But now on the heels of “The Princess and the Frog” not exactly setting the world box office on fire, Walt Disney Animation Studios seems to be having second thoughts about getting back into the animated fairy tale business. Don’t believe me? Then why is it – on Wednesday of this week – that Mouse House managers just registered a bunch of new non-fairy tale-sounding titles for “Rapunzel” ? Among them …

Those are utterly ridiculous titles! If you're gonna make a fairytale, then make a real fairytale and call it by it's original name. What are Disney thinking? They seemed to be on the right track and my faith in Disney was stronger than ever before, but then they change the name for this movie and cancel The Snow Queen? Stupid, stupid, stupid! But what can one expect when the former leader of the Disney Tween Crap Channel is the new boss...

Rapunzel
Ha, I knew it!Eisner expresses some reservations about the team assigned to Snow Queen, then adds, “John Lasseter. If we can make a new deal with Pixar …”
Stainton jumps in. “You mean when we make a new deal with Pixar.”
“I said to John, you can have Snow Queen. He loved it. John said, ‘I want to do a princess movie.’"
And Rapunzel better stay...Rapunzel! No name change...and not too much of a story change from the original tale, either...

Well, would you rather have Rapunzel Unbraided, and have it actually be the original Unbraided version, or the title be Tangled, but have it still be the same Rapunzel we'd be getting, regardless of the title?
I mean, by this title, Rapunzel better be tying up Flynn with her hair...hence "Tangled"...I mean, I know that she "tangled" him with her hair in the picture that was released, but she better do it a heck of a lot in order for the title to make sense...
(I just said to Bobby, and he thought that it was funny, "It's not like they're calling it Princess Rapunzel and the Fairy Queen, meaning about a girly title. I don't know.

Tangled sounds way too s&m for a Disney animated musical comedy. As soon as we get a press release confirming this dreadfull news, I'm gonna start a petition to revert the title back, this is just AWFULL!!! AWFULL, AWFULL, AWFULL. The worst titled they could have picked out of the bunch!!! The absolute worst. The one I had already written off after reading the list...
I'm just livid!

Seriously, HOW could this movie be considered a classic Disney fairytale movie, which it is, with a title like "Tangled"??? I mean, they've never given any of their classic fairytale movies a generic sounding DUMB title like this before. This is a sign of weakness and complete lack of respect for the Disney brand, name and legacy!
On top of that, the movie has been marketed and publicized about for almost a decade now as being "Rapunzel" and now, less then 10 months away from release, they change it to some generic rom com sounding title. How about indeed all the products and merchandise for the movie. Are they gonna rename all those products last minute? Sounds a freaking disaster!
And how are they gonna make a trailer for this, avoid the character or at least the name "Rapunzel" completely? I mean, the story is what it is, what good does a tacky, stupid title do when after hearing the name "Rapunzel" everyone will keep reffering to it as "Rapunzel"?
Have you seen "Tangled" yet? What? The one about Rapunzel! OOOHH, that movie!
WHAT are they thinking???

Re: Rapunzel
Pixar also originally wanted to do "The Princess and the Frog", which could have been so really awesome.Disney Duster wrote:Eisner expresses some reservations about the team assigned to Snow Queen, then adds, “John Lasseter. If we can make a new deal with Pixar …”

Okay, "Tangled" sounds like it's gonna be a comedy, and I'm confused, wasn't "Rapunzel Unbraided" meant to be a Shrek-like comedy, which was the reason why John Lasseter and the other execs at Disney ordered for the story to be revamped once they took over? Because the title sounds like it's gonna be a full blown comedy.
Another thing, and it was something that was said once on Jim Hill Media: Many times when the mouse factory buys domain sites, isn't always necessarily because they're about to put out something under that brand name -though that's usually the intention- but more often than not they do it because they want to avoid that other parties use those names based on their properties, something that they can profit from.
By the way, rumor has it on the IMDB forums, that the teaser is going to be released with "Alice in Wonderland".

I could not have said it better myself! It will be interessting (and perhaps depressing) to see what becomes of Disney the next couple of years. All the fan-talk about a new golden era for Disney and a new renaissance may turn out to be little more than silly dreams...

Y'know, they should make some ads that are geared toward boys. Some male-oriented trailers, spots, and posters in addition to girly ones would no doubt boost the audience's moral.
And seriously? "Tangled"? I'd be thrown through a loop if it isn't written by the guy who wrote "Wicked".
As for "The Switch", I can probably think of a few reasons why they would have that be the title. ...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
I got nothing.

I just hope they keep it simple. Personally I understand wanting to change it so more boys will go see it, BUT it was their idea to change The Frog Prince. Cinderella is Cinderella, Aladdin is Aladdin, Tarzan is Tarzan. If the story is pretty much the same as the classic story, then DON'T CHANGE IT. One word titles always work best.
On another note...I will say that some peeps I work with got to saw the rough cut of the movie last week and they LOVED it.
They think it is going to be a hit. HELLO ALAN MENKIN WE MISSED YOU

Tangled is the most horrible title for a movie... Tangled sound like a porn movie...
I read also that Tangled is a commercial name for a G-string!
Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE HATE HATE this name!!!
If they want to change name of the movie, I prefer too much The Hidden Tower!!!
Seriously, does Disney think that male audience go to the cinema to watch a movie called Tangled???
I'm very very disappointed... at Disney they are very stupid!
Tangled is a title for a Shrek type of movie, so I really think that Rapunzel will be in Shrek-style...
If they change title with Tangled, this movie will be a huge flop!!!
HORRIBLE TITLE!!!!!
I want Rich Ross OUT OF DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
