DVD News: Star Wars supplements announced, B.I Ex. DVD!
The Force Returns... Again - 2:22pm
In what appears to be a weekly feature, it is time yet again for more Star Wars news. In case you hadn't heard, the original Trilogy about Jedis, Stormtroopers and Mogwai (oops, I mean Ewoks) will hit DVD for the first time on September 21st in a four-disc box set. In addition to the technical specs and commentaries already announced, Lucasfilm has revealed the full lineup of video supplements. The centerpiece of the extras will be the 180-minute documentary "Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy," produced by Kevin Burns. The program, part of which will be shown on cable TV this fall, includes interviews with more than 40 members of the cast and crew of all three film, plus never-before-seen screen tests. Additional featurettes include "The Birth of the Lightsaber," "The Characters of Star Wars" and "The Force Is With Them: The Legacy of Star Wars" (featuring filmmakers talking about the influence of the trilogy), the 10-minute "Episode III Behind the Scenes Preview: The Return of Darth Vader," "Star Wars: Episode III" making the game preview, a never-before-seen production gallery plus posters and print campaigns, original trailers and TV spots for all three films, a "Star Wars Battlefront" trailer and playable demo, and exclusive DVD-ROM content to come. Retail will be $69.95 for the box set, available in either widescreen or full screen versions.
Don't Open the Box! - 2:22pm
Do not adjust your set. Do not change the channel. Yes, you are experiencing DVD deja vu. On July 13th, Universal Studios Home Video will reissue the box office hit The Bourne Identity: Explosive Extended Edition just in time for the theatrical debut of its sequel. This two-disc set is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 and includes the featurettes "The Bourne Mastermind: Robert Ludlum," "Matt Damon: From Identity to Supremacy," "Inside a Fight Sequence," "The Speed of Sound," "The Bourne Diagnosis," "Cloak and Dagger: Covert Ops," "Access Granted: An Interview with Screenwriter Tony Gilroy" and "Declassified Information," plus a new never-before-seen opening and an alternate ending, deleted scenes, a Moby music video, filmographies, production notes, theatrical trailers and exclusive ROM content. Retail will be $29.95.

Thanks for posting the info, but from now on, would you mind doing it in this thread: http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... php?t=2657
Keeping it to one thread kind of stops the inevitable number of new threads popping up about SW on DVD. Thanks!

Well, the doco itself goes for 2.5 hours, plus there are about 4 other featuerettes, trailers etc. Plus the previews for III and the audio commentaries...really, Lucas has exceeded all of our expectations (let's face it - he could have released 3 barebones discs and most punters would have still bought copies).Ludwig Von Drake wrote:I'm sure the documentary by Ken Burns will be good but I wish more extras were put on the DVD.
Still, do not doubt there will be a another boxset somewhere down the line (expecially after the new trilogy is over).

Gosh, this makes my night. Lotta thought went into that.Disney Guru wrote:i am so exxxxxxxxxxxxxxcitttttttttttttted!
On Topic: Ken Burns doing a 3 hour documentary is news that could only be topped by letting him direct episode 3. I haven't seen Jar Jar in any Burns produced projects.
15 gallon 7 pint blood donor as of 1-4-11. Done donating. Apparently having Cancer makes you kind of ineligible to donate.

I'm pretty sure the Civil War contained several vintage photos of Jar Jar fighting with the Confederates...buffalobill wrote:On Topic: Ken Burns doing a 3 hour documentary is news that could only be topped by letting him direct episode 3. I haven't seen Jar Jar in any Burns produced projects.
He was originally meant to narrate, but I think they wisely went with Morgan Freeman in the end.
