Pocahontas on Blu Ray in 2010?

I looked and couldn't find this anywhere. Now, don't get all excited or anything, because this is simply internet rumor...but at least it's at the rumor stage. I was searching on amazon.com for some nice blu ray recommendations on upcoming titles and if you scroll to the bottom of this list:

The post says clearly that November 2010 is tentatively scheduled for the Blu Ray release of Pocahontas. This would be the 15th Anniversary of the film this year which would be perfect timing for an anniversary release (and a beautiful film to show off the Blu Ray/Hi Def stuff).

Granted if you check out some of the other rumors on his list, you can definitely see a WHOLE lot of rumor in there. But I figured I could get the ball rolling with rumor and speculation here if no one else had heard of it. Thoughts?

while the OPs intentions are good and well meaning in sharing this find with us.
unfortunately the list is merely one Amazon.com users ideas of the most anticipated movies for bluray and not any actual sort of realistic idea on when to expect any of the movies listed on there.

i definately hope to see pocahontas this year on bluray, but definately know the chances of that happening are not to good, especially seeing how they arent even keeping on track with the previously announced blu releases of Dumbo and possibly fantasia and beauty and the beast.

I love this movie and hope its out soon, on a side note i was very lucky last week in that i was actually able to get my pocahontas poster signed by Mel Gibson.

Yes, it's funny how the story of Avatar is being compared to Pocahontas. I've seen some "crossovers" on youtube. Still haven't watched Avatar by the way.

Somehow, I felt quite happy because Avatar rekindled the public's interest for Pocahontas. It shows that the public has not completely forgotten all about it as Pocahontas somehow still rang with them after seeing the parallelisms with Avatar.

With regards to Pocahontas' rerelease on Blu, though I would be certainly happy if it does get the treatment sooner, I believe it more to be unlikely since the Special Edition DVD is still in print.

And I believe that Hercules and Hunchback deserves to be rereleased first (*OMG, here I go again *) as it has been almost ten years since their last release. Come on Disney, Herc's last DVD came out in 2001 along with Snow White's Platinum and the same for Hunchback which came in 2002 along with BATB's Platinum. Now SW just got rereleased and BATB is also about to be this year, why not Herc and Quasi?

I think a rule's been instated that Hercules and Hunchback can only be re-released after all their other titles (including Song of the South) have been released 3 times on Blu-ray. Or, in other words, the sign of the Apocalypse.

I was just about to say that! I understand why a film like "The Black Cauldron" being neglected, even though with the correct Hot Topic marketing it could very well become a hit (anything that hits the Hot Topic stores becomes a hit, their costumers are very loyal...remember the vampire episode of South Park?). But Hercules was pretty successful wasn't it? I mean there's other movies that got multiple releases excluding the gold collection...I want Hercules

Find a friend with DirecTV HD, go to their house when Hercules comes on ABC Family and have a watching party. If ABC Family can show Hercules in HD (TRUE HD), hopefully we can get Hercules AND Hunchback in HD...

Hercules was presented on DVD in its original aspect ratio. that is the way its meant to be seen. and will feature the same aspect ratio when it hits bulray

I think he's referring to the fact that the Hercules DVD isn't even anamorphically encoded... many HDTVs can only display these non-anamorphic transfers inside a black border that goes all the way around the screen.

IOW, the movie picture is literally framed by a thick black box on ALL sides. Which sucks. Bad.

Hercules and Hunchback are two of my absolute favorite Disney movies and I cannot fathom why Disney continuously ignores them while releasing so many lesser movies multiple times.

But I really hope "Pocahontas" comes to Blu ray this year or maybe the next year - and along with more special features. It's a visually beautiful film, that would've looked great on Blu ray.

They don't have the same generation-crossing appeal as those from 1989 to 1994. In fact, notice how almost right after their release they vanished into obscurity. Wherease "The Little Mermaid", "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King" can sell 7-8 million copies each decade, "Pocahontas" and HOND can move around 1-2 million, and that's not enough $$$ for Disney.

I hope for a 2 disc '20th anniversary edition" of THOND in 2016 with interesting extras. Till then, I just have to be happy with my single disc version.
Is there no possibility to start a petition for re-releasing the neglected movies like HOND and HERC on DVD/blu? No idea myself how to do this.

She may be one of the "official" Disney princesses now but she's among the least marketed. Do a simple search on ebay, for example.

Not that many people know who Basil or Copper are, but The Great Mouse Detective and The Fox and the Hound have gotten a second DVD release. I think Hercules and Quasimodo are more recognizable characters, and they should at least get the minimal upgrade second release.
