Jurassic Park 4 Announced and info on Captian America Movie

He said the following about Jurassic Park 4:

Well, there is going to be a Jurassic Park IV. And it's going to be unlike anything you've seen. It breaks away from the first three—it's essentially the beginning of the second Jurassic Park trilogy. It's going to be done in a completely different way. That's pretty much all I can tell you.
It's not going to be a Captain America that you expect. It's something different. It is influenced by the comic book, but it goes off in a completely different direction. It's the origin story of Captain America. It's mostly period—there are modern, present-day bookends on it—but it's basically the story of how Steve Rogers becomes Captain America. The great thing about Captain America is he's a super hero without any super powers. Which is why this story, among the hundreds of super hero stories, appealed to me the most. He can't fly, he can't see through walls, he can't do any of that stuff. He's an every man who's been given this amazing gift of transformation into the perfect specimen—the pinnacle of human perfection. How does that affect him? What does that mean for him emotionally and psychologically? He was this 98-pound weakling, he was this wimp, and he's transformed instantly into this Adonis. You'd think he got everything he wanted. Well, he didn't get everything he wanted. The rules change at that point and his life gets even more complicated and dire. For me, that's the interesting part of the story. It's got some great action sequences in it and some incredible stuff that we've never seen before. But at the heart of it, it's a story about this kid who all he wants to do is fit in. This thing happens and he still doesn't fit in. And he has to prove himself a hero—essentially go AWOL to save a friend...

JP4 has been announced so many times. I'll believe it when I'm in the theater.

Also, I would hope it's better than the third movie, and if "It's going to be done in a completely different way" is a synonym for "3-D" someone's gotta get smacked.

These to films should have separate posts!

Anyway, JP4 first. I agree, I will believe it when I see it at least being made. And by made I mean Production and Post-Production stages. But if this dose happen it kind of makes it sound as if a 5th and 6th film will be behind it. Never was a fan any way though, which is funny because I love dinosaurs!

As for "Captain America" I really hope this turns out good. Based on how good the last "Hulk" was and "Iron Man" I think this will be good. But when I hear stuff like "not as you imagined" I get worried. I'm a stickler on these things for the source material. But we will see...

After <i>Avatar</i>'s records sink in, I fear it's going to be some time before a big major tentpole film is made without 3-D unfortunately.

Why does the film industry insist on milking every good movie in existence until it's dry and ruined? I think that's what's really up for discussion here.

Well, because of money. Didn't JP3 do relatively well considering its budget? It's not far-fetched that another movie could do solidly enough financially. It has some name recognition, and if a studio thinks they can milk more money from a franchise, they will. I wouldn't mind a fourth movie in theory, but I won't have my hopes too high since JP3 was pretty bland. I like dinosaurs as much as the next eight-year-old, but the movie seemed to chuck everything that worked from the first two movies and made a film that just entailed of scenes from the books that were never filmed and people running from dinosaurs. It pretty much lacked any sort of real excitement or imagination.

...which is why I think that JP4 will in actuality be a gritty, 3-D mo-cap reboot of the franchise.

I kinda like the idea of a grittier JP4. When the first one came out, that was one of the first major CGI films. We look at it now and its good for the time it came out, but technology has come much further. So a reboot, with a new story/cast/technology may not be terrible. Even some of the Walking with Dinosaurs series, the animals sometimes look amazingly realistic. Would be nice to see what they can do with the Avatar-technology. And there is hope for that director. Wolfman so far looks amazing from the trailers. I can't wait to see that.

Not a fan of Captain America, so nothing worth saying on that end. :)

I generally think the first JP holds up pretty well CGI-wise - if I had to pick a weak scene, the CGI Gallimimus herd looks kind of fake. The animatronics still look excellent, which I think says a lot for the pros of having a physical creature.

Also, I love how there was like one line about JP4 and a paragraph on Captain America, and we're all like "WHAT WILL JP4 BE???".

I always thought that Jurassic Part III left the door wide open. After 9 years of no JP movies, I had lost all hope at seeing another one. But after this news, I'm beginning to get excited again.

If Joe Johnston is directing, I wish him luck. I only wish this one has a good story like the original movie. This is just my opinion, (and my apologies if you liked JP 2 and 3) but I thought the storyline of dinosaurs chasing people (in JPIII) was a bit cliche'ed. And the storyline of dinosaurs attacking San Diego (in The Lost World) was downright lame.

The fourth installment should involve the reopening of the park! You can't have a decent Jurassic Park movie without the PARK! The thing that made the original film so fun was the fact that it was set in a zoo environment, with rides, tours, observation enclosures to see the dinosaurs. Stuff that really makes one's imagination run wild! I also wouldn't mind seeing some of the original cast members, such as Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, or Sam Neil. I would have LOVED to see Wayne Knight reprise his role, but that is, obviously, impossible.

I thought the Brachiousaurus looked the most fake. And I agree, the t-rex and raptor animatronics are still amazing beyond belief. I wish more animatronics and puppetry would still be used today.

No telling what the story may be like if its a revamp. The last movie did leave it wide open, but in all possibility, they could throw all that out and start from scratch. I hope they don't just add another island though.
