I just wrote him...I'll let you know if he writes back. Thanks for the idea!BK wrote: Does anyone have Twitter?
Lee Unkrich uses it a lot and that would be a great thing to ask.

Wow, so the only other Pixar movie that wasn't a sequel is now dead, leaving us with just The Bear and the Bow for originality (one thing Pixar has always been VERY good at). Toy Story 3, Cars 2 and Monsters Inc. 2, sounds like a boring line up. I loved seeing the new characters and worlds Pixar would introduce us to every year and their current line up just looks boring.

Hey now, we dont know if Monsters inc 2 is actually in the works. In fact theres probably more evidence against that for it at this point, since Pete Docter has said hes not working on it. I assume its another anounced project. likely an original one.jpanimation wrote:Wow, so the only other Pixar movie that wasn't a sequel is now dead, leaving us with just The Bear and the Bow for originality (one thing Pixar has always been VERY good at). well, Ice age got away with it didnt they? Im sure they would have found a tasteful way to make it work.Neal wrote:I feel as if Newt was too contingent on sex, how do you explain mating rituals for a whole movie?

Sorry, I saw an IMDB page for Monsters Inc. 2 and assumed it was official. Either way, I want some new original properties. We only get one Pixar movie a year and when its a sequel, I feel ripped off.Kyle wrote:Hey now, we dont know if Monsters inc 2 is actually in the works. Anyways, one of the main reasons I was excited for Newt is Gary Rydstrom was directing. I absolutely loved Lifted (my second favorite short after For the Birds) and was really excited to see where he'd take this movie (especially since it looked like a comedy).

Can't say I'm disappointed; Newt sounded like a horrible waste of time and effort. Another Cars, in other words. But, hey, with their track record of turning really great concepts into so-so films, maybe the films that sound to be really bad I'll like.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

John Lasseter did let Lee Unkrich take over TS3 and Brad Lewis with Cars 2, so maybe he let someone else instead of Pete take the reigns of a Monsters sequel. But John only stepped down as director because he's really busy. It only makes sense to put Pete in Monsters Inc 2 if there will be one.Kyle wrote:Hey now, we dont know if Monsters inc 2 is actually in the works. I'm sorry to hear this news too. "Newt" was a Pixar film I was actually anticipating eagerly. Not that the story's premise was anything particularly original (car/animal/toy gets taken away from his comfort spot and is forced to adapt/escape from a strange new environment he finds himself in...) but the whole thing sounded so cute! I was interested to see what Pixar lizards and newts would look like. I had pictured them to look similar to Randell in Monsters, Inc.
I fear that the project was scrapped because of the whole "relationships" aspect. Love, romance, mating, etc... does not hold up with a studio known for action, weird characters, and humor. Of course, there was romance in Incredibles, Toy Story, Wall-E, but not a whole lot of it (except Wall-E perhaps, though I could have liked more of it, and less "running around the spaceship" scenes.) I wish Pixar would have tried harder on this film and, as Tim Gunns says in "Project Runway", "MAKE IT WORK!"

Awww man, I really was hoping to see this one. I think I'm more disappointed about this than The King of the Elves (but not as much as The Snow Queen). I really was hoping to see more romance out of Pixar, to be honest, since I think that's what makes WALL-E my favorite.
