that males should be able to be waiters there? Do you think that they're horribly sexist and would never step in there? Is it your favorite restaurant?

Thoughts, comments, questions, concerns? Discuss!

I have never been (for obvious reasons ), but I don't see anything terribly wrong with it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I wouldn't take my eleven-year-old there, and apart from the tasty wings I have no real reason to go there, but it's hardly the most pressing morality issue of today.

I, however, would like to create a "spin-off" restaurant, if you will, named "Cocks". Because you see the mascot is a rooster.

Also there will be men in hot pants.
"Ta ta ta taaaa! Look at me... I'm a snowman! I'm gonna go stand on someone's lawn if I don't get something to do around here pretty soon!"

Wait, the pants are hot or the men in them are?

Well, I was never one for sexualising of the human body, but I dont really mind. I guess there's not much wrong with it aside from that. I might go someday, but im still living with my parents, so not anytime soon.

This does remind me of a spoof commercial I once saw for Hooters on the web. A family goes there and none of the waitresses have any pants on. 'nuff said. :P

I heard they have good wings. Here lately, I've made rather of hobby of visiting resturaunts I've never been to. Hooters sounds great, actually, but it's nowhere I'd like to go with my mother or grandmother. But I'd certainly like to check it out someday....

Never been to Hooters. I have however, been to the Tilted Kilt with my friends, since they serve better beer there than Hooters does (and believe me, I go to bars for beer, not waitresses. My friends on the other hand...)

They dress...well, judge for yourself: http://www.tiltedkilt.com/arizona/peori ... _front.png

It's not any worse than Hooters' waitresses outfits. Keeps my friends happy. and good beer keeps me happy. :)

Been to a couple of Hooters, a friend of mine is the one who enjoyed those places. Mediocre, overpriced food and girls in tight white t shirts best describes it.

Don't think they should have guy waiters there as it goes against the themeing. I don't think that the regular patrons would really enjoy that either.

Personally, I think someone ought to take a Hooters concept and combine it with SHJ's idea that he posted on this thread. The best of both worlds. Everyone's happy. Some of us are twice as happy. Everyone wins. End of story.

LOL. Think that's crazy? Try going to Japan: Maid cafes and/or Anna Miller restaurants. Not into maids but the Anna Miller waitress outfits are delicious.

I love that image. Have it in my Kim Possible folder file

As for hooters themselves, yea I've been there lots of time. Relatively harmless. The food is ok there.

Oh GOD- why didn't you just call this WYO "Vol. 2: Prostitution"? :D

The episode of Roseanne that dealt with this topic, only calling the "establishment" Becky was waiting for Buns (cute swtich, huh?), nailed pretty much everything there was to nail. Though I personally think Lecy Goranson would have done a much better job with this storyline, she was probably just a bit younger than Sarah Chalke.

Even if their wings sucked, they'd still be a hit. Look what Dave says about their beer.

I may be way off base here... because I haven't gone and not everyone is bound to say the same thing... I've heard men behave themselves fairly well at these kinds of places. If I were a woman though, I would have a slight moral problem with waiting at this place until I knew what it was like. And man or woman, you'd sooner see me at a Chippendale's (where I assume the atmosphere is much louder, noisier than Hooters), or... a Cock's (beautyidea, Jack). Although, I think if Buns hasn't in fact been snatched up yet by some establishment... :P

I shudder to think what would happen if they hired a man to work at a place like that. If people would insist he had to be overweight because of the obvious tit-like shape of a chubbier man's breast. Then, it would become a really bad joke and... well, it's better I stop this analogy / suggestion now. The closest a man will ever get to waiting for Hooters is Peter Griffin in an episode of Family Guy.

I don't know what 'Hooters' looks like, so I can't really judge. It sounds like a strange concept to me. But then again, in my country it's legal to go window-shopping (literally) for a girl you want to have paid sex with... So what's "strange" exactly?

CBS had this new show on every sunday thats an hour long...its called Undercover Boss....where the President of a Company of a Bussiness goes undercover to see what improvements they should make and see who is acting out of balance or rude but the thing is...the employee doesn't know its the boss he's working with....anyway my point is they did one of Hooters...Undercover Boss and here is teh full episoe on CBS.com

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/undercover ... &play=true

When Coby Brooks, President and CEO of "Hooters" goes undercover in his own company, he finds himself struggling to keep up in a fast-paced kitchen and is, later, forced to take immediate action when a restaurant manager steps out of line.
The new CBS reality series UNDERCOVER BOSS follows high-level chief executives as they slip anonymously into the rank and file of their companies.

Each week a different executive will leave the comfort of their corner office for an undercover mission to examine the inner workings of their company. While working alongside their employees, they will see the effects their decisions have on others, where the problems lie within their organization and get an up-close look at both the good and the bad while discovering the unsung heroes who make their company run.

Companies whose chief executives will make the undercover journey include such corporate giants as Waste Management (Larry O'Donnell, President and C.O.O.), 7-Eleven (Joseph M. DePinto, President and C.E.O.), Hooters (Coby G. Brooks, President and C.E.O.), White Castle (Dave Rife, Owner/Executive Board Member) and Churchill Downs (William C. Carstanjen, C.O.O.).

I've been before, and the food is alright. Yes the waitresses working there wear the Hooter's outfits, but its not bad in my opinion.

Overall, in my experience its not that much different from a normal restaurant other than the clothing. Some of the waitresses will pull up an empty seat and sit next to you when they take your order. I've never had that happen outside of Hooters, but other than that its pretty close to a "normal" place.

As far as having men work there... they do (cooks), but not as waiters. As Maerj said it would go against the theme of the restaurant, and wouldn't be a big hit with the regular customers.

There's a Hooters I would go to every day.

I actually have only been once. It was a friend's birthday, and that's where he wanted to go. However, in our town the girls aren't very attractive in general, so places one would go to for the purpose of ogling women have little appeal. Still, there is usually at least one attractive girl around in any given retaurant (but it pales in comparison to any restaurant in any other town I've been too). Anyway, I was unimpressed with the food, and who wants to eat sloppy finger food in front of attractive or even semi-attractive waitresses? Not me, I get too self conscious. But what I really don't like about the place is that the outfits aren't even hot because of the ugly tights they make them wear. Might as well wear jeans. Shorts are pointless if you're not bare legged.

Anyway, a joke between my friends and I is that we should open a place called Cupcakes, because not everyone prefers huge breasts, after all. Though, I like them okay, ha. I just hate silicon.
