If Disney's other documentaries are any indication (besides DisneyNature), then it'll be a limited release.

And I'm used to people riffing on The Black Cauldron, but also saying that The Great Mouse Detective isn't a good film? Really now...?

Yeah, I don't know why they showed scenes from Detective, as it's a genuinely well-liked film, plus it did do very well for its time. To be honest, of the films in Disney's supposedly post-Walt Dark Age, The Black Cauldron is the only one I dislike.

Go to apple and watch the trailer! It's includes loads of behind the scenes stuff and...clips of many Disney Classics that have clearly been spruced up for HD! Lion King, Basil, Pocahontas, Mermaid, Aladdin, etc.

Does anyone know if the UK will get this release?

The doc should be cool and its on my favorite period of Disney Feature Animation history.

What should be of note is haw amazing all the CAPS films look in HD. Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King look so sharp they could cut my eyes

The Lion King just looks stunning in HD. All the non-CAPS films just look dirty as hell (guess I'm spoiled with Snow White, Pinocchio, Dumbo and Sleeping Beauty looking so pristine and newer then these 80's movies).

It's *that* kind of story... AGAIN! Nothing new here. Just a bunch of people joining the parrot squad of slamming the films made between 1967-1988 and patting themselves on the back for making the 'fab four'.

Yeah I dont think that alot of people take into account the fact that The Great Mouse Detective and Oliver & Company were "overlooked stepping stones" that would lead to the fab four. Granted your mileage may vary as to how good these two films were but rest assured they were slowly bringing the Disney bucks back in that allowed The Little Mermaid to become a blockbuster. I dont think that wouldnt have happened if TLM was released right after The Black Cauldron.

The Princess and the Frog could even be seen in this way. If Rapunzel/Tangled/Whatever and films following it become a big hit, can we expect people to forget about The Princess and the Frog just because the earnings werent big enough? I certainly hope not!

The footage for the trailer seems interesting though. I oughta take a gander at this documentary when I can.

I am SO excited. Not only do I love documentaries, but 80s-90s Disney is my favorite era, it has such a captivating history, and it is a time you don't get to hear much reflection about. Over the moon thrilled, amazed and looking forward to this!! Also hopeful that I'll actually get to see it, as Seattle is big on documentaries and we get most limited releases (we've had screenings here of all the other recent Disney focused films, such as Walt and El Grupo) we also have a large film festival coming up this spring. But ultimately I really really want to see a DVD release of this, because I already known I want to own it. It is so enticing to me, its almost worth the trip to a city screening it next month to see it!

Just watched the trailer on my TV in HD through my Apple TV - The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, all look absolutely amazing in HD, the Lion King especially.

"It's very honest," Clements said," but if anything is missing, it's how difficult it was to make Aladdin, which was included but wound up on the cutting room floor." A very challenging movie, in fact, with so many iterations (Ashman's vision was much darker) that it was temporarily shelved, enabling Ashman to rescue Beauty and the Beast and help transform this masterpiece into the first animated Best Picture nominee
