Is There Anyone Famous Here at UD

I was wondering that we don't know who the people are behind the avatar. Who are the people we talk to in this forum. It made me think we might be talking to famous people. So if you are here is there anyone famous who goes on UD.

If we do have famous people, I doubt they are going to announce themselves. They get hassled enough by the paparazzi, why have internet fanboys/girls and trolls haunt them too?

Not to mention, who is going to believe them? There is hardly a reason someone can prove they are famous here.

Reminds me though of watching one of the late night shows back when AOL was one of the first internet providers and it was huge, Jenny McCarthy was talking about how she found a chat room named after her. So she went in and was reading the comments, finally she revealed who she was....she was called a liar, among many other names. So she said on live tv, "that was really me!"

Celebrities use the internet like the rest of us, but they don't want to be bothered in the comfort of their own home by people PMing and emailing them all the time. Also reminds me of my friend Mike Mozart, who is big on YT...good example of what happens when too many people know who you are. His inbox and chat log is always full. People constantly skyping him, to the point it crashes his computer. And Mike's famous mind you, but its not like he is Brad Pitt famous. He has private usernames and emails so his close friends and family can contact him and he can actually read it without having to dig through piles of "are you coming online?/when's your next video?/watch my video/feature me!/i'm a big fan!".

Just curious, zackiel, is this your first forum? Because anonymity on forums through message board names is fairly common. Speaking of famous people on UD, well, I rather doubt it, but I know we have our own residential Buena Vista Rep, and I know UD was featured on the official sites of Leonard Maltin and Roy E. Disney, and the website (along with a forum member!) was mentioned in the official Disney book "Disney Dossiers".

But once again, I doubt there's anybody really famous on here.

It's time for me to reveal my secret. Here goes...

I'm actually Walt Disney's head in a jar.

Now before the questions start flying, just let me say a few things...

1) CGI animation? That's pretty okay. I actually intend to pioneer a form of stop-motion animation drawn in condiments on the backs of really fat guys, but we all have to wait for the technology to catch up. Still, look for "The Mayonnaise and the Funny-Looking Mole" in 2054, give or take.

2) Snow White was actually brighter in the 40s than it is on Blu-ray today. If you look at my notes, the original line read "lips hot pink as neon crayon", but we had to go with all that rose business because no one felt like whipping up a hot pink paint for the cels. So, maybe next time they'll get it right.

3) It's been brought to my attention that Alan Menken and Randy Newman are actually the same person. So everyone quite whining about the frog picture's soundtrack. He did his best with whatever personality he felt like being that day.

4) Also, I hear Alan / Randy is pretty big on kazoos these days. You might want to expect a lot of that in "Rapunzel".

5) "Dumbo 2: Elephant in the City" was my pet project during the 50s. It nearly broke my artificial heart-like unit when I heard it was shelved a few years back.

6) I once went to lunch with a hard of hearing reporter and ordered a particularly lousy glass of apple juice. I commented to the reporter that I hate the juice, and that the juice is the cause of all the world's problems. He misquoted me, and then all that happened... so, uh, that rumor's a false one.

7) "Home on the Range"? Pretty funny! I mean, Roseanne as fat gassy cow? Who would have thought?

I secretly inserted that one frame of footage into "The Rescuers". You know the one I mean. It was late, and we all thought it was a riot. By the next morning, the tequila had worn off and we started second-guessing it, but by that point it was already being transferred to VHS and, well... you know the rest of it.

9) Contrary to all these silly rumors, my body wasn't frozen and hidden in Splash Mountain or EPCOT or the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. My head was removed and placed in a glass jar in the Haunted Mansion. I've been daylighting as Madame Leota for the past 40 or so years.

10) The characters in "Sleeping Beauty" are SUPPOSED to be flat and undeveloped. They're one dimensional, just like the art style! How did you guys all miss that?!?!

Also, the prince in "Snow White" is named Melvin.

It all depends on what you mean by celebrity. If it essentially means someone who has been in the public eye (however large or small the eye is), then there have been a few notable celebrities that have visited/posted at UD. Granted, we won't get like, Angelina Jolie chiming in saying, "I loved The Princess and the Frog, I saw it with all fifteen of my kids!". But we have had our share of celebrities posts...

As UmbrellaFish/Julie Andrews said, Leonard Maltin has the site on his recommended links, and has also been interviewed by UD. Urban legend says he has a username and posts a few times, and that only a very select few people (I'm guessing Luke and Aaron) know which username he is.

BVHE-Rep isn't a "celebrity" per se, but is sort of the forum's liaison with Buena Vista Home Entertainment (now Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, so WDSHE-Rep would be a better username now ).

Actor Priscilla Weems visited the UD messageboards shortly after the site interviewed her for the Season 1 release of "Five Mile Creek". She made a few posts, but didn't stay long. Maybe if Disney releases the rest of the seasons of "Five Mile Creek" she'll show up again.

"Disneyland" and "Zorro" historian Bill Cotter posts infrequently, usually during Treasures season as he has done interviews for some of the Treasures DVDs.

Comic Book/Animation historian Mark Arnold posts infrequently as well, and has also written a few UD reviews.

One of UD's members is a television actor in his/her respective country.

I think that's all, though there could be more. UD's done a great many interviews with celebrities, and they may have stopped by and visited the site and forum during that time.

Well, I'm sorta hoping trying to get there. I have a music group with some friends and we have a CD on itunes (The CD cover is my avatar, I'm the tall guy). We also produce, write, choreograph, and design our own summer theater shows featuring our music (which is my siggy pic, once again i'm the the tall guy in the middle... if you can really see anyone else in that pic ).

So... being that i'm on itunes and we're working on getting last summer's show on youtube, I like to think of myself as a celebrity in training

If you are hell bent on talking to famous people, I suggest you look up conventions.

The short list of actors/artists I have met:

Don Bluth and Gary Goldman, great guys, very nice, did free signings and drawings. Had dinner with them for an awards show
Alice Cooper, very very funny, he's got a great sense of humor, also good to his fans, had dinner with him, same awards show (very surreal, let me tell you)
James Marsters, Emma Caufield, Charisma Carpenter, Amber Benson, Juliet Landau, Clare Kramer, Andy Hallett (All from Buffy/Angel)
Leonard Nemoy
Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis (both from Star Trek:TNG and Gargoyles)
James Kyson Lee, from Heroes, he even gave me a kiss and mentioned that kiss on his Twitter/Facebook...sorta


Check out scifi/comicbook/fantasy conventions. There is something for everyone. Comic Con, DragonCon, Megacon, etc.

As for famous people I've met. Met a couple. I've met and even gone to Perry Combo's house down in Florida a number of times before he pass away.

Also met Henry Winkler in NYC. Cool guy to chat with.

You guys are lucky. The only famous people I've met were Jeff Goldblum- met him after my family and I saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on Broadway, just as his show- Pillowman- had ended, and the author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series.

When an old friend of mine was at a con in Florida last year, he was talking to a cosplayer he'd just met about a few shows, and brought me up because of my fanart. <i>And the girl actually knew who I was! </i> So I know I'm obviously not famous or anything, but I guess I'm known in certain communities and small circles thanks to the internet . . . at any rate, it was really weird yet extremely flattering.

I've met Bill Kroyer (director of Ferngully), Chris Sanders (colored one of his dA pieces and got him to sign it), Dean Yeagle (although I was too afraid to talk to him), and am friends with a couple of former Disney artists that worked on some of the DAC's in the 1990's and 2000's. Due to where Rey works, he's spoken with Ben Stein, has worked indirectly for Beyonce, and has seen Mel Gibson casually walking around (I was annoyed that I skipped out on having lunch with him that day, I might have seen Mel too)!

I was a local anchor for a couple of years, did stage in the pacific nw for a little longer than that, have a dozen or so commercial credits (locally produced commercials, not commercial movie) and when I lived in L.A. I actually came close to landing a minor "buddy" role to 'Joey', the character Matt LeBlanc played on Married With Children...

Perhaps if things had worked out differently back then I could answer "yes" but I doubt I would identify exactly who I was...As it is though, in MrKateB land there ain't nobody here but us nobodies.

I do know a few people that were pretty damned famous though, mostly known from the 80's/90's era but are still famous enough. One I consider a friend even.

I'm by no means famous in the wider context of the sense, but this happens to me fairly often at fan gatherings. People seem to know who I am and I have no clue who they are

It was quite odd at first, but by now I'm just used to it heh... people come up to me and ask "You're Mayhem, right?" and I'm like "Yeah...?!" and then I usually get an introduction. Spooky...

I suppose in a way it's the entire reverse of meeting someone actually famous which is probably why I figure I know how they feel meeting countless fans at conventions!

I recently found someone here in London who worked on a few episodes of the DAC when Disney still had an office in London, and he was also part of creating this well known introduction (<-- link!) to the franchise. He's still got some bits and pieces from it abouts, so I'm hoping to be able to get them from him. He had some Chip/Dale/Gadget cels from the sequence but they went to someone else sadly.

He also hinted at going over to the US in the 90s and working on some of the Disney animated feature films, so I'm currently in the process of researching credits to see if I can find him listed

I seem to recall somebody on here (or their brother, who might have been registered here) eventually becoming a member of an indie band, who have had some success of sorts in the UK. Other than that, I don't believe that anyone here is of any particular fame, though I guess there will be some people who might eventually become famous...
