I've only seen Disney movies Aladdin and beyond in HD on TV on rare occasions, but can someone tell me when and where they've broadcast the ones prior to Aladdin in HD. Also, I thought Snow White was the only Disney movie never broadcast on TV, or just not on the Disney Channel.

Disney Cinemagic HD in the UK.

Man, that makes me wish I lived in the UK. Also, shockingly I found out a few minutes ago Snow White is premiering on ABC Family tonight. It's weird how coincidentally close that is to what I said last night.

Do we know for a fact that all of these are HD? The reason I ask is because I've seen "HD" broadcasts of Aladdin and Pocahantas, and they both looked like upconverts of the DVD transfers to me, and not true HD.

when was DUMBO on television? :?
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

Well, Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, and The Black Cauldron used to play fairly regularly on Toon Disney not too long back. But I'm assuming the HD presentation comes from the UK's Disney Cinemagic (that is the channel's name, correct?)

They are HD broadcasts, I don't know the technical details (i.e 720p, 1080i, 1080p etc.) I think whether it's an upconvert varies per broadcast. "The channel upscales all standard definition content and shows original high definition content where available. " according to Wikipedia. I'm not technical enough to tell the difference.

When I last saw Aladdin on ABC Family, I could immediately see a difference in quality as if there was a whole new depth to it. I was pretty mad that I couldn't record it for keepsake; my stupid brother got DVR (lucky SOB). It was definitely HD 'cause I watched the DVD later that night and the quality wasn't as as defined. As for Pocahontas; maybe Disney Channel doesn't get all Disney movies on HD. They didn't show Nightmare Before Christmas in HD back in December. For some reason, they didn't even show it in widescreen format.

It's really obvious when something gets upscaled, I don't really see any movies upscaled. The only one that even comes to mind is a goofy movie.
But Aladdin, Lilo, etc were clearly Hd.

I stand corrected. Maybe Comcast compresses the living daylights out of ABC Family and Disney in my area (a definite possibility).
