I had a list of 51, then I weeded down to 41. From those 41 songs, I figured that these are the songs that mean the most to me.

Besides #1, I didn't feel like putting them in order. :p

1. Hanson- A Song to Sing
2. Aslyn- That’s When I Love You
3. Roy Orbison- Only the Lonely
4. Fefe Dobson- Everything
5. Cyndi Thompson- What I Really Meant To Say
6. Extreme- More Than Words
7. Billy Joel- The Longest Time
8. Blessid Union of Souls- Light In Your Eyes
9. The Platters- The Great Pretender
10. The Beatles- If I Fell
11. The Beatles- Yesterday
12. Mandy Moore- Extraordinary
13. Mandy Moore- I Wanna Be With You
14. Mandy Moore- Cry
15. Mandy Moore- Crush
16. Hilary Duff- Fly
17. Hilary Duff- So Yesterday
18. Elvis Presley- One Night
19. Elvis Presley- Suspicious Minds
20. BBMak- Still On Your Side
21. Britney Spears- I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman
22. Backstreet Boys- One In A Million
23. Backstreet Boys- Climbing the Walls
24. Backstreet Boys- Incomplete
25. Richard Marx- Right Here Waiting

*edit* Totally forgot Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven".

*edit* Totally forgot Take That's "Back For Good". And Scene 23's "I Really Don't Think So", which was in my initial list of 41... And The Police's "Every Breath You Take". This is hard. :p And Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody"...I should've just posted my long list. :p

Only 25?! What are you doing to me?!

Okay, but only in alphabetical order...

-------
The Beatles- Help!

The Beatles- Here comes the sun

The Beatles - Let it be

Always a big source of comfort, and a powerful, convincing song at the same time.

The Beatles- Penny Lane

Bob Dylan - Blind Willie McTell

It's not just an ode to a great blues singer, but a bone-chilling history of the hardships of black people in the US, sung with amazing intensity.

Bob Dylan - Bob Dylan's 115th dream

Bob Dylan - Desolation Row

Are the lyrics non-sensical? I don't even know what they mean. But the brilliance is that, the way they're arranged and sung, they form a logical song.

Bob Dylan - Don't think twice, it's allright

Bob Dylan - I want you

Bob Dylan- Hurricane

Can you listen to the lyrics about this grave injustice, and hear that haunting violin, and not cry at the end? I can't.

Bob Dylan - Stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues again

Boudewijn de Groot - Eva

Holland's best performer, still after 40 years. This song has God talking about the creation of Eve.

Boudewijn de Groot- Prikkebeen

This is a beautiful surreal medieval fairy tale (at least that's my interpretation). Credits to lyricist Lennaert Nigh.

Boudewijn de Groot- Kinderballade

Don McLean - American Pie

Greater lyrics have never been written. A wonderful cryptic puzzle. There's a lot of amazing allegory going on in here.

Frank Sinatra - I've got you under my skin

The best vocalist of all time performs the best love song of all time.

Frank Sinatra - The girl from Ipanema (with Antonio Carlos Jobim)

As if Frank's voice wasn't enchanting enough, he gets company from ACJ...

Joe Cocker - With a little help from my friends

Have you seen his performance at Woodstock?!

The Kinks - Celluloid Heroes

Obligatory inclusion for every lover of the classic Hollywood movies (and of poetry).

Martha and the Vandellas - Heatwave

Neil Young - Rockin' in the free world

If only for the wonderful irony surrounding the hijacking and abuse of this song after 9/11...

Stephen Malkmus - Ballad of a thin man

Don't tell Bob I put this cover of his song (from the movie I'M NOT THERE) on the list, but Stephen makes the song even better.)

Simon & Garfunkel - April come she will

Only a very short nursery rhyme, but so beautiful, because of the way it's sung.

Simon & Garfunkel - The Sound of Silence

"Hello darkness, my old friend"... There's nothing else to say...

Wim Sonneveld - Huis, tuin en keukenliedje

Dutch stand-up comedian and singer from the 1960's.

It was really difficult to approach this topic for several reasons. First, I have a predisposition to think of what’s new first (because that’s what’s closest to my memory and I also don’t have a lot of albums from older singers, because of financial limitations). Then there’s the fact that my mind has a hard time remembering every song I’ve ever liked before, since I’ll forget some artists here and there, and some songs I’ll forget over time though I liked them. And I’m also leaving out Disney songs, end credit songs, and musicals. So, yeah, there are a lot of songs, a lot of artists, a lot of covers, etc. that it’s impossible to convey everything that I really enjoy, that may get left off in the end (like Mariah Carey, The Corrs, etc. etc. etc.).

Regardless, the first 10 or so are likely not to change for a long time. The others are indefinitely set.

1. “Because of You” by Kelly Clarkson
2. “Iris” by The Goo Goo Dolls
3. “Too Much” by Spice Girls
4. “She Thinks His Name Was John” by Reba McEntire
5. “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton
6. “1985” by Bowling For Soup
7. “Irvine” by Kelly Clarkson
8. “Till You Love Me” by Reba McEntire
9. “I’ll Be Watching You” by The Police
10. “Lucky” by Britney Spears
11. “This Kiss” by Faith Hill
12. “Imagine” by John Lennon (as sung by Dolly Parton)
13. “Deeper Than The Holler” by Randy Travis
14. “Long Black Train” by Josh Turner
15. “It’s My Life” by No Doubt
16. “It Matters To Me” by Faith Hill
17. “Stop and Stare” by One Republic
18. “Songs About Rain” by Gary Allan
19. “Almost” by Bowling For Soup
20. “The Way You Loved Me” by Taylor Swift
21. “I Write The Songs” by Barry Manilow
22. “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban
23. “These Dreams” by Heart
24. “Good As I Was To You” by Lorrie Morgan
25. “Boys Boys Boys” by Lady Gaga
26. “Beautiful Disaster” by Kelly Clarkson
27. “Silver and Gold” by Dolly Parton
28. “Fancy” by Reba McEntire
29. “Alyssa Lies” by Jason Michael Carroll
30. “Does He Love You?” by Reba McEntire
31. “Crazy for You” by Madonna
32. “Maybe” by Kelly Clarkson
33. “Love Story” by Taylor Swift
34. “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” by Elton John
35. “Something in Red” by Lorrie Morgan
36. “My Life Would Suck Without You” by Kelly Clarkson

This topic is RIGGED :D !!!

How about Top 100? Or 1,000? Either way, it's still very hard limiting oneself.

Well, it is from my iTunes library, not the actual top 25 songs on iTunes (which, I'm sure none of those are in the top 25, if there even is a top 25). So, I wasn't really being unoriginal. I do need to fix it though, which I might get to, later.
