I have a "Making of Snow White" sort of book, not sure if that's the actual title, that I got back in the '90's. It's hardcover, and I won it in an essay writing contest.
And while it's just a storybook and not a "making of", I have a great "Disney That Never Was" kinda book about Chanticlare (sp?) the rooster. I also have a couple of the art books you're talking about, though I forget which (I know one is Fantasia 2000, but I have like 2 others or so.
Oh, and today I went to Big Lots, by the way, and found two neat books. One was a Disneyland souvenir book that must have come from the parks. Not sure what year, but it included California Adventure. The style was similar to an old souvenir book my family used to have (sadly, it got all worn out) from my first and only trip there when I was like 5 or so, back around 1980. Ever since then, we went to the Florida park. But the other cool book I got at Big Lots today (and these were 3 bucks each) was a Home on the Range book, very high quality and clearly meant more for adult collectors, that is the story from the lead cow's point of view, or something, but also includes production art and stuff in it. I haven't had a chance to give it a close look over.
Ah, here is the Amazon page: http://www.amazon.com/Home-Range-Advent ... 615&sr=1-3 Well, I don't know if this was the only art book for Home on the Range, but the disappointed reviews make it sound like it is (folks didn't like the concept of it). Regardless, 3 bucks at Big Lots is a pretty sweet deal.

I have several Disney art books, including . . .
The Art of Walt Disney (two different editions)
The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation
The Disney Villain
The Art of The Lion King
The Art of Pocahontas
The Art of The Hunchback of Notre Dame
The Tarzan Chronicles
. . .
I know I had more, including books on The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hercules, Mulan, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and possibly a few others, but they're either still packed away or lost from a move. Now that I've gained some space for my books I'd like to get back to collecting as many as possible.

I have that Villain one too. I have some others as well, including the Illusion of Life, the Encyclopedia of Animated Characters (the edition with Aladdin on the cover), and a Disney animation book that had Beauty and the Beast on its lenticular cover (not sure if that one is still in good shape or not, as I may have had that the longest). I'm sure I've also got some others I can't remember just now. Those "Art of" books I have, I think one might be Hunchback and one might be Hercules, but I'm really not 100 percent certain which. Might have the Pocahontas one too. I THINK I missed out on the Lion King one, but I'd have to double check. Yeah, this is the kind of library I'd like to expand on as well.

GAH!!! The Encyclopedia of Animated Characters, I knew I was forgetting something important! I used to have two editions of that, I just loved those things to death and I have no clue what happened to them. One of them had Aladdin on the cover, the other had Hercules.
Yeah, the Beauty and the Beast book with the lenticular cover was the same one I had.
I had a later edition of the book as well that instead focused on Hercules. I also used to have that storybook of Chanticleer, as well as Andreas Deja's version of Puss 'n Boots, signed . . . sigh, I really wish I hadn't lost that one. I'm sure that there had to have been others, I used to have quite the collection.
Oh, and I'm not sure if this counts, but I do have the Sotheby's catalog for the art of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Hmmm...now since I know there are some, can any of them actually be bought? I'm not sure how many are produced and whether once they go OOP there's never going to be any again.
For Disney, the only one which can still be bought is Bolt.
At least Pixar most are available save A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc., Ratatouille and now Up. Toy Story 2 seems to have never had one. Toy Story has one republished I think? Is there hope for any of these to be republished?
Like I've already stated I'd definitely pick up one of Tarzan and also Hunchback, Brother Bear, Treasure Planet basically those that I think would have gorgeous art because of the subject matter, not saying the others won't but those I mentioned seem like they would have a style I would appreciate more, if that makes any sense.
So, anyone know how to get them? Will they be reprinted/republished?
Also, these are considerably more expensive than DVDs, Blu-Rays, toys, etc. so are they worth it and how did you get your collections?
Thanks for anyone who has time to answer my questions!

Well, I've become great friends with Ebay. You may want to try that. As for whether or not they are worth it, I'd say yes, but it's totally a matter of individual opinion.BK wrote:Hmmm...now since I know there are some, can any of them actually be bought? Re: Are there any 'The Art of' DAC books?
I didn't want to start a new thread so hopefully someone can help me
I was wondering if there was any difference between the contents of the normal sized vs miniature books?
I ordered Art of Pocahontas but the seller didn't say it was the miniature version.....
It was still very interesting but art books should never have come in miniature form.

I agree, I'm not sure whose idea it was to create miniature art books. One of the dumbest things...
I don't think The Little Mermaid even has a non-miniature artbook.
I have a large version of The Art of Pocahontas somewhere, but I don't own the miniature version to tell you the differences.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

The Miniature version of Little Mermaid is like £60 on Amazon.co.uk!!!! Craziness.
Apparently its really crappy too so I think I'll give this one a miss at least.
I'm trying to expand my Disney book library and they are so expensive. Disney needs to re-publish some of these books.

Re: Are there any 'The Art of' DAC books?
I have the mini LM art book...its ok but it has too many film stills and not enough actual art..
Little Mermaid really needs a large proper art book...I wouldve also loved one for Enchanted.
I have quite a few Disney artbooks...but one I really want thats just recently gone OOP is The Disney Sketchbook. I really hope they reprint that one again, maybe with new sketches from Frozen.
Im also tempted to buy the Art of The Disney Princess but I wish it was actual concept/animation art from the films. The art it has is very nice but it feels abit like Im paying for a book of fanart...
Ive asked this already in an another thread... has anyone ever heard of a book called Disney's Neglected Prince? it was supposed to come out in 2009 according to this Cartoon Brew article but I cant find any info about it anywhere, or if it was ever even released for sale: http://www.cartoonbrew.com/books/2009-a ... 10410.html

Disney's Neglected Prince was never released. The title says it all, Disney confirm that they are indeed forgetting about their male heroes. And then - to not even release that announced book? Really sad, it confirms that Disney really are neglecting their princes and male heroes. "Disney Princess" all the way to the bank:/
I still hope that it will be released someday though, and that it can now be updated to include the likes of Naveen, Flynn Rider, Kristoff and Hans.

^thats too bad! I love the idea behind it...hopefully they will eventually release it updated. Maybe when Giants comes out, since it is a fairytale but with a male protagonist.

Re: Are there any 'The Art of' DAC books?
As I'm feeling mentally crap right now, I gave in and got a second hand version of Art Of Pocahontas on a website where ISBN numbers are posted. Some minor nicks on dust jacket and inscription but nothing I can't handle. Miniature version was supposedly published 1996 and the big book version in 1995. I will be so, so annoyed if it turns up and its the small book again. My mum will kill me after the depression spending binge I've been on recently.
I will see if there is any difference although I imagine it is minor if there is any.

Re: Are there any 'The Art of' DAC books?
My large 'Art of Pocahontas' book turned up and there is a significant amount of artwork missing from the miniature version so thankfully it was worth the money to purchase the large book.
Its lovely to see the artwork in a size that I can see it.

I'm feeling much better now thanks. Just happened to be a really rough week.Atlantica wrote:… I hope you're ok ?![]()

I do quite like the miniature book as well. Going to keep both. The miniature displays really nicely on the Disney DVD/BD unit thing I got going on (gotta have a bit of poca on there).
Now my mad brain is saying to get some of the other miniature books for display which makes me want to hit myself.
