So I just got home from buying Ponyo on Bluray from Target with the $10 off coupon and I realize that the Bluray has no inside cover art. It's a first for a Disney Bluray. But then again the last Disney bluray I purchased was Up and Monsters, Inc. so I don't know if this has just recently started. I really liked the inner artwork.

Cool! Thanks jrboy. Might check out Ponyo. Haven't seen it yet. Too bad they don't have a coupon for the DVD-only edition. I'm interested to see this re-telling of The Litttle Mermaid.jrboy wrote:YesBarbossa wrote:Just a quick question, are there DMR points with with new Studio Ghibli releases? I was looking at the packaging and didn't see th DMR logo anywhere.

Well, I plan to purchase KiKi's Delivery Service today. I decided that even though the two songs were cut and a line was cut, the bonus features are such a plus, that it makes the cuts feel less painful. I think, if I can find them, I'll purchase them or get them someway or another.

Are you talking about the English dub, Japanese track w/ subs, or both?TheSequelOfDisney wrote:Well, I plan to purchase KiKi's Delivery Service today. Disney owns the Studio Ghibli rights outside of Japan. So, if Miramax goes, Mononoke stays with Disney. They'll probably release it under the Touchstone banner or--most likely--do it as a purely Disney release.Duckburger wrote:Yeah, me too. Though with Disney selling Miramax at the moment, I wonder if they'll keep the rights, since it is released through the Miramax label. Maybe they'll sell it along with all the other Miramax films.

I just purchased KiKi's Delivery Service, and it definitely sounds like Kirsten Dunst is speaking into a fan. It's kind of bothersome and annoying. My VHS of the film does not sound like this, so I'm wondering why it does sounds like she is talking into a fan. It's most definitely something I've never come across before; it's quite odd, actually.space_monkey wrote:I just received the Kiki's Delivery Service DVD I ordered for my daughter. We started watching maybe the first half hour last night and the dialog does not sound right.
Primarily when listening to Kirsten Dunst and Phil Hartman's dialog, it sounds like they are talking into a fan.
I'm not sure the proper term for describing the artifact but I'm sure there's probably some term related to modulation or something along those lines. It is there constantly and is more noticeable on longer continuous audio like if she exclaims "wheeeeeeeee" while on her broom or something. I don't think I heard it on other adult dialog or sound effects or music.
I have no experience with the older version so this may be how it was originally recorded but it is highly distracting for me and makes it very difficult to enjoy the movie.
There was no mention of it in the review on this site so I'm hoping someone else can confirm my issue with the new Kiki dvd where their voices sound like they're talking through a fan.
If you can confirm it on the new version, if possible, please also reference if it also exists on the previous version as my intent is to pick up a version for my daughter and I'm not picky about which one.
Thanks.

I bought it and will get back to you on that! So far I've only watched the bonus features and the storyboard film (from old dvd) is there PLUS new stuff.slave2moonlight wrote:Does anyone know if the new Totoro release is as good as the previous DVD release? I need to know if I should get it or avoid it, as I currently don't own this film at all and have always wanted to see it.
